The Long Road

Without being able to react and with a clear lack of respect, the subpar vampire was slapped right in the face and out of his rage.

It might have looked more humorous had all of his teeth not been crushed and knocked out.

He spun in the air a single time before sharing a passionate kiss with the ground as his face wasbeing ground up due to the acceleration, leaving a trail of gore behind him until he stopped.

Superstes bent her wrist a little bit, somehow even more disappointed, it seemed like this so-called vampire was only the one in charge of the two dead monsters because he wasn't a complete idiot, in term of battle capacities and prowesses, he didn't surpass them in the least.

"Glargh..." he tried to scream his anger to the world but he ironically choked on his own blood, only producing a faint gurgling.

He managed to stand up, no pain reaching him, still, the humiliation had certainly brought him another kind of pain, one he lacked immunity to.

His face looked like it had been torn up by a cheese grater, his nose entirely missing, much like his lips and just about any sort of skin that been in contact with the ground.

His bones had even been dug in a bit, his remaining teeth looking like they had been aggressively polished.

Part of his eyes had even received a similar treatment, the damage was small compared to the rest but it was well enough to rob him of his sight.

His only hope now was that someone else would come to his rescue, however, fate and luck were cruel mistresses and all he received a feet right to the head, popping his head like watermelon.

Confirming that the vampire was trule done for by waiting for the system to do its thing, Superstes tried searching for something on his vacated body but apart from more blood vials and miscellaneous items, he had nothing that could help her.

Her plan to forge a better understanding of her fighting style and thus, become a better fighter, one that was faster, stronger, more resilient, a warrior capable of seeing her revenge through...

It was a simple plan, use the scattered forces of the monster army as stepping stones.

Nothing too flamboyant, however, if all of them were of the same caliber as those last three, she might be better off swinging her weapon mindlessly all day and night.

She pondered which direction to take from this town when she noticed that someone had stepped out of their house.

"You should sleep, old lady" Superstes recognised her as the same woman that had spoken to her after she had dealt with the first two overseers of this town.

The little and wrinkled lady didn't take heed of her words and walked up to the Superstes, handing her a basket of fruits.

"Eat some more, you're all skin and bones" in true grandma fashion she spoke and smiled, the lanky girl had never gotten to have any grandparents but didn't fuss over it, accepting the gift with a wry smile.

'Oh lady, that's just how a look like, this might look weird but this is my peak physique...' she had been put to a special diet by Sir Solitar, supposed to promote muscle growth and such, still, Superstes only kept on lengthening.

She certainly had muscles, but they were long as well and thus, went unnoticed most of the time.

The heroine currently stood at one meter and eighty five centimeters too, in no means small, taller than the average grown man even.

So she didn't fight the idea that she looked like a skeleton wearing a skin suit, because she absolutely looked like one.

As she took the basket from the old lady, an idea suddenly struck her.

"Hum, granny?" she said, not sure how to adress a senior.

"Others will most certainly come to investigate what happened, if they do, you and the others don't need to hesitate, tell them exactly what I look like and the direction I left from" she said with a slight smile.

"Add this too: My name is Superstes and I am the hero"

"That should do the trick" she added anticlimactically while looking up, completely breaking the epic and brave atmosphere she set up without meaning to.

"But..." the old woman weakly protested but Superstes was already walking away, with her freakishly long legs, she was already far, too far for a meek grandma to be heard.

'Like this, they shoud dispatch stronger monsters to look for me' she reached for one of the fruits and looked at it, a puzzled look on her face.

She kept on moving for the next few days, nothing of note happening just like before until she reached another town.

She was aiming to reach the city where she had first met Lolianth, Cinla and Feuman, Axiolypito had been there after all and from what she had heard, he had most certainly made use of his abilities there.

There would surely be clues.

Thinking ahead, she walked into the town and this time, no terrible sights were waiting for her, the monster or monsters in charge here were a bit more professional...

As she was walking through a wide street, something landed right in front of her, definitely meaning business.

...The overseer here was also more aware of his surroundings, he had quickly realised that Superstes wasn't the typical person and had seemingly already judged her a threat.

'The word has already reached so far? Their communications are quite advanced if so' she thought absentmindedly, more focused on just what exactly had blocked her path.

This monsters four hooves shattered the ground upon impact, he held his head high, a dignified look in his cold and unfeeling eyes.

A mighty mane in th back on his neck that continued along his entire back.

A third eye in the middle of his two foreheads, for he had two heads, placed next to each other vertically.

Still, all of these features and his great size didn't change one thing.

"A donkey? That's a monster?" Superstes couldn't help but voice out.
