Chapter 131 - The night of the announcement (1)

After several lively conversations that arose in the carriage as we headed towards the majestic castle, we finally caught sight of its grand walls. Just as anticipated, a great flow of carriages was making its way to the location, filled with eager nobles eager to discover the reason for the long-awaited announcement from the king.

After all, this event could impact their wealth and influence in the kingdom. The entrance to the castle was bustling, with carriages of all colors and crests, each representing an important noble family. It was clear that no one wanted to miss out on this significant occasion, as the king's words could have a direct impact on their destinies.

Upon arriving at the gate that led us into the interior of the castle, we underwent a quick inspection, efficiently conducted by the royal guards. The process lasted mere seconds, and we were soon cleared to enter the magnificent premises of the castle. The carriage was parked, and upon disembarking, we made our way toward the main entrance of the hall, joining a small line of nobles. When our turn came, the door opened majestically, revealing a stunning scene before us. A beautiful hall of singular beauty, whose aura predominantly reflected in shades of white.

There were a few tables scattered throughout the hall, all elegantly adorned with a wide variety of snacks and sweets, providing a delight for the guests. The background music created a noble and immersive atmosphere, making the setting even more pleasant. As we walked through the hall, various nobles engaged in lively conversations and greeted each other with courtesy. However, my interest in socializing with them was minimal, so we headed straight for an available table.

As we sat down, we engaged in pleasant conversation amongst ourselves. As the minutes passed, my eyes landed on blonde hair that was familiar to me. It was impossible not to recognize that person, and by the smile on her face, she had also noticed me. She approached with elegance, accompanied by another familiar face.

"I didn't know you had already arrived. Good evening" 

Aria said with a friendly smile on her face as she approached. Beside her, Liam also looked at us with a pleasant smile. In fact, my parents knew about Liam, even though they hadn't met in person before. After my last conversation with Liam, I had told them about what we had talked about.

"Do you mind if we join you?" 

Aria asked with a warm smile on her face.

"Of course not, please feel free. We still have two available seats" 

My mother said with an inviting smile. After that, Aria and Liam sat down with us. Observing both of them, I was puzzled, as they seemed close. I really didn't know that they knew each other.

"Have you two known each other for a long time?" 

I questioned, directing my attention to Aria and Liam. In response to my question, Liam was the first to speak.

"Uh... Well, I'd say yes. I consider Aria my mentor. She's the one who passed on all the knowledge I have about business to me. Thanks to her, my family is still able to stand strong" 

Liam explained with a wide smile on his face, brimming with pride in his words. It was clear that his statements were deeply sincere, reflecting how much he valued Aria's presence in his life. In response, Aria let out a laugh and added.

"You're making me blush. However, it's true that I've been sharing some lessons I've learned over time with him. But it's not just that. Liam has a keen business sense and, more importantly, he values his partners. To me, that's the most crucial trait in any venture"

Aria made a smiling gesture before we continued with a wide range of conversation topics. As the discussion evolved, we got to the heart of the reason that had brought us together at that moment. Liam, expressing his uncertainty, inquired. 

"By the way, do you guys have any idea about the announcement that's going to be made today? Many nobles have various speculations, but I confess I'm unsure which rumor to give credence to"

Faced with Liam's words, I initially experienced a moment of perplexity. To me, it seemed evident that Liam was already aware of the reason behind the current summons, given his closeness with Asia throughout the period. When I turned to Asia, she looked at me with a smile, a characteristic trait of her personality. It seemed that, as always, Asia was enjoying the situation.

With a sigh escaping my lips, I turned my gaze to Liam and began to speak. 

"Actually..."

However, just as I was preparing to explain the current situation to Liam, the lights in the room suddenly went out, leaving only the seats farther away illuminated. Silence instantly fell over the area, interrupted only by audible footsteps. One by one, members of the royal family entered, with Emi standing out among them. Her dress displayed a pure white, with her hair skillfully braided and adorned with a rose-shaped brooch. On her finger, she wore the ring I had bought for her, and both Emi and I were wearing it today, honoring the king's request.

While my gaze remained captivated by Emi, a hand landing on my shoulder caught my attention. Turning, I found Aria, whose smile signaled the opportune moment. In fact, it was the sign we had been waiting for; Aria was communicating to me that the time had come.

After bidding farewell to my parents and Liam, I began to distance myself from the table, following Aria. Liam, at first, seemed confused by my sudden departure, but still assured that he would wait for me. The truth is, Liam truly exhibited a noble nature, differentiating himself from his father in character and essence. As we reached the designated spot to wait, Aria directed a smile my way and asked.

"Are you ready?"

Hearing Aria's words momentarily left me speechless, in fact, intense nervousness ran through me. But regardless of my apprehensions, I knew with conviction what was required, and for Emi, I was willing to face any challenge.

"Absolutely" 

I declared, locking my gaze onto Aria with a fearless, challenging smile.
