Chapter 3

KYLE POB

One week had passed just like that, and here I am sorting some documents and glancing at the computer in front of me. I feel so annoyed and irritated; the memory of Black Rose kissing me is still bugging me. I don't understand why I couldn't take him out of my head. It's not very unlikely for me. I don't want this.

A knock on my table startled me. I lifted my head, and there I saw my high school best friend smiling like a mad dog.

“Oh, Shit! Man!" I smacked him on the chest, but not enough to hurt him. "When did you come here?"

“Just a moment, I am calling you multiple times, but it seems like your soul is flying somewhere and you can't even hear me,” Jax commented without a pause.

“Just thinking about so many things, how was your trip?"

“It's fine; I just don't have a place to stay here for now." Can I stay at your place for a while? "We're going to work together anyway.”

"You idiot! Of course, you can!"

"I heard the news, so have you already met him?” he asked, but oh, well, I'll pretend as if I didn't know. I thought while maintaining my cold demeanor.

“Who?’’

“Come on, dude, you know who I was referring to, Black Rose, so have you already met him?"

Suddenly, I felt like choking on my slobber and falling off the chair upon hearing Black Rose. but I still need to compose myself if I don't want him to tease me to death.

“Oh, yeah,” I answered.

“So how is he?”

“What do you mean?"

“I mean, how are his skills?”

“What skills?"

"You said you met him; did you fight with him?” Upon hearing Jax, I can feel my face heating up.

"Mn,”

“Mn? What Mn? Jax tilted his head to see my face while I kept my impassive temperament.

“He's good; he escaped!” I shrugged my shoulders as if nothing had happened.

"Hahh... I know it; he is truly a clever man,” Jax chuckles.

“We're not in a hurry, and I will make sure to catch him at all costs. It's almost lunchtime; have you already met Chief Wells?"

"Yes, I went to his office first before coming here and discussed a few matters with him.

"It's almost lunchtime; let's have a meal first." We have a meeting at 2 o'clock. "The Chief will introduce you to us and settle some arrangements.”

"He still didn't know about us; let's surprise him later," Jax grins.

"Jax and I go to a nearby restaurant to have some lunch. After all, this is the first time we've met again after we graduated from senior high school. Although we often met through video calls, the person itself is still different. So I want to treat my best friend to a nice meal.

Jax and I have been best friends since elementary school; we went to the same high school after we graduated from elementary school. He saved me from the bullies when I was in 4th grade.

Flashback,

I was getting out of the toilet when four kids blocked my way. Someone pushes me back to the toilet, followed by three more fat boys. They were asking me for money, but I don't have any, as my mother didn't allow me to bring money to the school because my mom always prepared my food and other necessities before going to school.

The bullies didn't believe me. “I saw you earlier going down in a fancy and expensive car; how can you not have money?"

"I'm sure you are pretty loaded, so hurry up!” The bullies insist!

“But I really don't have money in me.”

"Oh boy, don't be stubborn; we will beat you to death if you don't give us your money right now," said the bullies.

"I am telling the truth,” I mumbled.

One of the bullies punched me and pushed me against the wall, while the two other bullies held my arms so I couldn't move and fight back as they were bigger than me. The other one searched my bag and my short packet; they didn't see any money, but they still beat me up and threatened me to bring money the next day or they would beat me again. Another group of kids entered the toilet and saw what was happening.

"Hey! You're doing that again, Maurice? Stop bullying little kids. Why not find someone who can match your size? You coward!” Jax snarled at him.

"What do you care? Why? Are you looking for a fight?" Maurice replied with a smug face.

"huh! Not all kids are like you, Maurice. Simon, go and call a teacher and the guards. Tell them Maurice is bullying kids again.” Simon hurriedly ran to call the teacher.

"You! "We're not done yet!" Maurice growled at Jax and his friend before they quickly sprinted out of the toilet room.

After the bullies were gone, Jax turned to me. "Hey, are you alright? Let's go to the clinic; you have terrible bruises on your face. "Can you stand up?" "Does it hurt so much?" He bombarded me with so many queries.

"Mn, I'm fine, but my body is sore everywhere; they beat me pretty hard.”

"I see, can you even walk?" He asked.

I stood and tried to walk, but my body was in too much pain and my legs were wobbling.

"Come, I will carry you on my back," Jax said, and he crouched down so I could climb on his back. Jax and his friends brought me to the school clinic. I was laying on the patient bed of the clinic while waiting for my mother to pick me up. The teacher had already called my mother while the school nurse treated my wounds and bruises.

Jax didn't leave me until my mother came and asked, "What is my name?"

“Kyle, Kyle Wang." Wow! I am Jax Wang, and we have the same surname. "Nice to meet you, Kyle.” He smiled and extended his hand to me, and I gladly took his hand. I'm so glad to have a new friend.

"You can call me Kyle."

"Okay, Kyle, and you can call me Jax, short for Jaxxon, so we are friends now, right?" he said

“Yes, friends," I answered happily.

"Don't worry about those bullies; they can't harm you anymore,” he commented, and I nodded. We talk about many things while waiting for Mom to pick me up. My bruises hurt, as well as my tummy, because of Jax's silliness. He even talks about his eagerness to be a detective when he grows up and so on.

After a while, my mother came, and Jax and I became best friends from then on. However, we separated after graduating from senior high school as Jax's family moved to Shanghai. And from then on, we only met through video calls from time to time.

End of Flashback

Jax and I were sitting at our reserved table while waiting for our food to be served. My eyes widened, and a familiar face on the table next to us caught my attention. I try to remember the handsome yet beautiful man's face. Oh, I remember now; he is the one that I bumped into at the hotel entrance with a guitar on his back.

I stared at him for quite some time, ignoring Jax in front of me. "He's having his lunch here also," I thought.

I think he noticed me while I was staring at him; I almost choked on my saliva. I quickly averted my gaze somewhere else as he caught me staring at him, and he winked at me.

"Wait, did he smile and wink at me?" "Oh God, he's so beautiful." I panicked internally, picked up a glass of water, and gulped it down in one go.

"Kyle? Dude, are you okay? Hey man, what is happening to you? Did you see a ghost or something?"

"Oh yeah… Yeah, I'm fine. I just... just... saw someone I think I knew. "Yeah, yeah, I'm good."

"And why are you stuttering?" Jax frowned. Before I could answer, our food arrived, and then we just enjoyed the meal quietly. Oh, I was the only one quiet as Jax kept on blabbering, which I didn't understand as my mind cannot focus on anything, and I kept glancing at the beautiful man at the next table from time to time.

A few minutes later, I didn't realize that the beautiful man was now walking in our direction, along with another guy beside him. Just before they passed our table, he smirked and winked at me again. I feel like my face is burning hot, and my breathing becomes hastened for a moment. Thank God Jax didn't notice me as he was busy on his phone.

"Pull yourself together, Kyle Wang." You're not a teenager anymore to keep blushing like an idiot just because a fucking pretty man winked at you. "For fucking god's sake!" I thought about it and scolded myself internally.
