Chapter 29: Peremptory PT. 2

The second the words left Jaxx’s lips, the entirety of the council chamber erupted into mixed upheaval. Some cheered, some yelled disparaging remarks, but one thing was certain: everyone had an opinion.

Thurman thrust is hands into the air and tried to quiet down the room, but it seemed even his reasonable voice held no sway at this point.

Jaxx closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose. All of this noise caused a terrible throb to start at the base of her skull and radiate quickly upward over her crown.

She tried to breathe in calming breaths, but she could smell copper from the dried blood still blocking her sinuses. Her stomach churned in response.

It hadn’t been more than a couple of hours since her and Jessup had nearly ended one another, and now she had to listen to this incessant babbling from the pack.
