We got to the dining table and mom prepared breakfast for so many. I was surprised that she prepared a lot and I had to ask her if she is inviting someone for breakfast.
"All these for three or more coming?"
I asked.
"Yes, I invited Rosie for breakfast, she has been behaving weird since and I have been keeping an eye on her, it's my way of being closer to her. I don't want her doing something stupid"
She replied and I nodded, pulled a chair for Rory and I sat down after she had seated.
"Who is Rosie?"
Rory asked me, whispering?
"A neighbor and a friend, more like mom's daughter"
I replied and I think what I said did not sit well with her. She frowned when I said a friend. Is she getting jealous?, no way. That's an obscured thing to do.
"No need to get jealous, bae?"
She huffed and puffed her cheeks and I had to chuckled to that.
Mom looked at Rory and smiled."
"You seem to like Xylie a lot?"
Mom asked Rory and she became shy instantly.
"I like him but I don't know if he likes me too"
Mom smiled at her and winked at me. I swear mom is a cruise master.
"I am sure he likes you too"
And with that, came a knock at the door and mom left to get the door.
I scanned the dishes and smiled, mom really knows how to make one feel welcomed. The day I returned with her she cooked a lot of dishes and made me to taste all of them. She prepared all these because of Rory coupled with the fact that Rosie is coming. I wondered what Rosie will think of Rory if she comes, knowing full well that she has made passes at me at one point in time. I was really into her when I came here but after she came here with Ben,I backed off only to meet a surprise of my life,Ben was Nora's mate after all, her long searched mate. Our lives is indeed rollercoaster of scripts, you keep playing a life script.
I guess we where waiting for our dear guest that's why we have not started eating breakfast.
Mom returned with Rosie who was all smiles but immediately she sighted Rory, her countenance became sour. I thought as much, she has not get to know Rory and she is frowning already. What if Rory is my sister, she might have been angry for no reason only that Rory is not my Sister but a friend who might later become more than that. Rosie has to find away to deal with it.
"Hi Rosie, good to see you"
She managed a smile, mom asked her to sit down and she did, sitting opposite Rory. She was scanning Rory with a scornful look, Rory who noticed her stares raised her eyebrows at her.
"Okay, ladies, Rory this is Rosie, Rosie this Rory, my friend"
I introduced both of them and Rory waved at her but Rosie did not return the welcome. Rosie could not hide the fact she hates Rosie, I have known her for a while and all this while, Rosie can never hide her feelings.
"Rory dear, Rosie here is not really in good mood, don't be offended by her actions okay,"
Mom explained reason behind Rosie cold attitude. Rory said okay shrugged her shoulders. I squeezed her hand under the table and she smiled which Rosie did not fail to notice. She scoffed and threw her face away.
"I think I am starving so let's have breakfast. Serve yourself and eat to your full and don't hesitate to eat extra if you have to"
Mom said and dished out her own meal of rice and meat sauce.
Breakfast was consist of porridge yam, spag and white sauce, Nora's favourite, rice and meat sauce, toast bread, fried egg and kettle full off Lipton tea, that's the main meal. Then dessert consist of chocolate cake grapes and strawberries with a jug full of orange juice with red wine by the side.
I asked Rory what she would have and she said, porridge yam and I helped her dish it. I dished spagh and white sauce for myself while Rosie dished rice and meat sauce for herself. No one went for tea and hoped it will not be a waste because Rory and mom put much effort to make breakfast a reality.
Everyone having dished what he or she wants, we started eating.
Rory was obviously enjoying the meal because once in a while she nodded her head and Rosie was just there monitoring Rory every move and did not fail to show her dissatisfaction over what Rory was doing.
I ignored her and focus on my meal, Rosie is trouble and I am so happy that I was off her hook before it was too late. Come to think of it, I don't feel pity for her for not ending up with Ben, while she dates him, she was looking for flings which obviously did not show she loves him.
This is what one get when you eat your cake and still want to have it.
