Unearth the Past
Camera were flashing from all directions. They were excited to hear that one of the youngest billionaire got engaged to his girlfriend of three years. Carlo Chen was all serious, he agreed to the engagement after three years, he was busy with work and Tin has claimed the right to be his girlfriend and now fiancee. Anyways, he has no time for dating and Tin was patiently there waiting for him, so why not just marry her. She's beautiful, intelligent, they have the same social status and she's good in business. Then, a face flash in his mind. He's ex- wife, that face he can't forget when they decided to divorce. The look in her face was something he can't get out his head. It was a look of longing for something that she lost and can't find. He never got his memory back, but his last memory of her was when they decided to divorce and that memory he can't seems to forget ever since, it stucked like glue in his head. If she didn't cheat on him, he might actually explore their relationships but what he hated most was betrayal.
Tin was all smiled. She will be Mrs. Chen finally.
The press conference ended and Carlo return to work.
"Sir, your sister is on the phone." Brian notified him. He can't believe that Tin and Mrs. Chen was able to manipulate his boss from agreeing to marry Tin. Carlo never asked him about Lynn, he's the type who don't say any words unless asked. But he was tempted to help his boss but he hesitated, he doesn't want to interfere with his personal life.
"Hello Carlo, Tin called me and told me about your engagement, she was calling me sister. Are you kidding me? I've been busy here because of my pregnancy, and I will just find out that you will marry someone. And did you and Lynn have a kid?" Carla was upset, she didn't like Tin at all and she met Lynn in the airport carrying a son that looks so much like Carlo. Lynn avoided her and she was not able to talk to her.
"What are you saying? Lynn, are you referring to my ex-wife? What son?" Carlo got confused, does Carla knew about Lynn too.
"What's up with your head. Did you get married and divorce without my knowledge. You did no invite me on your wedding." Carla complains.
"You were pregnant, and it's a long story. We're divorce and I'm marrying Tin." Carlo explained.
"So, you decided to become stupid all of a sudden. You let go of Lynn and your son for that hah! girl. Good luck to you bros!" Carla said angrily.
"Your giving me a headache, what son are you talking about?"
"Oh that's why Lynn was avoiding me. You didn't know that you have a look a like son. Well, forget that I told you. Bye." Carla hang up. She was sure that Carlo will go crazy right now with the news she gave him.
"Hello, hello!" Carlo slammed the phone.
Was Lynn pregnant then, she never told him. Was that the reason she had that looked. But how sure was Carla that it was his. She said that the child look like him. He murmured under his breath and called Bryan.
"Yes Boss?"
"Investigate what happen to Lynn after our divorce. Get every details of her life, three years ago onwards." Carlo demanded Bryan.
Bryan paused and did not say anything.
Carlo raised his head. "What?"
"Did you now remember that Ms. Lynn did not cheat on you?" Bryan asked hesitantly.
"What do you know?" Carlo asked, it never occur to him to inquire from his assistant. The thing was he also forgot all about Bryan.
"It's alright boss, I'll do as you said." Bryan hesitated and was about to walk out.
"Sit down!" Carlo demanded.
Bryan nodded and sat down.
"Tell me what you know about Lynn and my relationships with her." Carlo instructed.
"Well, when you hired me, the two of you has already broken up." Bryan explained. "You asked me to hire someone to search for her."
"Why would I hire someone to look for her when she cheated on me?" Carlo was finding these new information interesting.
"Base on what I know, you found out that she was set up by Ms. Tin." Bryan answered.
"That's ridiculous, how can she be set up to sleep with my bestfriend?" Carlo finds Bryan's explanation hard to believe.
"Well, she and Mr. Jeff were drugged. Mr. Jeff gave you the medical results of them both. And he also confirms that nothing happened." Brian was doing his best to sound as neutral as possible.
"Why did she leave me if she was not guilty?" Carlo asked.
"She um.. wanted to get away from you because she was hurt. She was fired from her job and her parents died because the company send her pictures with Jeff to her mother, which cause her heart attack and her mother's death cause her father's death. So, she went abroad and tried to get away as far as she could from you." Bryan cleared his throat.
"If she left me, why did we get married?" Carlo asked trying to make up the pieces into his memories that he lost.
"Well, the investigator found her as soon as she came back to the country and you called me one day asking me to prepare the island, the wedding, the documents for the marriage and all. You sounded desperate then, you even asked your father to take over the company for a while." Bryan explained.
"Then, I had an accident?" Carlo asked.
"Well, prior to that, you asked me to set up her brother with money and drugs. You used that reason to blackmail her to stay with you." Bryan remembered how hard it was to do, but he promised to help him with his dream house which he apparently forgot as well.
"That's crazy!" Carlo exclaimed.
Bryan nodded. "I agree sir. Prior to that you asked me to buy a condo unit in the same floor that she was in. You simply wanted to have her back."
"Are you telling me that my fiancee and mother were lying to me?" Carlo asked.
Bryan hesitated. "I'm not in the position to comment on that. I am simply answering your question."
Carlo nodded. "Alright! Do as I said. You can go now."
Bryan nodded and left.
Carlo was left thinking. Can he trust his assistant? He forgotten him as well, all he knew was that he was hard working, professional and dependable. He must admit that he remember Tin doing dirty stuff against his exes. And his mother had always wanted her to be her daughter-in-law.
Who can he trust? Jeff?
He decided to call him and set an appointment with him.
Jeff asked to meet him in a cafe. As soon as he entered the place, he was greeted by a familiar scent, but he couldn't remember being there.
Jeff was waiting in one table sipping his coffee.
"You're late!" Jeff said coldly.
"Sorry, traffic!" Carlo answered.
"What do you want?" Jeff asked.
"I want to know your relationship with Lyn." Carlo asked.
Jeff laughed. "She's the woman I love, my girlfriend which you kidnapped and forced marriage." He sipped his coffee.
"What, hit your head and can't remember all the horrible things you did?" He scoffed. "How convenient?"
"If you love her? Where is she? Why aren't you two together, we're already divorce." Carlo asked sarcastically.
"Hah! Because you are a jerk, I will not answer your questions." Jeff stood and was about to head out.
"I will eventually find the answeres you know!" Carlo bragged.
Jeff laughed. "Yeah, your right, but by the time you find them, it will be too late." Jeff left.
Carlo was left behind thinking.
"Sir, how are you? It's been a while. Where's your girlfriend?" The waiter asked.
"Sorry, you know me?" Carlo was surprised.
"Yes ofcourse sir. You and your grilfriend were regulars here. You even have a picture here."
"Where?" Carlo asked curiously.
The waiter pointed at the wall with pictures of customers.
Carlo murmured, "thank you" and stood up to check the wall. There were a lot of pictures of couples on the wall. He saw his and Lynn's picture, his arms was around her shoulder, they were smiling at the camera. He took it, and examine it. At the back, there's a dedication that states, "To my sunset. I love you forever. Love Carlo." It was his hand writing.
Carlo put the picture in his pocket and left. What was he doing? He is now engage to Tin, why was he bothering to unearth the past. Even if Tin and his mum were lying, will it change the fact that he might made a mistake with Lynn and that she might not forgive him. And what about the child? What if there is one and he's the father?
