Chapter 21 : Marks

Ash’s POV

The weekend passes by without so much as a hitch, the Fairgrounds eager to promote Valentine’s Day and recoup any losses from those of us who didn’t go to the Fairgrounds for New Year’s. Billie and I had a blast, reaping the benefits of being a “couple” and getting deals on assorted candies, discount movie prices, and dinner.

There was a moment when I thought to brave the local charity Kissing Booth. Suzy Sykes herself was only blocked by a five-cent paywall Billie had donated enough to break. The nickel burned in my pocket, daring me to be different, but I’d backed off. Prom would have to be the first time.

It didn’t stop me, however, from tracing my lips with my tongue and recalling an altogether different kiss, one that was accompanied by stormy blue-gray eyes.
