Chapter19: Prurient

Lights flashed in an array of fantastic colors, bathing the occupants of the nightclub, and causing their shadows to swirl and collide. Music pulsed from hidden speakers, vibrating the people as they twirled and entwined themselves across an expansive wooden dance floor.

A hedonistic display of raw sexuality filled the venue, and it seemed just the right environment to find either enjoyment or dismay depending on what one desired in the moment. For Jaxx, who had shown up moments prior, it was the former she was in search of.

Having left the village right after the encounter with Jessup, she now stood solo at the bar, glass in one hand and a cigarette in the other. It wasn’t often she indulged in the act, mainly when she was in places like this, but as the smoke coiled around her, she felt the last waves of irritation roll off her shoulders and took solace in the fiery feeling filling her lungs.
