Time's Up

The next morning, Lukas was awakened by the sweet melody of birds outside the window. He smiled as he realized he was in Ava's home. After dressing up, he went straight to the kitchen where Ava was already cooking breakfast.

"Good morning," he greeted Ava with a broad smile.

"Good morning!" Ava replied cheerfully. "Let's have breakfast. Don't worry, it's just an omelet and a pea salad for myself. You don't have to eat it if you don't want to."

Lukas smiled. "If it's just peas, I can still stomach them."

They quickly had breakfast together. Ava looked tired, contemplating what they would do next.

"I'll take you home after breakfast," Ava said calmly as if it were not a big deal.

However, Lukas was surprised. He wasn't ready to leave yet. He wanted to spend more time with Ava.

"Ava, can we go somewhere before going home?" Lukas asked, hopefully.

Ava looked displeased. "Where is it?"

"I want to … I want to eat some burgers," Lukas answered.

"Okay!" Ava sighed. "Promise me that this is the last one you want from me, okay?"

Ava patted Lukas' shoulders and said, "Lukas, I want to spend more time with you. But this is not the right way. You are supposed to ask for permission from your dad."

Lukas felt a tinge of disappointment at Ava's words, but he understood her concern. He promised her that he would ask for his father's permission the next time they planned to do something together. Ava agreed, and they set off for their adventure.

As they were walking, they stumbled upon a restaurant that appeared to sell delicious burgers. The sight of the burgers on display and the aroma wafting from the kitchen made Lukas unable to resist the temptation to buy one.

"Ava, this looks so good. Let's just buy it here, okay?" Lukas begged eagerly.

Ava looked hesitant and checked the price displayed on the poster on the glass wall. It was expensive. She then opened her wallet to check how much money she had left. "I'm sorry, Lukas, but I don't have enough money to buy a burger here. How about we buy it from a food truck instead?" Ava suggested.

Lukas was disappointed when Ava declined his request to dine at his favorite, albeit pricey, burger joint. But Ava had a plan and led Lukas to a nearby street where several food trucks had set up shop. Lukas felt excited as they walked down the bustling streets of New York. He had never been to this part of town before. The sounds of cars honking, people chatting, and music blaring from storefronts filled the air. The delicious aroma filled the air as they approached the bustling scene.

Lukas scanned the different trucks, each with their own distinct smells and flavors. Finally, he spotted a truck that specialized in Western-style burgers, complete with bacon, cheese, and crispy onion rings. His mouth watered at the sight of the juicy patties, and he eagerly ordered one with a side of fries.

Lukas was hesitant at first. He had always been picky with his food, and he was worried that the burgers from the food truck might not meet his standards. But he didn't want to disappoint Ava either.

"I don't know, Ava," Lukas said, rubbing his chin. "I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for a food truck burger."

Ava rolled her eyes playfully. "Come on, Lukas. It's not like you're a food critic or something. Let's just give it a try. It might surprise you."

Lukas sighed. "Fine, but if it's not good, I'm blaming you."

Ava grinned. "Deal."

They walked towards the food truck, and Lukas could smell the delicious aroma of sizzling meat and spices. His mouth watered even more, and he felt his stomach grumble in anticipation.

They reached the front of the line, and Lukas looked at the menu, feeling overwhelmed by the variety of options. Ava nudged him. "Just pick something, dear."

Lukas nodded and decided to go for a classic cheeseburger with all the fixings. Ava handed over her money to the seller and Lukas received his burger in a matter of minutes.

As he took his first bite, Lukas's eyes widened in surprise. The burger was juicy and flavorful, with just the right amount of seasoning. He looked over at Ava, who was grinning from ear to ear.

"I told you it was good," she said, taking a bite of her own burger.

Lukas nodded, still savoring the taste. "You were right. This is amazing."

Ava wanted to give more. It would be nice if she had more money to buy everything. She smiled as she watched Lukas enjoy himself. She was glad she could make him happy, even if it was just for a short time.

"If I have money, let's try a little bit of everything next time," she said, patting his head gently.

"Sure! I want to order hot dogs and a basket of chicken and waffles as well," he said cheerfully. "Don't worry about money, next time it's on me."

As they sat on a nearby bench, Lukas held the cheeseburger in his hands, taking a moment to appreciate the golden bun and juicy patty. He breathed in the savory aroma and took a bite, relishing the combination of flavors and textures as the melted cheese oozed out from between the layers of meat.

However, the beautiful moment that had calmed Lukas' heart didn't last long. Soon enough, Lukas and Ava froze in surprise as they were suddenly surrounded by the intimidating men. The men's expressions were stern, their arms crossed over their chests, radiating a menacing aura. Lukas's heart raced with fear as he recognized them as his family's private bodyguards.

Ava's intuition told her that they were in trouble. She sensed that the bodyguards didn't approve of their presence there and weren't there to take any chances.

Lukas's mind was racing. He had never seen his family's bodyguards act so aggressively before. He had a feeling that something was wrong, but he didn't know what it was. He looked at Ava, hoping that she had a solution, but she looked as lost and confused as he felt.

"Young Master, you have to come with us," one of the bodyguards spoke up, his voice deep and unyielding.
