"That isn't an excuse" that was the final word her father told her, she had wanted to hear something comforting just the way he would had done.
Tell her that he'll speak to her mother and everything would be alright but he said non of that instead he focus back on the road leaving her worried and hurt.
Sunny shut her eyes, hoping that when she opened them that everything would b just a dream and she won't have nothing to worry about but it didn't work that way. It wasn't a dream and she was left with her guilty conscience.
She tried to hummed a song throughout the drive to the airport but she found herself distracted, she couldn't focus.
But kept asking herself the same question she had asked herself over a thousand times last night.
Why would Josh do that, she had started getting used to her little walk by the garden, it was peaceful and calming and she thought that their was nothing to worry about but she was wrong, their was much to worry.
They finally arrived at the airport but her father still didn't talk to her, she later shut her eyes and drift away after her head started to pound badly.
Rebecca found herself going through the document that was given to her by John, she tried to study a bit of it before she heard the door bell.
She sighed and made her way to the door, she didn't fail to notice the almost empty house. She had taken a lot of things away, she shouldn't be worried about those things, this was her last week here and she should have that in mind.
She pulled opened the door and found Emily standing with a pizza box on get hand. "Surprised! Emily laughed seeing her cousin's shocked face.
"I didn't expect you" she said making room for her sister to come in. "I thought we should spend sometime like we used to, just to get together, no outing tonight, nothing.....just us before you leave.
"And what about your kids? "Their being taken care of by their father you don't have anything to worry about". "I don't know because I have......" Emily waited for her to complete her words but instead she smiled.
"Fine then, let's have a girls night, I really miss it" Emily trued to recreate one of their best night, they spent the night drinking and chatting.
It feels really good to be here with someone she cares about when she leaves she knows that she'll missed her so well but their was nothing she could do, she couldn't bear to stay here where the pain hurt the most.
And after her sister slept off, she watched her for a while before preparing for the conference here, She have to take care of the meeting for a day here while John was away with international conference.
That was the only thing she could do for him now, she knows that he didn't also want her to go that's why she wanted to make things up for disappointing them.
When Sunny opened her eyes, they had already arrived at their destination and have to be driven to the hotel they'll be staying for the night.
Of course, it was luxurious as age expected. "Everyone you see here owns one of the largest company in the city, you have to be very nice to them and I hope you can communicate well also"
That's was the first word her father have spoken to her after hours of travelling together, she only nodded and watched her father greet and spoke to a lot of people at the lobby.
Finally, she was lead to her room while her father attend little business but didn't fail to tell her that a dinner party was 8,0clock and she was expected to be there early.
She would have been excited to go but after the incident that happened last night, she felt angry, betrayed and frustrated, after laying on the hotel bed for some minutes.
She decided to take a little tour in the hotel before it was time fir the dinner party, it was still 5pm. She still have enough time to walk around as much as she can.
Sunny took the elevator downstairs and wished that her mother hadn't taken away her cellphone, she would have spoken to her friends more.
The hotel was more luxurious than she expected, when she had covered enough ground. She decided to grab a snack before going up to get dressed.
Sunny watched a couple of men that was seated at the across her, she had thought her dad was among them but after looking at each of their faces.
She was half relief that he wasn't there, she doesn't really know why but she wasn't ready to see his judging face.
Among the men only one man caught her attention, it looks much familiar than other men. But can't point out where exactly he had met him, he can't staring at him from time to time until he finally looks up and found her staring at her.
She wanted to look a ay from his stare but she found herself staring outside even more finally the man looked away and resume his discussion.
She had seen him somewhere, maybe in his dad company but .....if it was there, she would have been properly introduce, it was probably in the paper.
She finally decided she had stared enough and made her way out of the eatery and took the elevator back to her room.
The last thing she wants was to be late to the dinner party, she had spent two hours touring the hotel and now she got dress with the rest of the time she have and finally sat by the window waiting for her dad to arrived.
It was really boring in this big place without her friends or her cellphone, her parents was angry at her while her friend have betrayed her.
She pressed her head to the window while watching the weather as it turn crowdy, she shut her eyes and waited for all the pain she was feeling to go away.
The guilt, anger, hatred and tried to forget the nightmare that kept coming each night now she caught herself thinking about Rebecca.
Immediately she heard the doorbell and looked up at the wall clock to see that it was already 8,0 clock on the dot, she had been sitting here for a while now.
She run her hand down her pink Ivory dress that covered her white heels, her mum had choose it for her before the incident.
It was beautiful, the back of the gown was cut low, revealing her back. Her mum believe that she was of age abd dressing well would attract a wealthy and rich suitors.
She had to dress well and fashionable and that's exactly how she was dressing tonight.
She walked up to the door and found that it was a servant actually, her father have personal sent him to pick her up for dinner that he was there already.
She had to smile at him and allowed him to lead her down the hotel where the dinner was being held, it felt like a whole different place.
And their was a large table that could accommodate up to fifty people on a row, she swallowed as she walked inside and tried to calm herself.
A lot of daughter's and son's of the weathy men were also presence and she have to walk in while keeping her face straight.
Tara had told her it was cowardice to feel inferior in the present of those she's more greater than. She was beautiful, rich and her dress cost more than an ordinary person could imagine, so their was no need to feel inferior or shy away from such a social gathering.
She was rich like them, more beautiful so..... with this thought Sunny kept a cute smile on her face as she sighted her father and made her way straight to where he was seated.
She felt all eyes on her but she ignored and only focused on her father, the steward came over to draw her chair out.
"Perfect" Sam smiled as she watched her, she was early like he instructed her to and also walked digently like every other rich daughter.
A daughter that would fetch him millions of money, he patted her hand and turned away from her to continue chatting with his friend beside him.
Sunny tried to keep her smile fixed on her face and finally when everyone arrived at the table, the dinner began.
She listen while the men and women influential status discuss business and other non interesting things that bores her but she tried to keep her face neural.
Unexpectedly, his father turned to ask her opinion of the subject discuss, knowing that he expected everything that's comes out from her mouth to be perfect and she wouldn't want to disappoint her father and as expected.
She told them what they all wanted to hear, the best answer they all expected and after much appreciation their usual business discussion resume.
Each minutes felt like hour, she half listen to what was said while picking on the food and urging herself to listen more.
Finally, Sunny got the attention of the man she had seen that afternoon, she don't know why she was so focus on staring at him.
This time, she didn't allow her eyes to linger, she looked away and tried to focus on other things.
John felt her presence like a magnet, just the way he would have felt her mother's presence. He was aware that she had been watching him quite sometimes now but he ignored and kept on a low key.
He had Instantly recognized her the moment at the eatery and had Instantly wished that Rebecca was here with her but that would actually create a scene since the daughter wouldn't have allowed her.
Maybe, he could get an opportunity to speak with her, just to know Rebecca precious daughter.
Just like her mum, she was so beautiful and he watched amused as young men drooled over her at the table but she felt bored instead and kept her eyes on her food and dad.
Only on occasionally times did stare at him, he wished that this child would know how much her mother had sacrifice for her but instead she was clouded by her father's lie, he wished that she would do more instead of cowardly obeying and listening to her father.
He wish that she would fight to know the real truth instead of allowing people to lie and tell her what to believe. She was the only that would stop her mother's pain, she was the only one that can heal Rebecca's grieving and broken heart.
Finally, the dinner ended and Sunny followed her dad to greet and speaks a lot of his friends, she found out that her dad didn't bother with half of the guest including the man.
This means, he wasn't working in his company but he's face was kinda familiar and for some reason age really wanted to talk to him.
Sunny looked over to her father who was so engrossed in a discussion. "I think I'll head off to bed" age looked at the time and found out it was almost 11:30 and immediately felt exhausted.
Sam looked over to her then his wrist watch. "Fine, then you can ask one of the steward to lead you to your room".
"It fine, dad, I think I can find my way" Sam nodded and finally return to his discussion, Sunny hasten up in time to find him walking into an elevator.
As if he knows, he held the elevator door open for gert to get in. She was Silent till the elevator door closed, she didn't want to delay, she was already feeling really exhausted.
"You don"t work with my dad's company" she finally asked a bit nervous speaking to such elderly man even though he had greeted a lot at the dinning room but around this person feels different.
"That's why, you had you eyes on me since evening? John asked staring at the closed door. "I think so, I just thought you might be working there because you're face seems familiar"
"No, I don't work with your father, Young girl, the reason my face might be familiar to you, is that I'm always on the paper and television and I also owed my own company and just for to know I'm your dad's rival and your mum's friend"
"How's that possible....if you're my dad's rival then how can you be my mum's friend.....it seems impossible?
John chuckled and turned to look at her innocent face. "when I mean your mum, I meant your real mother, Rebecca" He saw the shock on her face and chuckled even more.
"How? She didn't know why she asked but she was wanted to know....." She works with me" John finally said and just then the elevator door open, he only have to pat her shoulder gently before stepping out.
One look at her face shows that theirs a lot of thought going through her mind, she wanted to ask more but couldn't.
Sunny watched the elevator door close without saying any word, now she understood the reason her father didn't think it was neccasry to introduce her to him.
The elevator finally opened to the hallway leading to her room but that didn't stop her from exploding with lot of questions.
She made it to her bedroom and slipped out of her pink gown, she felt a little free afterward. She took the next few minutes to bath and change into her nightwear.
Immediately her body dropped on the bed, she felt relaxed and realized how tired she was from the dinner but wait if the elderly man was Rebecca"s friends and also she was working with him.
Why didn't he talked to her about her mother like everyone had done, theirs was no way he couldn't know about her but why was he so unconcerned and he didn't even bother to side with Rebecca or tell what she wasn't doing right.
If it was other people they would haven't tried their best to lecture her with the few minutes they have and this actually means that Rebecca really deserved everything that was done to her and this man doesn't want to be part of her fraudster lifestyle.
But if that's so, why did he called himself her friend, it was so confusing or was the man just unconcerned about anything.
He was old and that was probably it, she doesn't know why she's even bother but the more she tries to wrap her head on it the more confuse she gets. She shouldn't be concerned about this but the sad truth was that she was...
