Chapter Nineteen

Once we were both seated on the couch with pizza on our plates and beer we started eating. The atmosphere was light, not awkward like all the order times we sat down for a meal in the last few months. My anger had long subsided but in its wake came overwhelming disappointment. We had started out in the worst possible way and when I thought we might be able to make it out the other side he went and shattered the little bit of hope that I'd built on this being my second chance, in him being my second chance

It was hard for me to come to terms with everything. Leaving wasn't an option, we were mated after all, and staying seemed like a worse fate.  He has been incredibly good to me in the last few months, even when I refused to speak to him or locked myself away for days because it was the only way I knew to handle all my emotions, and his. He couldn't feel my emotions but I felt every one of his, they were overwhelming.
