Chapter 28: Words Hurt

SPA

POV MARCELINE

Watching Stacy's face change from irritation to shock helped dissipate the small amount of terror I had initially felt when she knocked on the door. Her eyes wandered over us and noticed that we were only dressed in towels, our robes discarded on the floor below us. Her face changed once more to intense anger.

"What in the world are you both doing in there, alone?" she asked in a low voice.

"I don't see how that is any of your business," I snapped back.

"The steam rooms are only for singles," she continued. "Although I'm sure you wouldn't know that given how little experience you've had with upper-class amenities."

"The room's free now, Stacy," Grey said, staying between us. "We were just leaving anyway." Grey took my hand and we started to leave.

"Don't get too comfortable with him," Stacy provoked. "Before you know it, he will hang you out to dry."

"It's pretty wet where I'm standing," I said smugly and Grey tugged me faster out of the spa.
