Ash’s POV

Strawberry Fields wasn’t the actual formal name for the trailer park that stretched behind the steppes of Dustland like a mean case of chickenpox. That was the name that Mayor Stevens had given the Lonton Mobile Home Community when he cut the ribbon in 1946. It was supposed to be an impromptu between the Elysian Fields of the afterlife and a nod to the red-coated tops on all the trailers. A promise for a “sweeter future” Mayor Stevens had said.

Then, not even a year later, the laws had changed. The government had reneged on its promise to reinstate packless veterans with their own titles regardless of pedigree status. Thus, limiting their own ability to formalize their own packs.
