Chapter 45: Be ambiguous

I sighed secretly.

She wiped away her tears and asked, "Didn’t you really like me at all?"

After Li Wanxue conveyed my words, the chief frowned. After pondering for a moment, he said," Are you going to cheat away our domestic animals and take them back and eat them yourself?"

The chief nodded: "I can give you livestock. If you take the livestock away and you can't kill the human face monkey, then don't blame me for being rude. I'm not someone who can deceive."

I thanked him and asked him to allow me and Li Wanxue to say a few words separately. The result was rejected. Li Wanxue was taken away directly by two women. The chief asked several other people to watch me and Zhang Yutong, and sent someone to bring us the livestock.

Zhang Yutong showed some triumphant eyes. I asked unhappily: "What are you happy about?"

"No." She became serious.

The chief sent us two goats and a rabbit. He said that the rabbit was given to us to eat, and as last time, he also gave us a bag of cornmeal.

I handed the cornmeal and rabbit to Zhang Yutong, and took the two goats by myself. As usual, two aborigines sent us to the cliff. The goats were tied up with ropes and then dropped from the cliff.

On the way back, Zhang Yutong played with the rabbit very happily. The two goats in my hand were not so well-behaved. When they saw the green grass, they would chew them. I pulled the rope hard and they were forced to walk forward together.

I still worried that the aborigines will follow us, so we hided for a while after reaching the river channel before returning.
