Chapter 25: He Unravels Me

Mordecai was in the middle of the room. His eyes glowing brighter and angrier than I had ever seen them before. I felt Wendy’s nails dig into the flesh of my arm as he stomped closer and closer. Each step rattled my brain. I could barely think.

“Leave.” His voice crackled with building anger, bordering on the edge of his wolf form. Wendy trembled next to me, harder than I was, and with every bit of strength, I pried her off me and pushed her away.

No matter what happened now, I could not risk her getting hurt.

She turned to me. Her eyes were so pained I cried harder but kept pushing her to go. She started to walk, slowing in front of Mordecai, and then Robertson came from behind and took her arm. He shot me an unreadable look and turned away.

I watched him drag her out and close the door behind them, leaving me and Mordecai alone at last.

Mordecai started to stomp toward me.
