Renya Mataguchi

Cold... What's up with this hellish cold... It feels like I'm in the middle of damn Siberia...

I can barely feel my hands and feet. Is this the afterlife???

Feeling that my life is still intact I open my eyes, but I see an unfamiliar environment.

"Is this a camp? I should've been in my room... or maybe the hospital..."

'Clearly I was walking home a bit tipsy after drinking with my friends, but I remember seeing flashing lights when I was crossing the street and blank...'

"Shit... did I get fucking isekaied?..."

I look around to gauge my surroundings but I don't see anything related to any novel or game I enjoyed recently, and I'm clearly wearing an military uniform.

Just as I was about to inspect my belongings I get a blinding headache. So much information is being injected into my brain!!

I grab my head at the deathly pain and roll around the ground but the fucking snow is just making the pain worse.

This!! Renya Mataguchi... I remember 'my' memories now...

'Shit! I'm Renya Mataguchi! This incompetent mental strength bushido bastard...'

'No wait! Fuck I'm bald!!!!'

Feeling the hair in my scalp I sigh in relief. I sit down to gather my thoughts first. Its 1919 (8th Year Taisho) and I'm in fucking Siberia fighting the communists.

Starting from January 12, 1918 Japan intervened in earnest in the ongoing Russian Civil War. As part of the Western effort to destroy the radical Communist ideology, the Japanese joined in order to gain as much interests as it can; either by creating a pro-Japanese buffer state or outright territorial conquest.

I wanted to lament my situation some more but I soon caught the gazes of my platoon members. It seems my unsightly appearance might have made me look unreliable to my men.

Now that I'm a soldier this can't continue, for my and the soldiers survival, maintaining morale is important. But just then, my first life or death crisis in either lives appeared.

"Captain! Captain! Enemy Raid! The Reds are coming!"

At the anxious cry of my subordinate I start hearing faint sounds of gunshots from where he came. Imagining the grim possibility of getting bayoneted by the commies I hurriedly stood up and took out my Nambu pistol, unfortunately the gun wasn't loaded and I couldn't find any magazines.

The Nambu pistol didn't have a safety device and was notorious for misfiring just for being holstered, naturally Renya didn't want a hole somewhere in his body so he stored the magazine separately.

It seems the past Renya also found carrying the magazine around annoying so I'm currently busted. With my survival instincts accelerated by the approaching gunfire, I unsheathe my Type 19 Kyū Guntō (Military Sword) and urgently shout at my men.

"Hold your positions you bastards!!!"

"Yes? But previously the commander said to retreat if we engage with the enemies?"

"Ughhh.. Shut up and stand firm if you don't want to die you assholes!!!"

"Ye.. Yes?"

The man who answered, Teruaki Satō, Renya's adjutant, looked at me in embarrassment. The standard practice for Renya Mataguchi so far was to gather his men and retreat whenever they spotted enemies. So my current appearance was a complete °180 to the past Renya.

Ignoring my men's bewilderment, I run to nearby tree slump and inspect the enemies. I calm my trembling heart by looking at my saber. Cool... I shake my idle thoughts and focus.

'No flag, few troops, they're shooting too far to expect a kill... Suspicious!!'

Feeling goosebumps coming from behind me, I turn around and spot a grizzly bear wearing human skin trying to approach me.

Spotting this grizzly partisan only a meter from killing me, I threw myself towards the man and stab him in the belly with my saber. I meet his eyes and see the life in his eyes slowly diminish.

Suppressing the nausea from my first time killing, I raise my bloodied sword in the air and urgently shout at my platoon.

"Its a trap! They're coming from behind! The front is a diversion!"

"The enemy are at our rears!! Preserve ammunition and fire when you see the fucking reds!!!"

At my orders, the soldiers hurriedly prepared to open fire and turned around. Seeing the sight of commies slowly approaching them from behind stunned them for a moment. But after regaining their senses in a split second they begin to open fire.

Bang! Taang! Bang! Bang!

As expected from the Siberian Expeditionary Force, they were the elite of Japan. The ragtag partisans soon became a pile of fertilizer. The commies seeing their comrades dissintegrate soon lost morale and started running away.

I checked if a diversionary force were preparing to attack, but it seems they've already started to retreat. Seeing that there was no threat to the rear I scream even louder to my men.

"All men! Charge bayonets! Its time to show these cowards what the devil looks like! Charge! Charge!!!"

"""Wowaaaa!!!!"""

"Banzai Motherfuckers!!!"

The platoon was taken aback by the sudden engagement, but having already overpowered the enemy in a firefight, and seeing me charge head first wielding only a damn sword, the troops morale went sky high.

I ran and shouted while slicing and dicing commies. My men having tasted blood for the first time because of my constant retreats started going crazy, cutting down partisans, shooting, stab with a bayonet. This was their first battle so it seemed that the adrenaline turned them into berserkers.

"Die you rednecks!!!"

"Bastards! Die!!!"

"Come here I'll gouge your eyes and eat them! Hahahaha!!!"

["Awwww! Mom... save me!!"]

["Oh god! Crazy yellow monkeys!!! Aaaahh!"]

The Ivans wearing red armbands fled in terror while looking at their comrades being devoured by what seemed to be Satan's spawns.
