Hearing my words, everyone's gaze was on me; some were doubtful, and there were even some hopeful looks.
"Are you sure of what you said, Ren?"
Hearing these words, I turned to the person who had asked this. The king was looking at me with a serious countenance, showing that there was no room for joking. Thinking about the probabilities of what I had said, I started to work out the plan I had thought of in my mind. After a few seconds with my eyes closed, I again turned my gaze to the king.
"Yes... although I have no proof, I believe it can work"
I said with a confident tone. I was not being arrogant or anything like that. I know very well that my words at this very moment can make thousands of people lose their lives, but that's exactly why I have to be confident. If my idea works out, we can actually win this war with minimal casualties.
"Very well, let's hear your idea"
Hearing the king's words, all the nobles were surprised that my opinion was actually being considered.
"Your majesty, please rethink this. Will you really listen to the words of a commoner?"
Said one of the nobles in a panic.
"Do you have a better idea to share, then?"
Asked the king with a serious face, making all the nobles shut up. Seeing that no one seemed to want to say anything, the king turned to me again, waiting for my explanation.
"Well... for some context, Ammy has, for some time, been producing a medicine that will make people who have insomnia able to sleep when they ingest the medicine"
I said, leaving all the nobles in disbelief.
"A medicine that will make sleepy people sleep? That's really possible?"
Conversations like this could be heard all around the room. As soon as the king raised one of his hands, the chatter ceased, leaving me room to continue.
"Hmm... the research is almost complete, so I think I believe it is possible to make a version that can be used on the battlefield, something like a sleeping gas. Once it comes in contact with someone, it will make them lose consciousness in a few seconds"
I said, receiving stares from all the nobles. Everyone looked at me in disbelief, while others looked at me scared. Well, even though it looks scary, this gas is actually quite easy to render useless. If there is a gas mask, the gas won't have any effect. But that's exactly why this time the chances of it working are high. The enemy will be caught with their guard down since they certainly won't be expecting a surprise attack using the gas, and that's when we can turn the game around.
"Your idea is really quite clever, but wouldn't our army be caught in that gas too?"
The crown prince asked as he looked at me. From the looks on everyone's faces in the room, I could see that everyone had the same doubt in their minds.
"You don't have to worry about that. I will be responsible for making a mask that will be able to keep the soldiers conscious"
Hearing my words, the crown prince put a smile on his face before speaking.
"I trust Ren's plan"
He said as he raised one of his hands. Seeing the prince's action, all the other nobles also started to raise their hands.
"How much time do you need to prepare all this?"
Hearing the king's question, I stopped for a moment to think, and more quickly, I answered him.
"Two days will be enough"
I said after thinking for a while. The king stared at me for a few seconds but just nodded his head, agreeing to my request.
"Very well, then we will leave that task to you, Ren"
The king said. After that, the conversation progressed much more from the others than from me. I was mostly silent, thinking about everything I was going to do. After a few hours, it was already night. As it was past the king's bedtime, he let me sleep in the castle for the night. And as I hadn't eaten, I was hoping that some maid would bring me food later. With this thought in mind, I was walking down the corridor while being guided by one of the castle maids.
Besides, for some reason, I was really starting to think that there was some ulterior motive that was making the castle employees respect me so much. After a few minutes of walking, we came to a huge door that was opened by the maid. Inside there was a relatively large bed, making it possible for up to 3 people to sleep side by side, and in the center was a conversation place with a table and what appeared to be a couch.
"Have a good rest, Ren-sama"
Said the maid, closing the door behind me and leaving. Looking around, I started walking towards the bed, wondering if there was really any person who could sleep alone in such a spacious bed.
(No, I shouldn't let the values of my old world influence me in this one)
With that in mind, I took a big leap onto the bed, feeling all the softness on my back.
(This bed is really comfortable)
I thought as I rolled from side to side on the bed. After that, I stood up and began to explore the room again. Looking around, I noticed a door inside the room. As it was much smaller than the door, I knew that this door was not connected to the hallway. With curiosity overcoming me, I slowly opened the door and entered, surprising myself right away.
(There is a bathroom inside the room)
I asked myself, surprised.
"Do they have a suite in a guest room?"
I said to no one specific.
"Actually, this is not the guest room"
I locked in place when I heard a voice echo through the room. Looking in the direction of the voice, I saw a beautiful woman with blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. She was completely naked, but thanks to the steam, I couldn't see any compromising parts of her body.
