They don't know you're words sent a sharp pain jolting pain and she turned away from her daughter and tried not to hide the pain of her words from her face.
The word burn down her chest and she have to shut her eyes for some moment you endure the pain.
Sunny watched her for some time expecting for her reaction but instead Rebecca looked up at her with a sad expressions.
"You have already assumed the worst about your own mother without giving her a chance to explain anything or make things right, it such a pitiful thing Sunny" Rebecca smiled at her and went about to smooth the fabric of her bed and just then a smile crept to her lips.
Rebecca stood up and made her way toward the her daughter dressing table and reached out for the necklace that was hung at the her jewelry section.
"You still have it" she turned to her angry daughter who was looking at her with do much distaste, Rebecca touched it for a while trying to fight her tears.
"Do you remember when I gave it to you? Rebecca smiled sadly remembering that night she drove her daughter here, she remembered the pain she felt that night at the thought of leaving her daughter in the house of her enemy.
She reached up to touched the same exact necklace on her neck, she has been wearing it all this years.
Reaching up to touch it anytime she missed her daughter "Don't lie to Rebecca, you just wore this necklace today just because you want to convince me that you were missing me....
Just for you to know that nothing you'll do or say would justify you or make me hate you less" she said as she watched the pain her words cause her, she wanted to say more to hurt her more than ever.
But for some unexplainable reason she was hurt watching her there with her eyes crowded with unshed tears, she wasn't going to pity her even if she had this necklace all these years.
She wasn't going to feel anything or pity this woman because of anything on this world. "You know that day was your birthday, after partying for the afternoon with your friends and aunty, I have to drive you here at night....
Sunny listen as she broke off for some while, she watched the sad smile in her face as she continued. "I made you look so beautiful on your birthday and you loved it, I never wanted you leave you, I never wanted it especially not here....
"Then why did you, why did you abandon me Rebecca as if I was nothing to you! "You meant my whole world Sunny, I never wanted to leave you, I never wanted that, all I wanted was for you to always be with me"
"Liar! You're a pure pretentious liar, why then did you leave me? Why then did you leave and never sent any message or even a card to back up your lies!
"I have no other choice Sunny, I have to leave then because it was the only solution"
"You don't love me Rebecca the only thing you care about is your damn self and I'm telling you that nothing you'll say here will make any difference to me"
Rebecca turned her back to the mirror as she watched her daughter. "You have so much hatred for me that you're so blinded by the truth, you only believed one sided truth just the way they have told you"
"I believed it because its the truth". "You believe it Sunny because you choose to..... Rebecca stop to watch her daughter, it was clear to her now that no amount of words said to her would convince her that she had been living in a lie all this while.
"Would it make a difference to you, if I told you that you were taken away from me forcefully because I had nothing or enough money to bribe the corpse....
Would it make a difference if I told you that all this years that I have spend my time sending messages, card, notes.... I kept in sending hoping that one day that I'll get a reply, I Kept on waiting, kept calling but nothing went through.
Would it make a difference that the only reason your dad took you away from me after years of abandoning you in my care was because Tara wasn't able to give birth to a child.
Would it make a difference that I was the one that cared and raised you up for good six years, with my sweat and that father of yours never supported or even give a damn!
And then in a blink of an eye, you didn't care about the woman who had done all this for you, you didn't want to listen to her own side of the story before judging her with the people that had made her suffer a lot.
Do you want to know my only wish when I was away from you...do you want to hear it.... I'm afraid your answer would be the same, you don't want to know, you don't care because all your head had been filled with lies and what did you say??
Tell me.... You said you hate me right? Rebecca turned to the place she hung her necklace on the jewelry stand.
"If you hate me so much like you sat why then are you still holding onto this? Why then did you still have it in your possession!
Sunny felt goose bump as she stood and watched her not knowing what exactly to feel, anger or more hatred. "Liar, it came as a whisper, she wasn't going to believe anything that she said.
None of them is true, she won't believe it, she would never believe this woman or allow her to mess up her mind.
Sunny walked toward her to get jewelry stand. "If this going go prove it to you how much I hate you, so be it! She grab the necklace and made her way straight to the balcony without giving it a second thought she drew the necklace as far as she could on the rocky field.
When she finally turned to her, she found her eyes fixed outside the balcony.
"Now, I think you've overstayed your welcome, I don't want to listen to any of your lies against my parents, I had enough already".
Rebecca nodded and felt as if her heart has been torn open watching her daughter.
"You know, I came back here for you but since it turns out that the one person that I have come back from doesn't even want to see me or have me stay by her side then it time for me to leave for good Sunny.....
Sunny stood motionlessly as she watched her turn toward the door and just when her hand was on the door handle she turned back again.
"And when you realize the truth I hope you enjoy your stay with your new parents then" Sunny watched her as she finally left, she just stood there without moving and tried you control her rage.
She stood there and tried her best not to breath too hard, not to remember any of Rebecca words.
She should be happy, she should be happy that she was finally leaving, she was going to live her life now without any worries. She doesn't have to bother about someone stalking her.
She should be happy then why then was she feeling this inner pain, she felt guilty, like the worst human being on earth.
Slowly she covered her face with her palm and tried to take a deep breath "It okay Sunny, it fine, you should be happy". But she wasn't happy, she felt terrible, why would she allow this woman to make her feel this way.
She walked to the door and locked it before sliding her back to it. "Take a deep breath" she continue whispering to herself as she kept forcing herself to breath, slowly tears slide from her eyes and she hated herself for that.
Rebecca made her way down the stairs as she saw Tara pacing angrily at the foot of the stairs. Immediately she saw her she stopped and frowned in anger.
"What did you tell her, what lies have you filled her head with, you terrible person" Tara tried her best to lower her voice to avoid Sunny from hearing her.
"You know I gave no reason for lying to my daughter, the only person who does is you, you filled her mind and heart with so much lies and hatred....
"It wasn't a lie, all I did was to make her realize you'll never make a good mum, I will and always would".
"It good to hear that Tara, it so good to hear that from a barren woman who had used lies to woo another person child..... "How dare you! Tara fumed in rage but Rebecca wasn't at least bother.
"You left Sunny and I did what another reasonable and kind would do and that's your train up your daughter". "You've done well, I can see that".
Tara glared at her wanting nothing but for her to leave her home "I want to know what you told my daughter? Rebecca smiled and tried to ignore the pain she would feel voicing out this words.
"Sunny is obsessed with you and I hate to say this, you have finally succeed, her mind and heart has craved a lot of hatred towards me and I can't change that or force her to love me against her will"
Tara couldn't hide her smile, she had succeeded and couldn't believe that Rebecca was finally giving up.
"So you admit your failure? I told you that she's my daughter no matter what you do and I'm doing glade you have seen theirs nothing you could do about it"
"Think whatever you want think all I know that this your happiness won't last long". "Oh dear Rebecca, you don't have to say any more, you have failed" Tara smiled victoriously as she walked closer to her.
"If you had taken my advice then, if you had done what I had asked you then, this wouldn't have happened you would have an opportunity to be with your daughter but instead you decided to cause a whole lot of drama..... Sunny would never recognize you as her mother Rebecca, she's mine now"
Rebecca smiled and without a second thought wrap her arms around her then whispered in her eyes. "I might not have been able to convince her now, Tara but trust me, soon she'll be asking questions you won't be able to answer......
She pulled away with a wild grin "Then, she'll know the rightful thing to do". With this, Rebecca turned and left the mansion without even a second glance.
Tara stood there and watched the exit with a clenched fist, she shouldn't bother about this. She was sure that Sunny have already made it very clear to her, she should be happy.
A big smile played on her lips as she hurriedly made her way upstairs. "Sunny, she called pulling the door open but it was locked from the inside.
Tara tapped in the door waiting for her to open the door, she was proud of her knowing that she had kept her word.
Sunny scrambled up from the ground, she didn't know what was wrong with her but it felt as if her heart has been ripped open.
Sunny pulled opened the door and instantly Tara scooped her into her arm, she tried to bury herself in her warmth.
She tried to feel okay by her presence but stay I n get arms didn't stop the emptiness inside of her.
"I hope she did not hurt you, tell me Sunny what did she say to you? Tara asked with a fake teary eyes.
"Do you know that I have been super worried about you, I didn't know what she would say to you, the type of lies she would try to fill your head with.
"Mum, I didn't listen to anything she tried to convince in, I made it clear to her that you were my mum so whatever she was saying wasn't any of my business"
Tara faked her tears as she made her way into Sunny's room. "I'm do happy that you didn't let me down".
"Oh, mum, Of course you know that I would never let you down or leave you for anything, you're the one I recognized as my real mum not anyone else.
Tara smiled widely. "I can't be more proud of you". She walked toward her and wrapped her arms around her. "I love you Sunny and I don't know how I'll feel if I ever lose you"
"Mum, you won't lose me I promise, I always be here whenever you need me, I'm not going anywhere without you". She kissed her hair and turned to look around her, checking if anything is amiss.
She shouldn't ask, she should just forget whatever Rebecca have said, she's a liar but still she felt uneasy as she tried to withheld the question.
She smooth her palm on her dress and took a few calming breath. "Don't ask it useless, whatever she had said was all a lie" she thought but still she felt that small tuck to ask.
"Okay baby girl, Goodnight and remember that mum love you" Tara kissed her cheek and made her way to the door.
"Mum" Sunny called making her to turned back to her. "Is anything wrong sweetie? "Nothing is wrong, just that.... Rebecca mentioned about sending letters to me all those years she been away, I don't know.....
Sunny stopped nervously to stare at her but Tara face was blank for a while before she found her voice.
"You know that's a lie right? She never sent you anything..... She's a big fat liar Sunny and don't tell me you believed her!
"No, mum, is not like that, I was just thinking.....before she could finish her statement, Tara was already standing in front of her. "Don't allow that woman to mess up your head, she's just saying all this to get to you"
Sunny nodded, what was she even thinking, of course she knows that she's a liar why would she even ask "I'm so sorry to ask mum, I don't know what I was thinking".
"You know if she had sent you anything, you would had gotten it but.....nothing do don't ever allow her to play with your mind you're a smart girl"
Sunny nodded again and watched her finally leave this time before throwing herself hard on her bed. "What was I even thinking..... Rebecca is nothing but a lie" she scoffed and to calm her raging heart what was she even expecting before.
