Decision: Leave or Stay

He was utterly surprised to see his sister still alive. After thinking she had died, he felt a little relieved this time knowing she wasn't killed when the zombies attacked the town before, while they were in the minimarket.

"Are you sure?" Jiang Zhi inquired.

"I'm sure! I'm going to save her, she's the one left behind!" Mu Yang knew that his sister was in trouble, as she was left behind by his team leader as bait. He had seen it many times before, the team leader leaving some people behind to distract the zombies so that the rest of the group could escape.

Although Jiang Zhi's view of the distance was blurry, he could understand the situation from their words, even if he couldn't see it clearly. This was due to his instincts, honed by years of experience, and the survival instinct that arose from the chaos happening at the moment.

"Alright, let's go!" Jiang Zhi said confidently.

"Will we make it on time? It's not right next to us!" Zhang Rui seemed uncertain whether they could save Mu Yang's sister.

"Uh oh, looks like we might be in trouble. Zombies have invaded the building, and..."

"AHHH!" A horrifying scream echoed from the neighboring building.

As they listened attentively, their hearts pounded at the piercing scream that resonated through the air, echoing from the building next to them.

Across the building from the orthopedic clinic, several people can be seen quarreling. A large man with a fierce expression stands before two subordinates. This person is the head of the team that had promised safety to Mu Yang and his friends.

Facing one of the three individuals quarreling with the team leader is none other than Mu Xiao, Mu Yang's younger sister.

"Team Leader, how could you do this to us? Seriously? You said you would safely take me to Base C001, and my brother died trying to help us!" Mu Xiao exclaims, who happens to be Mu Yang's sister.

As anticipated by Mu Yang, it's true that Mu Xiao is the one who has been sacrificed. Jiang Fei, their friend, is now also going to be sacrificed. Jiang Fei appears to be weak and in pain.

"Listen, Mu Xiao, you and that girl are nothing but burdens. You've done nothing but hide behind others and not do your part," the Team Leader blames.

"As you can see, most of our team with special abilities has been wiped out. There's no one left to protect you," he adds.

"You can't leave us like this!" Mu Xiao yells in disbelief at the decision.

This event is exactly as Shen Yize had described before. In the end times, people will sacrifice each other to survive. Whether it's friends, siblings, or even strangers, they will prioritize their own lives over others'.

"Boss, the zombies are getting closer!" one member reports.

"Move and get into the car now!" the Team Leader commands.

Mu Xiao, Mu Yang's twin sister, tries to hold the Team Leader's hand and pleads. She can't bear being left behind like this. There's nothing to save her from the hungry zombies out there.

"No, you can't leave us! You can't do this to us! Remember your promise, Team Leader!" Mu Xiao demands accountability.

"Don't obstruct and test my patience! Look at your friend, she's badly injured, she'll be a big problem for us if she comes along!" The Team Leader seems completely unmoved.

"But..." Mu Xiao still tries to reach the Team Leader's hand.

"No 'buts.' If you want to come, choose someone from among us to replace you. Do you want to?" the Team Leader offers. He knows that the girl won't have the heart to do that. To choose someone else to take her place.

Mu Xiao looks at the people surrounding the Team Leader. They seem terrified at the thought of being chosen by Mu Xiao. But, of course, Mu Xiao won't do that. Her heart is too kind for such an impossible task. She lets out a long sigh of resignation.

"Fine, just go. You'll feel so guilty for sacrificing all those people just for your own sake!" Mu Xiao curses.

"Alright, enough drama! Everyone get in the car, we're leaving!"

The vehicle speeds away hastily while the terrifying roars of zombies can be heard from a distance. An ironic scene unfolds – the desire to save lives has erased a person's humanity.

"Hey Jiang Fei, let's go upstairs and find a hiding place first. I'll take you," Mu Xiao tries to wake up her friend Jiang Fei.

"Well, there's no point. You go ahead, I'll divert the zombies' attention while you escape!" Jiang Fei asks Mu Xiao.

"I won't leave you, Jiang Fei. We'll go upstairs together, I'll show you the way."

Suddenly, a young man approaches them. It's none other than Bo Hueming, who is also part of the group and familiar with Mu Xiao and Jiang Fei.

"Mu Xiao, forget about Jiang Fei. Let's just go upstairs!" Bo Hueming says, worried about Mu Xiao.

"Bo Hueming!" Mu Xiao snaps, giving him a sharp look.

"Why didn't you stick with the group?" Mu Xiao asks.

"Just say I got left behind! We need to get inside this building and find a hiding place, now!"

"But, Jiang Fei..."

"Leave her."

"How can I? Jiang Fei..."

"Leave me! Mu Xiao, you have to stay alive and take revenge on the Team Leader for me!" Jiang Fei pleads, convincing her friend.

"Jiang Fei, I can't..."

"Please... I'm relying on you. Go, the zombies are getting closer! Hurry!"

"Let's go! Even if we take Jiang Fei with us, she'll turn into a zombie!" Bo Hueming pulls Mu Xiao's arm.

"Don't be stubborn, Mu Xiao!"

Finally, Bo Hueming leads Mu Xiao into the building, urgently searching for a room to hide in while Jiang Fei's screams echo from behind. A horrifying scream of a human being torn apart by zombies while still alive. Jiang Fei had been bitten earlier. That's why Bo Hueming firmly insisted that Mu Xiao leave her behind. Compassion is precious, but realism is equally crucial now in order to survive.

"Ugh, this is so terrifying! What has the world become? I can't face it, Bo Hueming!" Mu Xiao, unable to bear the sound of Jiang Fei's death, cries and embraces Bo Hueming.

"Calm down, Mu Xiao! Don't be overly dramatic. We're still surviving, so there's hope, right? We'll get through this, just wait." Bo Hueming looks around, observing the situation.
