Chapter 44: A Luna for a Luna

I’ll admit it. Even with her hand firmly on Rose’s neck and with the scent of blood heavy in the air, Phoebe looked gorgeous.

She wore a black pants and a heavy violet cloak. Her hair was tied back with a single purple ribbon. Her face was flawless and round and the image of sweetness... It was hard to think she was responsible for Sarah and Helen being slumped in a corner behind her.

“Sarah!?” Wendy shouted. I could feel her body tense in anger as her wolf surfaced. Phoebe clicked her tongue and pouted at me with her pretty pink lips.

“Of course, Wendy followed you. Should’ve known she would. Whatever.” Phoebe squeezed Rose’s neck very slightly, drawing drops of blood with her clawed index finger. “Close the door, Melania. Or this will get very bad.”

I closed the door behind us.

“Lock it.”

Against better judgement, I locked it and stepped forward into the room. Wendy stayed at my side, and all I wished was to be able to mind link her and tell her to rescue Rose.
