Chase~

School on Wednesday went by without a hitch, my only problem was that at times I found my boyfriend spacing out when I was telling him something, yet I held my complaints back, trying to be patient. Being aware that sometimes there were days you just didn't feel like interacting with anyone for that matter, but you keep your mouth shut not wanting to offend them. And that's how I interpreted his actions today, so I let him be most of the time, focusing my mind more on my studies.

Hence I was more than shocked when Tetta asked me.

"You want to come over today?"

"No can't do, I promised Jun we would hang out, how about tomorrow?" It was perhaps better to make plans ahead of time, I couldn't keep expecting him to keep dropping everything else for my sake.

"Only if you don't mind Hanma tagging along." I laughed nervously while admitting.

"I'll pass." The giraffe dropped his love pursuit, but I couldn't be sure it was a long-lasting resolution.

"Right, before you go... will you expect me to keep track of all the 100 days anniversary and any similar crap?" Was that what have been bothering him all day long?

"No." Mostly because I didn't grow up with these kinds of expectations.

"The only datum your little mind needs to trouble itself about is my birthday... and probably the wedding anniversary in the future." I stuck out my tongue on the last part and ran out of the classroom.

When coming back home I skipped on mom's homemade food, promising I would eat it later, knowing full well that my bestie would drag me to a food place anyway. So after changing my clothes and meeting Jun at the designated area, we soon walked into a mall, making rounds in every single store, later sitting down for food, pursuing various topics, one of them being Emma's birthday present.

"No I think jewelry is too much, it's not like you're her boyfriend." Was there some kind of set of hidden rules in this society that I still wasn't aware of?

"Does it matter?" I asked dumbfoundedly.

"Yes, it would be like telling her boyfriend, you're once again trying to pursue Emma." Was it? But I didn't think Draken would be bothered by something so minor, he didn't seem to be the kind of guy that would be insecure about money. But on another note repurposing future Ran's gifts out of convenience, wasn't the best idea. Sure these items were dumped on me all of sudden, but it was barely a couple of days since I received them.

"So what kind of gift are you recommending on buying her?"

"How about some hair care products?" Sounded practical and easy, something most girls would use, but then I started utilizing my head, recalling her hobbies.

"Cooking," I muttered under my nose and suddenly it felt like a lamp lighted itself up in my brain.

"Or since she is passionate about cooking, I could buy her a professional knife, with her name engraved in it!"

"Wouldn't it be expensive? And a little too extreme?" I shook my head and assured the kid in front of me.

"Don't worry, when the time comes, I will buy you a whole professional nail set, for your birthday of course... that is if I don't go bankrupt before it happens."

"Sweet!" He cheered, nearly choking on the water he was drinking but then recalled.

"Shit now I'm sad that my birthday is all the way in April." Was he really set on becoming a nail beautician? Because that's how it looked to me. But then this dumbass added.

"That's why they say to have rich friends." I wanted to smack him for this comment alone, but then I informed him.

"But I do expect you to put in the same effort into my present."

"What? Why? I don't possess the kind of money you do." He whined as if he could already see the item he wanted flying away from him. So I had to remind him.

"Besides money, there is also time and effort you know, you could easily paint my nails for the day and make my hair for the birthday party..." I made a dramatic pause.

"And then suffer on Valentine's day by spending it with me instead." I laughed evilly, while this guy covered his head yelling.

"NOOOOO!" In the middle of the food court.

"What about my future date?" He asked like he was ready to sob.

"Maybe you should first find a boyfriend before wondering how you can wiggle yourself out of that situation."

"You do in fact have a point, but what about you? Shouldn't you spend that day with your boyfriend?" I then reasoned my point.

"My birthday is more important than Valentine's day, he's gonna be satisfied with a chocolate, enough said, besides there is something called White day that the Japanese population is celebrating." He nodded seeing my point.

"Also don't worry Jun about your future, with my social media expertise that is way ahead of anyone else, I will make sure you will become an influencer so people from around the world will come just to have their nails done by you."

"This came out of nowhere, and why would you be ahead of everyone else?" I just coughed and changed the topic quickly, trying my best to make him forget about my suspicious phrasing.

But then a mission popped up.

'Would you rather pick a fight with a police officer by insulting them or steal a shopping cart?' Sure I would probably wiggle myself out and not end up behind the bars, but did I want to risk it? Absolutely not, getting on polices radar was not my intention more so because they would blame my successful dad for my delinquent behavior.

"Have you ever thought about stealing a shopping cart?" I blurted out of the blue in a middle of a different conversation.

"And then push it past a drive-thru? Definitely yes!" He admitted as I was astonished by his enthusiasm.

"I guess let's go do it right now." Even informed him that I had this exact same idea but with the rotating chair instead, the last time we hung out together. And so first we planned our route, decided to steal our vehicle of choice from a nearby establishment from the only Mcdonald's that had a drive-thru option.

"Do you have the change?" Jun asked as I looked inside the purse to find the coin we so desperately needed.

"There." Now when we were set, we played rock, paper, scissors to decide our king for the mighty throne. I won, easily.

"So what are we getting?" Jun asked as I just smiled while mentioning into the microphone.

"Two happy meals to go." We got the chicken nugget deal and once we rolled to the window, the cashier's expression was priceless.

"You kids asked for those happy meals?" He asked as we both nodded and gave him the money while busing out laughing finding the joke hilarious. But since it was already dark and few cars were on the road this thoughtless guy decided to drive with a shopping cart thru the traffic.

"Wait I never agreed to this." Before long we heard sirens creeping closer in our direction.

"Shit we are going to jail," Jun mentioned trying to get out of the way, and that's when another mission came to light.

'Would you rather switch places and escape the police for another ten minutes or let yourself be caught?' So the system wanted me to operate the cart or turn myself in for obstruction of traffic?

"I will not pay a fine, change places with me." When we stopped, I quickly jumped out additionally, put my partner in crime inside the cart, and pushed so hard we were going probably at the highest possible speed.

I heard Jun praying, but at this same time, he was trying to capture this moment by taking photos, what an absolute shit show this whole ordeal was. But I couldn't stop myself from laughing, was this the feeling of adrenaline that made me act so crazy? I couldn't possibly tell.

I also heard myself scream at the top of my lungs.

"Whooohooo." like I was on top of some kind of roller-coaster and not getting nearly hit by passing cars. So the chase was full on, I made sure to keep turning into the most difficult alleys, I wasn't even sure how that was possible, probably another trick from the system. Once the clock was down I quickly abounded the cart, by grabbing my bestie and running off to a hiding place while carrying him around like a sack of potatoes.

"I don't feel so good." He admitted once the coast was clear and we stopped so I could catch my breath, despite once his stomach stopped turning inside and out he admitted.

"This was awesome, let's do this someday again!" I wasn't so sure I fully agreed.

Once I purchased Emma's present, we fully agreed that was enough excitement for today, so I suggested hanging out in my house as an alternative.

As soon my foot stepped inside I found Kazutora and Keisuke sitting in front of the TV watching the news of all the things possible.

"What the?" And that's when they told the tale we just experienced.

"Breaking news, two teenagers were found speeding on a shopping cart in the middle of traffic." Then it shifted focus to one of the eye-witnesses.

"I saw it happen with my own eyes, the chase, can't believe a police car lost a shopping cart...how is that possible...? What...? Ah, the appearances, yes I believe they were a couple, the girl was steering the cart as if she was a professional, and she was laughing like crazy... right right, she had brown bob hair, paired with a brown coat and a blue dress I believe? As for the guy... all I remember is his black and pink hair... no it wasn't a girl, I have eyes you know." The news audience turned their heads slowly facing us, checking us up and down before expressing.

"And you didn't care to invite us? This woman made it sound like you two were having the best day of your life." Were they for real?

"I would not recommend it unless you can drive as precisely as I did, which in itself was a miracle." I guided my guest upstairs, where we started some other gossip while Jun decided to practice on my nails.

"So how is it going with Sanzu?" I asked, wondering how his pursuit of the crazy guy was going.

"Positive improvement. Either I made him see the light that you're not as bad as he makes you out to be, or he is keeping me around to secretly plot my demise as well. Could go either way." I laughed and wished him the best of luck.
