Airborne

The Abyss Eaten and Axiolypito found themselves face to face for a minuscule instant, no expressions other than the widely open mouth was visible on the former's face.

Axio appeared undisturbed as he often did, believing to have the upper hand even after his adversary had demonstrated a charge of great speed, while still being slowed down by having to get through the guardian.

The man's right hands slammed against the ground, a cloud of Abyss rising in the spot the wretch had been standing.

The corrupted man simply couldn't believe it, no beast or monsters had managed to dodge him at this speed so effortlessly before, his craze for the hunt seemed stronger than the abyssal corruption in this small instant.

He gave it no thought however, as experienced as he was, he could tell that the best of his abilities he could muster and the possibilities he had access to here would be insufficient to pin this prey down.

"So be it" he sounded ecstatic for an instant as he turned to the wretch, only met with a bundle of overcharged spawners.

Locusts swarmed him and covered his vision, dispelling the swarm with a swing of his broken arm, he was instantly struck with another tower and pinned again, this tower seemed fire-themed, the guardian was flamming.

Once again, he destroyed the powerful monster without any issue, rushing through fire and lava unimpeded.

The Abyss Eaten seemed unhurt as he swung his head all around the arena, the only movement he could see being the whirling tendrils of Abyss, the instant he looked back in front of him, his prey was right there, within grasp.

Axio's hands were joined together, unfolding his fingers, the man had no time to even see what the wretch was hiding as he was suddenly blinded.

The two red dots serving as his eyes may be intimidating but were also perfect targets, placing his tongue in the center of his mouth and pushed the tip of it agains the roof of his pallate, forming two corridors.

Splitting things like that allowed for him to spit in both of the Abyss Eaten's eyes at once as the spawner he was hiding exploded with incredible strength.

Axio was flung back, twisting his body while mid-air effortlessly while his adversary was thrown up, struck immediately by the lone beefy rhinoceros that had been spawned, as strong as the corrupted was, he couldn't escape being chucked upward.

One, because he definitely didn't have a stable footing and second, because he wasn't so much heavier than any other human.

The rhinoceros, being spawned alone should have been the upper crust of its kind but its horn was shattered by the strike still and its huge frame dismantled by the slight contact with the Abyss.

Not to mention that half of its face was blown off as the man reflexively struck what was attacking him.

It was of no importance, all that mattered was that the enemy wasn't touching the ground.

The Abyss Eaten felt a sting in his eyes, but he coldly accepted the fact that the vile saliva would keep him blind for a while longer, he instead focused on his other senses, he was in a prime position to be thrown into a combo after all.

Even being a human, he was still a land creature and thus, out of his environment, he was vulnerable.

But what would a creature of great mind but feeble body do about this pristine opportunity? An opportunity he had carefully created himself no less.

The hunter was waiting for nothing more than for the wretch to put his plan into motion, susceptible to attacks and with little ways to defend himself properly, he could only endure.

Without being able to hear him move, the monster must have moved right underneath him as something slammed into him.

'Another tower...' his body was propelled higher up.

'This can't be right...' was he pushed to the ceiling, he would be able to grab onto it and get out of the air that way, not to mention, this particular attack was one Axiolypito could land without such an opening.

The damage dealt by the towers were also so little, the corrupted man had no reason to worry about it.

However, he didn't reach the ceiling, before he was taken all the way over there, the tower beneath him crumbled and another slammed into him from above.

"Ah!" he let out a sound as the plan unveiled itself, still blind, he couldn't see anything but it was now as clear as day what was going on.

Without knowing where the towers were coming from until they struck, the Abyss Eaten was maintained in the air, blow after blow, he was being thrown all around the place and now, the derisory damage of the tower now seemed more threatening.

'Just how fast is he truly?' he couldn't believe it, he had scoured so many lands, seas and skies in search of preys that could pose a challenge without success and now, mangled and broken in a pit and infected with the vile dark, he was somehow...

...Rewarded with an extraordinary foe?

Had he not been forsaken after all? Was his pitiful state, the unending pain and the isolation that had lasted countless years the price to pay to enjoy such a hunt?

"If so..." he muttered as another tower slammed down on him, sending him right through a cloud of highly poisonous frogs.

"...It was worth it!" that was without a doubt, the best time of his life, even though it seemed like he would be on the losing side.

He wasn't a pesky mage, nor did he possess wondrous skills gifted by the system, he had nothing but his body and had gotten from the system only what anyone else on the same path as him could have reaped.

With a missing leg and broken arm, separated from his gear, blinded and corrupted, he had no way to break out of the wretched attack he was stuck in.

Only a slip from Axiolypito could liberate him and it was likely to happen, after all, while the towers didn't deal much damage, they were battle towers.

He had battled the guardians and bosses of ancient towers himself, he knew how powerful they could get and this monster could accelarate their growth to such an incredible extent, doing it repeatedly, not to mention running around and spawning creatures at the same time.

It would take a toll on anyone.

The Abyss Eaten wasn't seeing the full expanse of the plan however.
