The weekend passed by in the blink of an eye, and soon Monday had arrived. The academy was totally different from usual, prepared to receive the various visitors who would arrive from both Solaris and other countries. Although I don't think Storne will have the courage to come.
After visiting Rebecca and Ammy, I went to my territory and asked my parents to come and see the presentations. Moreover, from what I learned, Emi also invited her parents to come and see the presentations. I found out that she asked them to definitely come to mine specifically.
On the day of the presentation, we were all in our classroom, making some adjustments to the steam train. With everyone's help, we managed to create a miniature version of the train along with the tracks. Obviously, the train was not big enough to carry people since we didn't have much time available.
In my previous world, this would have been at the level of a toy, but that is not the important thing. Our main goal is to show people that a miniature version is already fully functional, making it easy to create a bigger version in the future.
Once we finished all the preparations, all that was left was the test. Everyone had anxious faces as they waited for my command. Everyone had put their hopes on this project because if it worked, everyone's career would be guaranteed. The steam train itself would change the way we send things long distances across the continent.
Knowing this, it was almost impossible not to feel anxious about the results that would come. Fortunately, it was different for me. I am a reincarnated person with knowledge of much more impressive technologies than this.
"Let's get started"
I said, looking at everyone. Upon hearing my words, everyone nodded. After that, some small pieces of coal were placed in the boiler. As everyone looked at the steam coming out of the chimney, I pushed the lever, and little by little, the train started to move on the tracks.
As soon as they saw this, everyone jumped for joy, hugging each other. While this was happening, Emi approached me with a soft smile on her face. For some reason, Emi had been showing her feelings more openly when we were together.
"You seem less anxious than before"
Said Emi as she looked at me. Hearing her words, I raised an eyebrow, not understanding exactly what she meant.
(Did I seem anxious?)
I thought as I looked at Emi. Maybe noticing my doubt, Emi started to speak again.
"Haven't you noticed? These days you have seemed anxious about something, like you are excited but at the same time afraid"
Said Emi as she looked into my eyes. Hearing her words, I thought she might be right. Although I didn't notice, maybe deep down, I was anxious about the steam train. I mean, if the project goes wrong, I would have impeded the future of my companions who trusted me and this project. Although on the surface I was fine, deep down I had a strong conviction that I couldn't fail.
"Yeah... I guess you're right"
I said, looking at Emi with a soft smile on my face. Hearing my response, Emi flashed a smile that, although it looked arrogant, made her even cuter.
"I always do"
Said Emi as she thrust her chest forward. Hearing her, a smile escaped my lips, making Emi laugh along with me.
"Alright, now that we have proven that the steam train is working perfectly, you can enjoy the rest of the day. Just remember, you need to be here again in 2 hours"
I said as I looked at all my classmates. Upon hearing my words, they all nodded, and soon, one by one, they dispersed. From what I knew, some of them had someone they wanted to spend the school festival with, so it wouldn't be too good if they were stuck here. As I watched them walk out the door, I noticed that Emi was still standing in the same spot.
"Aren't you going with them?"
I asked as I looked at Emi.
"Don't you want me around?"
Emi asked as she looked at me. As soon as she said that, for some reason, I felt like I had stepped on a landmine.
"What? No, of course not. I just thought you had something planned for the cultural festival"
I said as I waved my hands to the sides. Upon hearing my words, Emi let out a giggle.
"I know. I was just messing with you"
She said as she looked at me. Strangely, at that moment, I felt that I should invite her. I had no reason or motive for it, but something in me told me that if I didn't call her, I would regret it in the future. With that thought in mind, I turned my gaze to Emi with determination in my chest.
"You know... we have 2 hours to do whatever we want... I was thinking of taking a walk around"
I said as I looked at Emi. She was also looking into my eyes as she heard everything I was saying.
"Do you want to come with me?"
I said as I extended my hand to Emi. Although I thought Emi would take a while to make up her mind, she strangely took my hand in a quick manner, as if she was expecting it.
"I would love to"
Said Emi as she looked at me with a soft smile on her face. As soon as Emi took my hand, she and I started to walk through the academy. We passed the various rooms that were prepared for the presentation. Each room contained something different and unique.
Although we are young, it is not wrong to say that we are also the future of the nation. The children who are here today will hold important positions in the future. That, and how valuable I think the cultural festival is.
