And further south

We were in the country jail (it was actually the barn in some village). There were two peasants with me. Abdullah & Said.

"What are you sitting for?" I asked Abdullah.

"I've been here for a long time," the old man sighed.

"What about you?" I asked Said.

"I fucked mullah goat."

Sometimes the proprietress of the barn came to feed a donkey. I tried to tell her about democracy.

"When will you, the slackers, be hanged!" she hissed back.

In the evening the hangman arrived. All the dwellers gathered on the edge of the village to stare.

Abdullah was hung first.

It's Said's turn.

"I want to say goodbye to the sun," Said said.

"OK," the hangman said.

It's been two hours. When everyone got tired of it, the hangman cut off his head with a sword.

They stood me on a stool and threw a noose on me.

"Hey you!" the hangman said to me, "you will be forgiven if you sign this paper."

I signed it without looking. He took off the noose from my neck and knocked the stool out from under me. And everyone laughed.
