Chapter Twelve

Waking up today I don't feel any different than I did yesterday. The power ceremony ended at about 2:00 and with so many powerful witches and warlocks in one place clean-up was less than ten seconds. My mom and aunt were the last to leave which was around 4:00 am. My mom did bring up the fact that wolves were lurking before left. "Your mate, your problem and I trust you to take care of it," Were her last words to me.

I do have plans for the wolves but not just yet. My plans are for Jason but the rest of the pack won't just stand by a watch me take out their Alpha so I plan to crush anyone or anything that stands in the way of getting what I want and I'm not above putting his lapdogs down. He already turned eighteen back in January so rightfully he's alpha but he doesn't take over the pack till after graduation which is three months away. He's always been a cocky bastard, even when we were kids. He's waiting to take over the pack that way his dad has no say in what he does. Patience was the first thing thought to all witches so if he wants to play the waiting game that was fine by me. I finally crawled into bed at 7:00 am. It is Sunday so I don't plan on leaving this bed for anything but the bathroom.

For school today I went with gray skinny jeans a white corset top with my black combat boots and a black leather jacket. My hair was pulled up in a high ponytail because I planned on taking my bike today. I grabbed my bag pack, and put my phone in it, then grabbed my keys, helmet, and gloves, then I was out the door. This bike is a dream to handle especially on the freeway which came in handy when a black SUV swerved out of its lane as I go past it. Lucky for me there wasn't a car on my left and I was fast enough to swerve and missed being run over. Son of a bitch.

The idiot braked, coming to a sudden halt just as I swerved back into the right lane. This is a big fucking highway but this is also a big ass bike and with four lanes of car and early morning traffic there was not much room to maneuver. So while I did stop from crashing head-on with the car in front of me what happened next was no better. Since I didn't have the space to maneuver and stop properly I ended up slamming into the side of the SUV, my shoulder taking most of the hit. As soon as my shoulder hit the SUV it took off into traffic and I wanted to blow it the fuck up. I know for sure that wasn't an accident but I didn't know who was driving or what purpose they had for trying to run me over at 8 am in the morning. I'm sure as hell going to find out. I have a pretty good idea of where to start too. I'm just sorry I couldn't set the bastards on fire. This was going to put me in a bad mood.

As I predicted, I was in a bad mood all day, no matter what I did I just couldn't shake it. To make matter worse Lydia and Tameka weren't at school today and when I called to find out why both their phones were off. With nobody to vent to let's just say the devil himself wouldn't want to say hi to me right now. I needed to go for a run and see if I can burn off some of this anger but I couldn't leave my bike at school. Looking around the lot I spot Shane, he lives at the packhouse but his parents live in a town which was about a ten-minute drive from their house to mine. Perfect.

"Hey, Shane!

He looks behind him but not at me so I called out again this time waving a hand to let him know who was calling. He hesitated, I'm guessing because of Jason but he came over to me.

"Hey, Payton, what's up?"

"Hey, Shane, can you do me a favor and take my bike home for me please, here are the keys and two hundred dollars don't scratch my bike Shane, Just park it in the Yard."

I didn't wait for his answer, I dropped the keys and the cash in his hand and walked away. I walked to the back of the school and into the woods, only taking my boots off. I hid them behind a tree with my phone inside. The change was fast and effortless, my clothes ripping to pieces in the process, and as soon as my paw's it the ground I took off running. I must have circled the entire territory like five times but I was still angry and still wanted to rip someone's head off so just keep going. My lungs started burning and it got harder to catch my breath, only then did stop. I stopped by a lake about twenty miles from school and laid down to rest before I'd have to go back for my boots and phone.

I must have dozed off because when I'd stopped to rest the sun had just begun to set but when I opened my eyes the moon was high overhead. Wynter was trying to take control but we did not have time for another run we had to get back.

"No, let me take over we're in danger."

Immediately I was on my guard, combining advanced sight in my wolf form with control over the element as a witch I did a quick scan of the area in all directions, searching as far as my scenes could stretch. I picked up six wolves. They were spreading out, surrounding me. The funny thing is I couldn't pick up a scent from any one of them and I was pretty sure I was still in Creek wood's territory which means they were either from the pack or they were rogues. This is so not what I need right now

Wynter was on edge and so was I, I don't fancy going up against six wolves that couldn't be identified. My dad always says, know your enemy and never go in blind. Plus my witch half works better when I'm in my human form.

Then again I'm still a little worked up.

Scanning the area I came up empty for a good opening but the only way out was through them and I was more than fine with that. My only other option is to enter no man's land and that's not going to happen so I prepare myself for the fight ahead.

A gray and white wolf came charging at me from my southwest side, I dig my Paw's into the dirt and wait for the right time to strike but the right time never came as he stops ten feet away from me which I realized a few moments later was only a distraction when another wolf came barreling out of the darkness at me from the right. He went straight for my throat and I dived out of the way but as soon as jumped out of the way the first wolf came at me again. This time biting down on the back leg causing us to crash into the other wolf and send all of us into the lake.
