Maxwell carefully laid Mellisa in the car's back seat, then closed the door.
He pulled out his phone and dialled
the doctor's number. After a few rings, the doctor answered. "Doctor, I need you at my house when I get home. If possible, bring the hospital with you," Maxwell said, his voice husky and his face red with anger.
"The whole hospital?" she asked, frowning. "I'll be there soon," she said, not wanting to offend Maxwell. "If I get home before you, your career is over," he said and hung up. He got in the car, started the engine, and drove off.
….
The sound of Tina's heels clicking on the floor echoed through her room as she paced, her phone clenched tightly in her hands. She checked it over and over, her brow furrowed in frustration. "Why hasn't this fool called yet?" she muttered.
Suddenly, her phone rang and her eyes lit up. She answered it quickly. "I hope you've got good news," she said.
On the other end of the line, a sigh. "He found her?" Tina asked, her teeth gritting in anger. "Why didn't you fight with Maxwell? Are you a coward?"
"Hold it right there," Zick said. "You wanted me to enter a den of lions? You could have seen his face - that man is dangerous. We'll have to meet."
"Send me the address," Tina said, cutting the call. Her face reddened and a sheen of sweat formed on her forehead. "I won't let him win her heart," she said angrily, throwing her phone on the bed.
.....
The doctor had arrived at the Williams residence and, with the help of the maid, they had set up the room where Mellisa was going to sleep. All the necessary equipment was already in place.
Shina, Michelle, Linda, and Tina emerged from their room upon hearing the commotion in the house. "What's going on here?" Shina demanded, her gaze directed at one of the nurses who was passing by.
"Mr. Williams asked us to be here," the nurse replied before leaving.
"I hope Mellisa's okay, or else the bitch who gave Mellisa's husband our location is going to face my wrath " Shina muttered, her eyes still fixed on Tina who was just as confused.
"Shina, calm down," Michelle said.
"Don't get angry," Linda said, adding to Michelle's words. "How will you take care of Mellisa if you hurt yourself?"
Shina's face reddened in anger, "Shut up both of you, I am not going to spare her. She crossed all the lines today." she said that
Tina could not take the insult, "Why are you accusing me of something I don't know about? Aren't you being ridiculous right now?" she asked.
Shina glared at her, wishing she could grab her hair and push her on the floor, but held back. "I said I won't spare that bitch, I don't remember mentioning someone's name, or are you the bitch who has given Mellisa's husband our location?". She asked trying to control her anger,
Tina shook in anger, "How dare you disrespect me like that?" she asked angrily
"What will you do? Do you think I'm scared of you? Say another word and I will show what I'm talking about."Shina said in a challenging tone
Before Tina could even open her mouth to speak, Maxwell burst through the door carrying Melissa in his arms. She appeared to be unconscious. Michelle, followed by Shina and Linda, rushed towards the door, but Maxwell paid no attention to them, instead quickly making his way upstairs. The trio followed him, trying to keep up with his pace.
Maxwell reached the room and the doctor was already waiting for him. He placed Melissa on the bed and turned to the doctor. "Please, check if she is okay," he said in a desperate voice.
"I need to examine her alone," the doctor said.
"No, you can examine her in my presence. Just start doing your job now," Maxwell said, his voice now cold and stern. His disapproval of the situation was clear.
Without wanting to make Maxwell angrier The doctor carefully examined the unconscious Mellisa, checking for vital signs and other indicators of health. She felt for Mellisa's pulse and listened to her heartbeat. She then took a look at Mellisa's pupils, and her eyes reacted normally, indicating she was still alive. The doctor then proceeded to take Melissa's temperature, which was normal.
Next, the doctor listened to Mellisa's lungs, checking for any abnormal sounds. She examined Mellisa's, noting all the bruises on her face, and also checked Mellisa's hair and nails for any abnormalities.
Finally, the doctor checked Mellisa's reflexes and muscle strength, looking for any signs of paralysis or weakness. Satisfied with her examination, the doctor concluded she was in stable condition and would likely make a full recovery from the wound on her face.
"Don't worry," the doctor said reassuringly, "She is fine, she just fell unconscious due to exhaustion and pain. The nurses will attend to her wounds and give her a 24-hour drip to provide nutrition for the babies until she wakes up. Let her rest for now, and the nurse will look after her until tomorrow morning."
Maxwell nodded in response, his eyes filled with concern.
The three girls entered the room when the doctor opened the door. "What did the doctor say?" Michelle asked, her throat tightening and her heart breaking at the sight of Mellisa in such a state.
"The doctor said she's fine," Maxwell said, his gaze shifting to Shina, who was shaking with rage. "Please try to calm Shina down for me; if she keeps seeing Mellisa in this condition, her anger will only increase and she might hurt herself. "
Michelle, feeling the heavy weight of the situation, held Shina's hands tightly and walked out of the room with Linda following behind them. She had been observing Shina's behaviour ever since Maxwell had informed her of Mellisa's kidnapping and she knew something was wrong, but she chose to remain silent.
Maxwell, his heart filled with anguish, sat by Mellisa's bedside, wishing to take revenge on Zick for what he had done. However, he had made a promise to Mellisa to let her fight her own battles and he was determined to uphold it. He wanted to make Zick suffer by taking away everything he had and forcing him to live on the streets.
It was already evening when Melissa opened her eyes and took in her surroundings, realising she was at home. Her gaze fell on Maxwell, who was sleeping with his head resting on the bed, and her eyes fell on the drip on her right hand. With a frown, she shook Maxwell's arm slightly.
Maxwell opened his eyes immediately and asked, "Melissa, are you okay?"
"Why aren't you in your room? Do you like my room this much?" Melissa asked, her eyebrows raised in disbelief.
Maxwell squinted his eyebrows together, confused. "Aren't you going to cry at all? I know you want to, so don't hold back trying to be strong. I won't stop you this time," he said.
But instead of crying, Melissa burst into laughter, shocking Maxwell.
Melissa stopped laughing. "This is a new Melissa. I'm officially done crying, but I'm going to make others cry instead. Crying is pointless; it doesn't solve anything. The only way to solve problems is to defend oneself,"Melissa said. She had promised herself that she would never cry again. With a smirk, she was ready to face the world.
