After the lunch shared by Aizen, Penelope, Cassy, and Ryan, the girls bid farewell to Aizen and Ryan and headed to the building where they would have their medical classes. As Aizen and Ryan knew, these classes weren't exactly comprehensive lectures on the subject. Most of the time, they were specific sessions in which the girls learned how to handle particular situations.
In simple terms, a wounded soldier on the battlefield would receive immediate assistance on-site, which could potentially prevent a fatality. After a quick assessment, the soldiers would be transported to previously set up tents farther away, where they would receive a full evaluation and more detailed care.
Personally, both Ryan and Aizen found this idea fantastic. Of course, there was concern about a possible invasion at the location where the doctors would be, but that's exactly why soldiers would be assigned to protect the area. Furthermore, although Ryan and Aizen didn't know the precise reason, there were rumors circulating that Lord Ren was about to introduce a new approach to combat in wars or conflicts.
Although both were initially skeptical, they couldn't deny that their lord was remarkably innovative in his approach. He presented revolutionary ideas for a wide range of problems. There were even extravagant rumors that the lord had been sent by a goddess or something similar, although these stories were mostly treated with humor. However, it was undeniable that Lord Ren showed genuine care for his people and subjects.
While these thoughts filled Aizen's mind, Ryan, who had been walking silently beside him, broke the silence with his voice echoing through the hallway they were passing through.
"If the lord and the princess really do come, I think I'll be more interested in the princess. You know, everyone says she's the most beautiful on the continent. Lord Ren is truly fortunate to have her as his wife. I just hope there won't be any problems in their relationship. After all, even though he's now a noble, he used to be a commoner"
Ryan commented, letting out a sigh. As Ryan pointed out, it was well known that Lord Ren had been a commoner before becoming a noble. However, with his intelligence and achievements in the war between Solaris and Storne, he managed to acquire the title of Baron, although he was recently promoted to Viscount.
"Well, if the rumors prove true and they really are coming, I guess you'll have a great opportunity to fulfill that dream"
Aizen replied, sending a playful smile Ryan's way. For Aizen, no matter how dazzling the princess might be, in the end, he would only have eyes for Penelope.
After this brief exchange of words between them, the day passed quickly, but without major events. Before Aizen and Ryan knew it, the sun had already set some time ago, leaving only traces of light that, although weak, were still enough to illuminate the barracks.
At dinner, the group had another lively chat. Later, Aizen and Ryan headed to the guys' dorm, while Penelope and Cassy went to the girls' dorm. All four of them had a peaceful night's sleep.
When they woke up the next morning, something relatively unusual happened: they were all summoned to gather on the large field used for physical training. A long line of cadets formed, and among them were Penelope, Aizen, Ryan, and Cassy. However, the reason for the summoning remained unknown to the group.
"Hey, do any of y'all really not know why we've been called here? Seriously, we've been here for nearly an hour and nothing's happened"
suddenly Ryan's voice echoed across the area. Hearing his friend's words, Aizen responded.
"We've already said we don't know. Also, hush up. Forgot you've been reprimanded by the instructor three times for talking when you shouldn't?"
Aizen retorted. Hearing Aizen's words, Ryan shrunk in his spot and muttered.
"Man, but it's extremely boring just standing here for a whole hour doing nothing"
Ryan emphasized his viewpoint with his words. However, the conversation didn't get a chance to prolong. Before Aizen could reply, the sound of footsteps echoed, signaling the commander's arrival as he ascended the podium. Using one of the new voice amplification technologies, an innovation invented by Lord Ren, the commander began to speak.
"Y'all are probably wondering why you've been summoned here today"
The commander said. His words didn't elicit specific reactions, and indeed, he was right. Everyone patiently awaited the explanations coming from the commander.
Speaking of which, the current commander was an elderly man who had fought for the Kingdom of Solaris in the past. Although he no longer participated in combat, he had been appointed by Lord Ren to oversee the newcomers and share his vast experience.
"The reason for this summoning is actually quite straightforward. I reckon many of you've heard rumors, but Lord Ren and his betrothed, Princess Emi, will be paying us a visit shortly. And today, we'll have a demonstration of the new weapon that's been developed. Starting today, it'll be integrated into our training"
The commander explained in a serious and solemn tone. Aizen felt a momentary wave of excitement at the news. Being a great admirer of Lord Ren, he could hardly wait for the chance to see the man in the flesh. However, before that, a question arose in his mind.
What kind of weapon was this exactly, to the point that they needed to incorporate it into training? Would it be a new sword capable of cutting through metal? However, this idea raised questions about the additional weight such material would require, potentially making the sword heavier than normal.
Ultimately, this seemed unfeasible in the long run, as only a few would be capable of wielding such a weapon. Aizen knew he just needed to wait for more information. Still, he was excited. After all, the weapon was created by his idol. At least, Aizen figured he could set his expectations sky high.
