Mom?

Ten meters was not a long distance. The two bad guys quickly get ahead of Lukas.

"I'm not lost!" snapped Lukas, trying not to look scared and stupid. "My father is waiting at the end of the street."

The two thugs looked at each other, then burst out laughing again. "He doesn't look as scared as we think," commented the fat one, laughing, holding his stomach.

The two thugs looked at each other, then the thin one rushed to ambush Lukas nimbly.

"Stop! What have you guys done to me?" Lukas shouted, trying to struggle. "Help!"

The skinny man laughed out loud. "Look, he's scared, mate!"

"Little bunny asking for help!"

"Relax, no one will hear you here, honey!"

The two thugs then laughed again, making Lukas grimace in fear. The little boy looked around, realizing that there was indeed no one around them. He then burst into tears, regretting his recklessness. If only he hadn't been naughty and had obeyed his father, his life would have been much better now.

"Mom," Luke whispered. "I guess I'll see you soon."

One sentence that Lukas said made him feel helpless. However, seeing his mom would never be a bad idea.

Initially, he just wanted to meet someone who looked a lot like his mother. Only that. And why did it have to end like this? Luke thought sadly.

Lukas closed his eyes. He had given up. It's just that, when he closed his eyes, the boy suddenly heard the sound of a dull object being hit followed by screams of pain from the thin man who had been holding him.

Lukas' eyes opened, seeing a blonde woman holding a wooden stick. In front of him, the thin man was lying on his back unconscious.

Meanwhile, the fatty shouted. "Crap! You damn blonde girl! How dare you meddle in our business!"

"Come on, run!" The woman screamed as she dragged Lukas away. The fatty chased after the two without stopping.

Lukas, who was still amazed that someone was helping him, looked at the helper alternately with the fat man. Before long, the boy was exhausted because he had been walking and running for hours ago.

A second later, Luke decided to stop. He bent down, holding his knees breathlessly.

"Hey, boy! Do not stop. He can catch us soon," shouted the young woman.

An annoyed Lukas faced the woman and shouted, "I'm tired! Do you think—"

Luke's words just stopped, as if swallowed into the stomach. His mouth opened wide, looking at the woman intently.

"Mom?" he muttered under his breath.

Because the fatty was approaching. The woman had no other choice but to lift Lukas' body with difficulty. She was running while carrying the boy.

"You're so heavy!" the woman grumbled, almost straining and screaming.

With great difficulty, the woman carried off a boy who had a similar hair tone to hers. She ran as fast as she could. Now, with the same speed as the fat man because by carrying Luke's weight, their total body weight would be comparable to the man chasing them. It should be. However, the fat man managed to shorten the distance.

"Damn! I catch you!" shouted the fat thug angrily. "How dare you hit my elder brother!"

Luck has not been on the side of the two blonde-haired ones. In front of the path they walked, there was only a dead end. The woman turned around and didn't know what to do. She then put Lukas down, ready to face the fat guy.

The woman's slender palms squeezed each other. Her chest was pounding, both from fear and from the exhaustion of running. She bent down to calm Lukas down.

"Kid, I will distract him," the woman whispered to Lukas. "Once he's busy, run and ask someone for help!"

"How about you?" whispered Luke worriedly.

The woman shook her head and reassured Luke that she would be fine. Unfortunately, the idea was too bad for Lukas. How could he just leave his helper like that?

In a flash, the woman pulled away from Lukas, keeping her distance and providing space for the little man to escape. If her calculations were right, the little boy would be safe because they weren't too far from the shopping center.

"Fight me if you dare, you coward!" the woman yelled, addressing the fat man, pointing her fist at the thug.

Of course, the thug was angry to hear that. He ran towards the woman and just as he got closer, the woman hit him with a broken chair that was in a pile of trash.

"Eat this, you trashy villain!" she shouted, hitting the fat man so many times that he screamed for mercy. The woman then turned to Luke and shouted, "Run! I will keep him here!"

Lukas was confused. He wanted to run, but his legs were too heavy to move.

From the end of the street, he could see the thin thug running over with an angry face. The woman panicked even more because Lukas didn't move a leg.

"Come on, run! What are you waiting for? Do you want your mother to cry because she lost you?" the woman scolded without knowing that she had said a forbidden word that confused Luke's feelings.

"You are my mom, aren't you?" asked Lukas, confirming what he should have asked when things had calmed down. "You are still alive and came to this city to look for me and dad, right?" Lukas whined.

"What are you talking about?" The woman was confused by Lukas' question. Caught off guard, behind her, the fatty was ready to hit her back. "Hurry up and run, boy!"

When the woman was busy asking Lukas to leave immediately, that's when, Lukas shouted, "Watch out! Behind you!"

The woman immediately turned around. However, she was too late. The wooden chair in the fat's hands had hit the woman, sending her instantly crashing to the ground.

The fatty laughed with satisfaction, about to chase his real prey. However, the woman's hands, with all her might left, prevented his feet from moving, gripping firmly like an eagle's talons holding the prey.

"Run!" the woman screamed again. The fatty got angry and kicked the woman with his free leg. However, the woman wouldn't let go of her grip on the fat man's ankles.

Lukas had no choice but to comply. He ran, brushing aside his worries about the woman helping him. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough to move. The fatty's companion approached him and managed to catch the boy.

"Let go of me!" Lukas struggled.

Running out of ideas, the woman screamed for help. She was already desperate, she just hoped that someone passing by would hear her screaming.

Lukas also followed her, yelling loudly. They became so noisy and caused many people in the shopping center to hear them, even if it was a little faint.

The fat man was angry. He beat the woman black and blue. Just as he was about to land his foot on the woman's face, that's when several people dressed in black approached. The woman didn't know what happened next because she could only see darkness.
