He slept in his car, he couldn't feel more disappointed in his life. Josh growled and raised his head, the first thing he need was to check his phone for any messages.
Maybe Sunny was back and had texted him or maybe her friends or anyone had called or texted him that she was back.
But he only saw his mother missed calls and text messages, groaning hard, he tossed the phone aside and run his arm through his head.
Last night, he had driven around the city searching for her, he had come across a lot of girls that looked like her but it turns out it wasn't his Sunny when he come close and had finally parked by the side of the road to watch the passerby.
He had failed to keep an eye on him, Rebecca had made him promise to always protect Sunny whenever he was with her but he failed! He failed to protect someone he claim to love.
He wanted to reach out to anyone, just to ask if she was finally back, Maybe they were waiting for him to come back before sharing the news with him.
He finally checked the time on his phone and it turns out to be 6:15 am, he needs to go home and check.
Rubbing his finger in his eyes to clear his vision, he finally started the car and reverse the car back home.
"We're here to meet Sam, he had been hospitalized since yesterday night". "Sure, follow me" the nurse gave them a slight nod and lead them up the elevator.
"Is he awake now? Rebecca asked not because he cared about him, she just needed some answer on where her daughter was. "I'm afraid he's still unconscious but he had been put out of danger" she turned toward her and Andrew who had been listening patiently.
The elevator finally opened and she lead them down the hallway finally, she stopped at the fourth door. "His wife arrived this morning and she's inside with him"
Rebecca felt overwhelming disgust in learning that she was going to meet two people in the world she hated with great passion. "Thanks" she muttered to the nurse and did her best to smile politely at her before walking inside with Andrew behind her.
Tara looked up immediately after they walked inside, her face has redden like she had been crying since she arrive.
She was sitting beside his bed wearing a thick brown sweater and black jeans with a head tie covering her hair. Her whole body was covered thoroughly despite the weather being warm.
Rebecca ignored her teary face and turned to look at Sam who was laying unconsciously on the bed, the only way you can know he was alive was the beep on the machine.
"What are you doing here? Tara asked sniffing back her tears and wiping her eyes with a napkin. "If I'm to recall..." Rebecca turns to her and listens as she continues.
"You hate my husband so much that you'll give anything to see him in his grave, so I don't understand why you're here.
Rebecca turned back and watched Sam for some time before turning back to Tara as she made her way slowly toward her until she was feet away from where she was sitting.
"You're right Tara, I'll give anything to see him in his grave and I'm not here to sympathize with you... I'm here to find out the truth".
"The truth about what! "About my missing daughter Tara, I guess you had heard". Rebecca watched her stand and moved a step closer to her.
"I know what you're doing, I know all of your plan Rebecca, you hide your daughter and now want to blame and accuse my innocent husband just so you can watch him suffer!
Rebecca watched her without saying a word likewise Andrew who had been such her. Tara turned back and touch Sam gently on the shoulder "Whoever is behind this would be caught" she turned back to her with an angry expression.
"If I'm behind this Tara, I would make sure theirs no life in him before I leave him, you know that right?
" Where were you for a month now Tara? That was the first time Andrew spoke up "I don't owe you anything Andrew, the only people I'm willing to talk to are the police and not you both!
"At least fo us a favor by telling us, it won't kill you" Andrew persisted "As I said, I don't owe you both anything". "This both incidents can't be coincident Tara, you know that".
"You fake all of this Rebecca, you wanted this from the start, and God knows that you don't care about Sunny, it's just all fake" Rebecca grabbed her wrist tightly, ignoring the pain in her eyes.
"Just know this Tara, I would never think of harming even a hair from my daughter but if it's you Tara, or your husband..." She just stared at her, leaving the word unsaid.
"I don't believe anything you say, Rebecca, this is all your doing right? To get your revenge on me and my husband while pretending that your daughter is missing?
" I don't care if you believe it or not but just know this, I'll get to the bottom of this Tara" just as she made to turn to the door, she stopped and turn back to her. "I don't only hate your husband Tara, I also despise you"
Tara watched them leave before she slowly reached out for her wrist and rubbed it gently. She had felt like shouting her lungs out when she had held her tightly to her wrists but that would make her more curious.
"Did you think she knows something? Andrew asked when they took the elevator down. " I just know there is something off somewhere, I just can't figure out what is or put my hand to it"
"She looks sick" Andrew finally said as they made their way out of the hospital. "How did you know that". "Because I'm a doctor and just looking at her you'll know that at least".
Rebecca stopped to look at him, that explain the reason she had her whole body covered but the question now is if she was truly sick, what was wrong with her?
"Did you think that's the reason she faked her travel? " Did you think she faked it? Rebecca just shrugged
"If she's sick maybe she traveled to cover it up or avoid the question but if she didn't...travel, then why did she fake it and made everyone believe she was out of the state?
"We need to do more investigation here but quietly Rebecca, the police won't be happy to find that we're being nosy in their affairs".
"I don't care, Andrew, I don't give a damn about then if they can't find me, my daughter, I'll go miles and do what they couldn't do just to bring my daughter back to me"
"It would hinder you if you get in their way, Rebecca". "My money, Andrew isn't for waste, I have made the money and nothing is impossible now Andrew". She left him standing there as she made her way to the car, she need to find her daughter and learn the truth.
Josh lay on his bed after getting home, the whole time has been talking about last night, " The young billionaire daughter that got missing, what did her kidnapper what, money?
It tore him apart as he listen to the news and also heard that Sunny's father had been stabbed the same night her daughter got missing and his maid was also shot to death.
It was strange and the latest news in town, he hates seeing Sunny picture pop out each minute, the police announcing or rather informing the people on their latest search and observations about the kidnap case or murder case.
He felt unshed tears in his eyes as he just sat in the middle of the bed and watch the whole scene, the police had dropped by this morning to ask him some questions.
He felt like a failure, just sitting there and answering some dumb question that won't be much of a help to them. He wants them out there, searching for Sunny not sitting with him and questioning him.
He watched her picture as it pops up again on the television "Please Sunny, Come home, a lot of people are waiting for you, and I have a lot to tell you". He was on the verge of tearing up when he heard someone at the door.
" Josh" he held his mother's voice but still, he didn't move from his spot. "I feel like a failure, like the worst failure on earth". "No, you're not Josh". " I couldn't even protect it be there when she needed me"
"You don't have to blame yourself on any in any of this, Sunny would be found, I'm sure of this"
