Chapter 289 Fire Attack

"Good brother, it's time to come back." I really appreciate it. If Li Ding doesn't come back, all our work will really go down the drain.

Li Ding patted his chest: "Fly brother, I will not do things wrong absolutely. I saw you were packing up just now. You were going home."

I pointed to the bare island. "Look."

"Then don't worry about it now. The rain also stopped. Let's give them a good fight."

I nodded and told him to take the men he had brought back to rest. He returned to the camp, and let Zombo and John take men to unload the load.

Busy till half the night, we finally restored everything and had a full meal.

As the rain had just stopped, I did not deploy for the time being. Let's get everybody back to where they were before, rest where they should rest, guard where they should stand.

The next day the clouds cleared and the sun shone high. Fog rose over the islands of the Allied forces. In the afternoon, things start to dry out. That's the way it is in the tropics. As soon as it clears up, the rain evaporates very quickly.

When I saw that the time had come, I called the three of them together, and resolved to return to the Island and rebuild the defences. After the meeting, we walked out to find that the Allied forces had taken over the defensive camp we had built.

I looked at both John and Zomb and said, "Do you know how to kill them?"

"You watch, chief." "Said Zombo with a smile.

He and John assembled ten small boats, each with a small catapult on the forward deck. Ten ships entered at once, and began to drop grenades as they neared the island. The other side also shot arrows at the ships. But all fell into the sea.

They were soon discomfited by grenade blasts and thick smoke, and the counterattacks stopped. When the smoke cleared, the flotilla headed straight for the past. When they were on shore, I quickly followed them with the rest of my ships and army.

After retaking the fortified camp, we cleaned up the bodies left by the Allies and repaired the fortifications.

After the three generals gathered in the tent, I said: "the weather has cleared up, our supplies are limited, we do not know when it will rain again, we must seize the time to attack."

"Then don't delay, chief," zombo shouted. Tomorrow we'll fight straight to the top of the mountain and take the three Kings alive."

I nodded. "I think so too. Tomorrow we will divide the army into four groups, and Li Ding will lead one group to hold the camp. The three of us will attack from different directions in teams. We have enough grenades, give me a hard hit."

"Chief, what if they surrender halfway there?" John asked.

"Surrender. Let them capture the three Kings and bring them to us. If you can't, just call me whatever they say." Repeated betrayals by the new king of the Spice Kingdom have left me unable to trust them. Just to get rid of all three kingdoms once and for all.

"Be." The two men spoke at the same time.

"Fly brother." Li Ding shouted: "You are the leader, or you stay in the camp, I take a group of people to fight. You trust me."

"You'd better stay in camp. You're good at it." I dissuaded him, saying, "This time I will arrest the three Kings myself."

"All right, then." Li Ding was a little depressed.

I know he craves everyone's approval for something he's already scared of. So now the motivation is getting stronger. But I still have to place people on their merits.

After the meeting, we gathered the troops together and arranged the distribution. Different groups of people take different boats, so the combination of structures can improve the efficiency of our operations.

When the arrangement was finished, li Ding took charge of all night sentry patrols. The three of us slept peacefully, waiting only for dawn to take the allied camp.

When I was sleeping soundly, I heard Shouting outside, and I didn't care. I'm sure Li Ding can withstand the attack.

"Chief, move." A voice called from the boathouse door, "They set fire to it."

"What?"

"The Allies have started a fire and it's burning everywhere. It's going to be enough. We must get out of here or the ship will be burned." "He cried eagerly.

I quickly got up and went to the deck to see that the island was full of flames, even the trees were burning up, and streams of gray black smoke rushed into the sky.

Li Ding is carrying things with people on the shore.

I quickly let people sounded the drum and blow bright horns. Gather all hands together and go to land to move things. There were too many of us, but we couldn't stop the fire coming fast. Can only abandon part of the food and cooking tools, hurriedly ship escape.

By the time we left, there was only a small area of the camp that wasn't burning. When the trees are burned, the burning branches fall down and stick to combustible material, setting fire near the ground.

When I was two hundred meters above sea level, I had a drum beat and all the boats stopped. One corner of the island had become a sea of fire. The fire grew smaller as the tall trees burned clean. But above ground, the fire was getting worse. Weeds and low-growing plants, as well as fallen trees, provided plenty of fuel for the fire.

"Fly brother."

I looked back and saw Li Ding coming from the other boat. A dirty.

I busy to meet up: "brother, you all right?"

Li Ding shook her head. "Nothing. None of us died. Not much damage. I never thought these guys would pull such a stunt."

"They were underdogs and didn't have a trick to play. They didn't stand a chance." I sighed, "It will be more difficult to attack the city after it has been burned down."

"Why?" Li Ding asked blankly.

"You don't know that." I explained, "They don't just use one fire attack. When we storm the city, they'll fire again. It's all burnt down there, and they're sending fireballs and stuff, and we're not going to be able to attack."

"That's true." Li Ding nodded and said in a tone of disgust: "But I think they are too stupid. Why not wait until we attack the city and use the advantage of dropping fireballs to ignite the forest to attack us? We would have lost a great deal."

I laughed. "Because they're not as smart as you."

If the allied forces had done what Li Ding said, more than half of the grenades we brought would have been used to kill our own people.

"Fly elder brother, that you see next exactly how should do?"

"Go to the island first. We'll see tomorrow."

After Li Ding left, I asked someone to relay the order again.

When the fleet returned to the island, Zombo and John came to talk to me. They also realized that the allied forces might use fire later. We must find a way out of this difficult problem.

I yawned and told them to go back to sleep and discuss it tomorrow.

To our surprise, in the late night, the Coalition forces, excluding the boats and the convoys of tandem canoes, came upon us again.

By the time I got on deck, they were only four or five hundred metres from us. Moonlight, see crystal clear.

It made me furious that we were being played like monkeys by the coalition when we had a clear advantage. There was no time to gather them together to discuss a strategy. I'll just send a messenger. Scatter our ships, surround them, drop grenades directly.

The other side fired their arrows too, but it was always us who had the advantage. As soon as the smoke from the grenades reaches our ships, we retreat, and as soon as the coalition ships emerge from the smoke, the grenades will serve them.

"Help..."

"Our ship is on fire."

When I looked, I saw a small wooden boat on fire, and many people had jumped into the sea and were trying to swim towards the island.

I couldn't make any rescue arrangements, so I had to turn back my big boat and send someone to rescue those who fell into the water with the raft Li Ding had brought.

By the time I returned to the battlefield, the battle was over.

So I got out of the boat and put all my men on the raft and went out to the water to get men, dead and alive as well as the Confederates.

As the smoke cleared, others began to return. When we collected the bodies, we found that more than a hundred of us had died. One of the small boats had caught fire and sunk into the sea, and the other one, the big one and the small one, had suffered varying degrees of damage.
