Day Off

"What are you doing here? I thought you said you'll be home late!", Janey exclaimed as soon as Lynn entered their apartment.

"Well, can't I go home because I miss you?", Lynn said smiling.

"Oh please! Who are you kidding? I seriously thought you will be in a hot date, with a hot guy somewhere.", Janey teasingly said.

Lynn thought for a second. Janey was actually correct, she was with a hot guy.

Janey's eyes widened. "You were, weren't you?", then burst into laughter.

"Was he too hot to handle?", she asked teasingly.

"No way, I was too hot for him!", Lynn declared giggling.

"Alright, Ms. Hottie go and take a shower. I'll order some take out!", Janey commanded her cousin.

Lynn went to her room. Flashbacks of Carlo, holding her hand, encircling her with his charms while at the bar, catching her when she fell, treating her like he cares.

"No, no, what are you dreaming about, you fool. Shower, go get some cold shower and wash those dirty thoughts of yours.", she shooked her head violently and headed to shower.

The two ladies opted to watch a drama, about a rich male lead falling for a clumsy, poor female lead. What a cliche, Lynn thought. No wonder the both of them are loveless, it's because they like this kind of stuff.

"I think, we'll end up an old maid?", Lynn said out of nowhere.

Janey thought for a second and said, "that's fine, when we retire, we will travel the world, just the two of us."

"What's the point with travelling when we are old, we won't be able to enjoy it. We'll have arthritis by then, we won't have teeth to chew our food, and we won't have the figure to wear bikinis." Lynn said sadly.

Janey throw a pillow at Lynn. "Who told you, you have the figure right now. And how many time have I told you to brush your teeth, so that you won't have to worry about you teeth falling off."

The two of them started a pillow fight. They were laughing, enjoying these moments of close friendships. Who needs a guy, if you have a friend. Lynn thought. They didn't even paid attention on the TV screen, where the two leads were kissing.

It's Saturday. It's the first thing that came to Lynn's mind as soon as she open her eyes. She stretch and yawn. She loves weekends, she can sleep all day without worrying about a thing. She check the time in her phone, it shows 9:30 AM. She is sure that Janey will still be asleep, she usually wakes up at 11:00 or 12:00.

After taking a shower, she made coffee for herself and made a call to her mum. "Hi mama!", she said as soon as the phone was answered.

"Hi Lynn, have you eaten your breakfast?", Marti asked, she knows that her daughter loves eating but since she works far, she is worried that she is not eating right.

"I just woke up mama, I'm having my coffee. I'll eat with Janey later when she wakes up.", Lynn said lazily.

"Fine, just don't make it a habbit to skip breakfast, it's bad for your stomach, you might get ulcer.", Marti said with concern in her voice.

"Yes mama, I know. By the way, I've send out money to your account, you can withdraw it later.", Lynn said while yawning.

"Okay, okay, you take care of yourself out there. When are you planning to come home?", she asked, she is really missing her daughter. She raised this daughter of hers, no one can tell her that she is not hers. She took care of her when she was sick, she was the one who puts the ribbons when she gets awards at school, she's the one who wipes her tears when she cries. She is her daughter, and no one can tell her otherwise.

"I'm not sure mama. I've got to go, I'll call you again later, I think there's someone at the door.', Lynn said hurriedly

"Okay, bye.", Marti said lovingly to her daughter.

Lynn opened the door. It's a delivery for Janey as usual. Her cousin's online business is doing well recently.

She finish her coffee and started making lunch. She keeps on biting her lips accidentally. She is wondering what is up with that.

"If you continue smiling on your own, I will call a doctor dude.", Jeff said jokingly.

Carlo look at Jeff still smiling. "Tell me, have you met a girl, who hates social gatherings, who doesn't like good looking guys, and ignorant about bars?"

"Depends, who's the good looking guy? Is it me? Impossible that she won't like me.", Jeff said while chewing.

Carlo shook his head while laughing.

"Seriously dude. How are you going to react if you meet that kind of girl?"

Jeff looked at Carlo and said, "I would ignore her, she sounds boring."

"Exactly my thought, ha ha ha!", Carlo laugh, but why in this world that he doesn't find her boring at all. Rather, she finds her adorable and cute. What is wrong with him.

"Are you okay dude? Don't tell me you met someone boring like that?" Jeff inquired seriously.

"You looked like you did, and dude don't tell me you like her?" Jeff eyes widened with the realization. He has known Carlo since childhood, and he knows that he would not bother to discuss or even joke about something or someone unless, it matters to him.

Carlo did not say anything, instead drank his coffee.

"Oh no, does Tin knew about this. She will freak out dude. Remember the last time when she caught you going out with that girl you met in the gym. She made her life miserable.", Jeff exclaimed.

"This has nothing to do with her. She is nothing to me but a sister.", Carlo said carelessly.

"But she doesn't feel that way to you. You know that she loves you.", Jeff said with concern.

"It has nothing to do with me. And she knows that!", Carlo said coldly.

Jeff shooked his head. "You are cruel man!"

Carlo just sighed. He's concern right now is how to figure out his feelings for Lynn. He is conflicted about her. He's been through several relationships before and they didn't work out because he knows that Tin did or said something to those ex's of him. But he let it go because he was not serious about them. He is concern about Lynn. He is worried that he might seriously like her.

"What's our snack?", Lynn asked Janey while doing shopping in the mall.

They plan on watching a movie later after they're done shopping. Janey was busy browsing the shop, she is looking for a new dress again. She loves shopping, and so far she has enough money for it. Unlike Lynn who is not fond of shopping, which is a good thing since she has no money for it.

"How about pizza?", Janey said while still browsing dresses on display.

"Seriously, pizza, how are we going to get it inside the cinema without being notice?" Lynn exclaimed in surprise.

"Fine! let's just have popcorn then.", Janey said.

"Try this on, I think it will look good on you.", Janey said while showing the dress to Lynn.

"No, no. I can't afford that right now. I just send money to mama. I only have money for food. I'm so poor right now.", Lynn said while making a sad face.

"You poor thing." Janey patted her head like a pet.

"I'll lend you the money, if you like it. Common try it on first.", Janey insisted.

"No need, I don't like wearing dresses anyways.", Lynn complained.

Janey sighed, "You're so lazy."

Lynn just smiled, and said "I'm just conserving my fats."

"I can see that!", Janey said mockingly while pinching Lynn's tummy.

After the movie, the cousins did went to eat pizza. They ordered two flavoured pizza, large size, six piece chicken, and spaghetti with softdrinks.

The waiter was surprised on how the two small women would be able to eat that much food. What the waiter didn't know was the two were foodie, and would have food trip from time to time.

After an hour the plates were empty and the two were full and satisfied.

"Should we buy ice cream?", Lynn asked as they were about to leave the table.

The waiter overheard her, and shook his head. Whoever will be the future husband of these two ladies should earn enough money to feed them.

"Ice cream? Okay, let's buy cake as well.", Janey said.

"Awesome!", Lynn exclaimed.
