Accusation and Confrontation

"You're not from here, are you?"

"No, we came to get some fast food and survive."

"Can you help us? Please, we have women and children here, and our leader isn't doing anything," the person pleaded.

"Sorry, we can't do it," Shen Yize replied firmly.

"Why not? As long as my friends and I can escape, we'll be loyal friends to you! Please, help us."

"The problem is, people who tried to escape were caught by a group of zombies. They're probably dead," Zhang Rui explained casually.

"Not always. The people we saw may have been used as bait, just like you," the hidden person said, widening their eyes in shock and then turning to sadness, as if they couldn't believe what had happened.

"Impossible! How could this happen? Our leader said he wouldn't let anyone else become a victim!"

"Friend, this is the extinction of humanity! You can only trust yourself. People will prioritize their own survival, regardless of the promises made. If I were you, I would take my sister and leave," Jiang Zhi advised, his eyes conveying determination.

"Can I join you? I won't be a burden; I can drive, cook, clean, and I have good self-defense skills from my taekwondo days."

Jiang Zhi glanced at Shen Yize and Zhang Rui, then shrugged, as if asking his two friends. Zhang Rui and Shen Yize simply nodded.

"Of course," Jiang Zhi said to the person after receiving the response from his friends.

They couldn't pass through the entrance because it was already filled with zombies. Finally, they decided to go through another store while grabbing some supplies they could carry and find a way to reach the parking area.

"Oh damn, how are we going to get through?" Shen Yize asked.

"Come on, let's quickly enter that store. We'll find an escape plan from there."

They ran into the store swiftly and quietly before the zombies noticed their presence. They quickly locked the door and looked through the window, observing the restless wandering of the zombies outside. It was a terrifying sight before them, but there was no time to despair. Life continued, and they had to keep surviving.

"We need to find a way out as soon as possible!" Zhang Rui shouted.

"Yes, but how?"

"Let's check the back of this store."

Jiang Zhi always took the lead, guiding his companions and the man who had been following him earlier, along with his younger brother. They continued to move quickly and cautiously. After running to the back of the store, they found an emergency exit door. Upon a brief inspection, it seemed safe, so they quickly made their way out. Shen Yize observed that there were no signs of zombies there. He signaled to Jiang Zhi that the streets felt safe. They ran again until they found their way to their vehicle.

"Hooray, we made it out!" Zhang Rui exclaimed with joy, relieved that they had completed their mission.

"Guys, we need to leave before those zombies show up!"

However, something unexpected happened. As they were about to get into the car, someone approached them angrily, wielding a sickle in their hand.

"Hey, what do you all think you're doing?" the person shouted while brandishing the sickle.

While holding a sickle, the stranger continued to approach and shouted loudly, "Ahh! All of you must die too!"

His eyes appeared red, his anger was not mere talk. Shen Yize and the others seemed bewildered by the stranger's behavior.

The stranger ran and intended to attack Shen Yize since he was close by, but with Shen Yize's superior reflexes, he quickly retaliated by kicking the hand holding the sickle and then bringing the person down to the ground.

Zhang Rui, shocked by the incident, shouted and scolded the stranger, "Don't panic us by talking about death like that."

"Shen Yize, are you okay?" Zhang Rui approached Shen Yize.

"I'm fine. But this killer annoys me." Still lying on the ground and holding the person down with his elbow, Shen Yize also immobilized the person's wrist, preventing them from moving.

"You're going to kill me like you killed my friends, huh?!" The stranger continued to shout and struggled, though his efforts were in vain.

The stranger's outburst certainly confused Shen Yize.

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Shen Yize was surprised by the stranger's words.

Not only Shen Yize, but Zhang Rui and Jiang Zhi were also taken aback. How could someone accuse them of being murderers when they hadn't killed anyone at all?

"You're the ones trying to kill someone and blaming others! You're insane!" Zhang Rui, annoyed, retorted against the stranger.

"Hey, weren't you one of the people who left the mall with the leader?" The man saved by Jiang Zhi's group said.

"You, Mu Yang!"

The stranger was surprised to see that Mu Yang was still alive.

"Hey, you're alive! I can't believe it, but you're associating with them! Do you know they're murderers?!"

While still trying to struggle, the stranger yelled, "Ah, I can't stand them! They didn't lift a finger to help my friends!"

"You all left them to die and become zombie food!"

Hearing the stranger's anger, Jiang Zhi and the others thought about what had happened a while ago. Just before they entered the minimarket and met Mu Yang. They still remembered the details of the events some time ago. The decision they made not to save the people who might have been in a store.

"Yo, it's not our fault! You almost got us attacked by zombies!" Zhang Rui argued in his casual and irritating manner.

Jiang Zhi also asked, "Did you throw something at us?"

The stranger now remained silent. It seemed that what Jiang Zhi said was true. And he couldn't deny it.

"He's not saying anything, so it must be him!" Zhang Rui exclaimed angrily.

Shen Yize still stared at the stranger. Despite his initial frustration, he didn't want to hastily conclude that the man who had tried to kill him was evil.

"Mu Yang, do you know him well? It's strange he's here alone while the others fled or maybe died." Shen Yize asked Mu Yang.

"No, I only know that we were in the same group. He also forced the leader to be bait so I could divert the zombies' attention for them to escape."

"This person can't be trusted, for sure." Zhang Rui cornered the stranger again.

The stranger, on the other hand, continued to blame Jiang Zhi and the others. "None of you have mercy, without hesitation!"

"Even if we help them, they'll just turn into zombies and eventually die," Zhang Rui continued to argue with the stranger.
