Chapter 73 She has passed away.

Maxwell's eyes widened in shock and his heart started racing as he held Mellisa in his arms. "Bring a car," he yelled with urgency. Shina, who was quick on her feet, ran to the garage and returned with the car in no time. Maxwell gently placed Mellisa in the back seat and closed the door. Walking around the car, he hopped in and Shina started the car with great efficiency.

Mark and Shayn ran towards Michelle who stood rooted on the ground. "Michelle, we should follow them to the hospital. Go and fetch your jacket and Shina's," Mark said with a sense of urgency. Shayne had already reached his car and started the engine.

Without wasting a moment, Michelle ran to the car and entered inside. With no other choice, Mark followed her. As soon as he entered the car, Shayne drove off, heading to the hospital.

Upon Shina's arrival at the hospital, the team of doctors was already waiting outside, as Maxwell had informed them beforehand. Without wasting any time, he carefully carried Mellisa out of the car and ran with her to the doctor, who had placed her in the wheelchair and rushed inside with her.

"Mr. Williams, I have told you before that she shouldn't be stressed. This time, her condition is crucial, and I'm sorry to say, but I don't know if this surgery will be successful or not," the doctor said, clearly not pleased.

"Doctor, please," Maxwell said, his eyes brimming with tears. "Do everything you can to save her, please."

"I'm sorry, Mr. Williams, but I can't promise anything. Expect the worst," the doctor said. "Please excuse me, I will start the surgery." The doctors said and walked away.

"Dad, we should not lose hope now.", Shina said as she gently rubbed Maxwell's back. "Melissa will be just fine, and I believe that she will make it."

Maxwell's words were filled with a newfound determination, "You are absolutely right, Melissa will make it out alive," he declared.

In a matter of minutes, Shayn, Mark, and Michelle arrived at the hospital and were directed to where Shina and Maxwell were waiting.

"Is Melissa okay?" Michelle inquired as soon as she reached them.

Shina's eyes were filled with tears as she replied, "The doctor said we should prepare for the worst. I just hope the surgery is successful, or I might just lose it."

"Let's stay positive," Michelle reassured her. She took Shina's hand and led her to a nearby bench, "Everything will be alright. Melissa is strong and young, she'll pull through."

After two hours of pacing, Maxwell rushed towards the doctor as soon as they emerged from the theatre. Shina and Michelle quickly followed him, rising from the bench. Although the light was still red, they were hopeful for the best.

"Doctor," Maxwell called out anxiously, "Is she okay?"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Williams," the doctor replied with a heavy sigh. "We tried our best, but Mellisa has fallen into a coma. If she doesn't wake up in the next two hours, then I'm afraid she will never wake up again. The nurse will transfer her to the ward, and you can go and meet her. However, I must warn you that only her family members can give her a reason to come back to life."

Maxwell stumbled back, almost falling to the ground. Mark quickly caught him, but the news had already hit him hard. His eyes widened with shock, but his brows furrowed with an objection.

The nurse emerged from the theater, pushing the hospital bed that carried Mellisa's lifeless body. The sight was enough to make everyone's heart sink with sadness. The group trailed behind the nurse, their faces contorted with grief. Michelle and Shina were already in tears, their sobs echoing through the halls. Shayne and Maxwell stood by helplessly, their eyes brimming with tears.

We should leave them alone. Come on, Shina and Michelle," he said, "You must control your tears and pray for Mellisa to recover."

Shina, however, could not bear to watch Mellisa in such a state. Her heart was heavy with pain, and she ran out of the room sobbing. Shayne quickly followed her, worried about her mental state.

Michelle left the ward with Mark, still sobbing uncontrollably.

Maxwell wobbled towards the bed, his legs quivering with terror and hopelessness. Melissa's body was adorned with numerous drips, and her mouth was obstructed by an oxygen supplier. He couldn't hold back his tears any longer as the thought of losing Mellisa consumed him with agony. After Tina left him, he swore to himself that he would never let another woman into his life. But then Mellisa appeared out of nowhere, and he fell hopelessly in love with her. She was so innocent, beautiful, humble, and kindhearted that he couldn't resist her. In no time, he was head over heels in love with her, more than he ever loved Tina. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, wake up next to her every morning, and tell her how much he loved her. But now, she was planning to leave him, and the mere thought of it made his heart ache with unbearable pain.

Maxwell slumped onto the chair next to the bed, taking Mellisa's pale hand in his. Tears streamed down his face as he whispered with a cracked voice, "Mellisa, I love you so much. Seeing you like this hurts me beyond words. Please don't leave me alone. I've made you a part of me, I've given my heart to you, and you've become my oxygen, tell me how will I live without those things? I can't. "Maxwell said, his heart was feeling like someone was sewing it with big needles and it was painful." Shina, Michelle, and Linda, they would be sad without you around, please come back Mellisa, I will do everything you want I can be your servant but please don't die leaving me alone. "

Maxwell sat beside Mellisa, talking to her as if she were conscious, but to no avail. She remained motionless, not even twitching a finger.

Maxwell's eyes widened in horror as the machine began to beep. He dashed out of the room, but fortunately, the doctor was already on her way to the ward, as two hours had already passed.

"Doctor, something is wrong with the machine," Maxwell said, his voice trembling with anxiety.

The doctor rushed to the room and checked Mellisa's pulse. Her face fell when she couldn't feel anything.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Williams, but your wife has passed away," the doctor said, her tone heavy with regret. "I'm truly sorry."
