Chapter 88 - The cultural festival is approaching

After my meeting with Emi came to an end, we both went back to the gym. The way was silent but at the same time pleasant. As we walked up the street that led to the gym, we looked at the city. The sun had long gone, leaving place for the moon shining in the sky.

"Thank you so much, Ren"

Said Emi suddenly, leaving me confused. I couldn't remember doing anything to make her thank me.

"For what?"

I asked, confused. Hearing my words, Emi put a smile on her face and turned her bright golden eyes to me.

"For protecting that peace, I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart"

Said Emi with a smile on her face. I could feel that those feelings really came from her heart. Hearing Emi's words, a warmth surrounded my heart. Although I already knew it, it was at that moment that I had really realized, I would do anything if it was for the smile of the person in front of me. I would do anything if it was for Emi to be happy. With that feeling in my chest, I knelt in front of Emi and held her hand carefully.

"Although I am grateful for the words, as long as you keep smiling, it will already be my payment"

I said with a soft smile on my face. Hearing my words, Emi was momentarily surprised before a small tear trickled down her face. At that moment, I was momentarily worried, but as soon as a smile opened on her face, I realized what had happened.

"Yes"

Said Emi as she looked at me. Emi was crying with happiness, and I would do anything for her happiness to continue. I swore it from the bottom of my heart. After that, I took Emi to the girls' dorm and said goodbye to her. The way back to my dorm was pretty quiet with nothing going on. As soon as I opened the door to my room, I noticed Eric was already there.

"Welcome back"

Eric said as soon as he saw me. Seeing this, I wondered if Eric had spent the day in his room.

"Did you do anything today?"

I asked as I looked at Eric. Hearing my question, he nodded.

"Yes, I went out with Flora around town"

Eric said normally. Hearing this, I was momentarily surprised.

"Are you two dating?"

I asked as I looked at Eric, hearing my question. Eric looked at me as if he couldn't believe what he had just heard.

"What? Of course not. We both have been doing this since we were kids, so it has become a habit for us to go out together on weekends"

Eric said, sighing. But still, I could feel that this was something he liked to do. After all, even though Eric was sighing, he had a small smile on his face. After that, both Eric and I went to sleep. The morning was Sunday, so there was nothing interesting going on.

Eric and I basically stayed in the room doing our own thing, and the day passed quickly that way. As soon as Monday came, Eric and I woke up and got ready, leaving immediately for the cafeteria. Arriving there, we both had breakfast and went to our classrooms.

As usual, as soon as I opened the door, curious looks turned toward me. But as soon as they saw who it was, everyone went back to what they were doing, without caring much about it. I went to my seat, which was next to Emi. As soon as I sat down, Emi looked at me and gave me a brief greeting.

"Good morning"

Emi said, looking at me with a small smile.

"Good morning. I hope your Sunday was nice"

I replied, looking at Emi. After that, Emi and I stood talking about random things until the teacher arrived. While we were talking, the door opened, and soon Susy-sensei entered the classroom.

"Good morning, class. I hope you all had a great weekend. As you all know, today, we will be presenting last week's papers. I hope you all have thought a lot about it"

Said Susy-sensei, sitting down on her chair. After that, one by one, the groups were called to present themselves and show the results of their research to the rest of the class. It was evident that all of them had thought deeply about the subject and had formulated the questions with plausible answers.

When it was Emi's turn, everyone was surprised by her resolutions. Emi's way of seeing things was very simple but could also be called philosophical. As soon as Emi's presentation was over, it was my group's turn.

"Alright, thank you for the great presentation, Princess Emi. I am impressed with your way of thinking"

Said the teacher, looking at Emi's group with a smile on her face.

"Thank you, Susy-sensei"

Said Emi. After that, Emi and her group returned to their seats, and soon Susy-sensei looked at me and my group. Susy-sensei seemed to know every member of each person's group.

"Alright, the last group, come here and present your work"

Said Susy-sensei. Just like Emi's work, ours was also highly praised, and we quickly returned to our seats. After Susy-sensei congratulated everyone on their work, the bell rang. Before we left the classroom, Susy-sensei said something to everyone.

"That sums up our class today. Before you leave, I want to remind you that the cultural festival will be next week. As the outside public will be invited to see the exhibits in each room, get organized and think about what you want to show"

Said Susy-sensei. After this, she left the room, leaving us alone. Soon, a conversation began to form among all of us. We decided that first, we would start by electing a leader for the group, and from there, we would think about what we would do. In the end, somehow, I ended up being elected as the leader.

I really wondered what criteria they used to elect me, but as Emi also seemed to agree with everyone, I could not refuse. And so, I ended up becoming the leader of our class.
