Chapter 55: The Hunt!

The Hunt!

Weeks away,

Ada moved out from the mansion alleging to be a better mother to Kayla. She wanted more privacy since she now had a new boyfriend, Dylan Mark.

On a summer afternoon, Dylan and Kayla played some videos games and built bricks on a play house. The door bell rang while Ada was In the kitchen backing chocolate cakes.

"Baby, could you get the door please? I got splattered flour on me! Thank you!" Ada said screaming moderately from the kitchen

"Yeah sure!" Dylan answered. He kissed Kayla on the forehead and said "I'll be back"

She chuckled cutely. He went to the door and opened. He saw someone be recognized on TV surrounded by a group of security men.

"Good day!" Dylan said simply as he moved away from the door way he obstructed

Kayla's raised her head to see who it was

"Daddy!" She exclaimed running to Eric as he carried her up and embraced her as they sat on the couch. Dylan went away because he was disappointed and dismayed. Ada noticed the undying uproar of excitement and distant chattering then she wiped off the flour off her hands and wash herself. She entered the living room only to find the man she despised not after she had found a new promising lover.

"Why are you here, Eric?" She frowned folding her arms

"Mom, are you not happy?" Kayla interrupted with a smile on her face

"Kayla, to your room. Go upstairs!" Ada instructed. Eric was speechless, he didn't know how to stop Ada from sending his daughter away.

"Ada! Can we talk?" Eric said calmly walking towards her as he motioned his men to step outside for a moment.

"We got nothing to talk to about so please don't start with the rubbish just yet." She shrugged turning away

"Let's have a reasonable discussion, I'd really want us to be a family again. Look honey, I've been stupid and unthoughtful but I don't want us to end up like this." Eric began

"Eric! What we had was in the past and now Is the present. I want to be left alone. Can you take all the rickety ass men out of my domain?" She demanded

"Ada....Ada...." Eric held her arms gently "I've always apologized for my past mistakes and I always will."

They both sat down gently, Ada continued

"Why would I want to get back with you? Give me reasons, Eric!" She inquired

"...We love each other and..." Eric blurted out outrightly

"Just shut it. After everything we've been with my family, with you... When you returned from prison, what else did you think about besides from vengeance." She asked him calmly

"Ada, why are you doing this?" He didn't know what to say

"You Came home to take our daughter away from me, Eric was that  fair?" She almost scolded

"Your mother took me out...." He said defensively

"...Eric, I apologized to you severally but you threw me out like trash. Remember, I did not cheat on you, you did!" She reminded him duly

  "Ada..." He called pathetically

"You want nothing to do with the McClure's, also forgotten?" She stood up "I don't need you around, you know that. One more thing, don't think that because you're some freaking pathetic deputy, i'd fall for it...i won't!" She concluded

He stood there shocked and helpless, he realized that his power and influence was useless. He stood up to leave as well

"Was that your new man?" Eric asked unable to hide his jealousy

"What else do you think?" Ada snapped

Eric nodded his head and walked out depressingly as she locked the door. First, she sighed in relief. She searched around for Dylan but he was no where to be found. Ada groaned in disappointment as she sunk into couch lying on her back.

The three of us were sitting and eating lunch when I decided to tell him about my plans and intentions. I was hesitant somehow but I imagined it to be the best thing that has happened to us then I blurted

"Babe!" I called sweetly and innocently

"Yes baby? What's up?" He said struggling with a chicken grilled thigh

"I've been thinking about what I'm about to tell you for over a long time now, promise me that you won't get mad?" I asked meekly

"Not until I hear about it. All you got to do is say it, I'll listen" he affirmed to hear Me out. I stood still again then revived like I once hibernated

"Ok!" I cleared my throat and swallowed my anxiety then I continued "I really really really want us to leave the city as soon as we can!" Finally I let it out.

He stopped eating like a stopped tower clock. He wiped off his Mouth and hands and looked at me. He seemed surprised and dismayed at the same time.

"Why? Leaving for what?" He asked me with a squeezed face

"Calm down! Breathe! Now, this is why I think we should leave town. We've been through so much over the years and even right now, we've had a series of unfortunate situations so I was also thinking that raising our son in a very conducive environment will be of good influence on me...." I lectured hard trying to convince Jamal then he interrupted my lecture like he was uninterested and unable to articulate.

"Danni! Danni! Look, why are you saying this all of a sudden? Why right now? If its about Jordan, trust me we could move to the outskirts; that's a very conducive and activating area except you got personal reasons to move out desperately." He snapped. I frowned my face more tightly

"You also look pretty when you do that." He complimented trying to finish his unfinished business with his meal

"That's not funny, babe. We are better off somewhere else than waking up to a life you ain't even sure of. Waking up to something disappointing and triggering, that's crazy." I explained again

"This is serious, Danni. Ok, just maybe if I said yes to your fantasy; where are we moving to?" He asked with

  "Miami!" I blurted happily

Jamal stared at me with a hilariously

"Miami? Ahh. You want some vacation right? You should've spill the jelly! I'll get that arranged...." He said then I interrupted with a yell

"Jamal! This...is...not...funny! We need to go ok, just think about it!" I suggested closing up the chapter then concentrating on my meal like he was.

"Are you serious? 'Coz I'd really need to think over it...right now, I can't absorb!" He blurted out seriously.

*sighs* this guy wouldn't understand how badly and terribly I'd love us to change our location. Thoughts flooded and eroded my mind but there was nothing I could do then I wondered why men had so power than that of the woman. Why should a woman be generally submissive to the man, what about situations where the woman tends to be squarely independent and wealthy, is there a need to be overly submissive as well? I wondered and pondered. I rubbed my hair back and forth then I remembered i

had an appointment with the McClure's, I promised a physical visit because phone calls helps to save the day. I wanted us to talk longer.

Thirty minutes later I drove to their mansion, it felt the same and sensational just like the first day I visited, that one time.

I entered as butler ushered me in to their private living room. I turned to him, the the loyal English butler, Beckett. He eventually followed them down here again, how thoughtful.

  "Thanks Beckett!"

"Anytime, Mrs Khaleefa!" Beckett a answered then he turned to the left disappeared out of sight.

I met Carol sitting at the porch reading a book by Tracey, a best book selling author.

"Hello mother!" I greeted with a smile as I walked towards her to give out a warm hug

"My dear!" She stood up to acknowledge the hug. Then we sat down as Beckett offered us some tea.

"So, how are you?" Carol began properly keeping her book. I sighed in relief.

"I should be asking you about that. I am so sorry about the elections, we were so hopeful even if we know it had been rigged. That's how hungry pathetic liars struggle to be the Lion's crown." I blurted sipping my tea. Its smell was so captivating and relaxing. She laughed at what I said

"I agree. Pete and I have worked so hard to make this election too good to be true. We had a good number of votes from from patriotic citizens! Things changed and Jada will always and forever be a part of every detrimental state." She expressed herself bitterly

"I feel your pain, mother. But first, we got to think of the next plan. Do you have a plan B?" I asked raising my brows for her confirmation

"I do but you know at a point I had to deal with some snoopers. Anyway, I've got time to think straight now and I'd like you to be a part of it." She required. My eyes flickered

"How thoughtful! You know I wouldn't be of help anyways. There's nothing that I think I could do..." I tried to decline

"...You think!" She leaned forward "I think you'd be a way to help the McClure's entirely fight for justice and transparency."

"Hmm. I'd think about it as soon as I can. And Ada?" I asked

"Oh her. She recently moved out with Kayla promising to be a good mother."

We laughed to it

"That's sweet! Has Eric considered a..." I asked as Carol interrupted

"...He wouldn't and even if he did i

Wouldn't have that crap work. I think he's finally gotten what we offered for him, we brought him into political existence." She blurted in distaste.

"Argh! I wish we could do something way different and valuable..." I suggested

"Like what exactly?" Carol looked serious and curious

"Sorting this mess out. You should know better than I do that hard work and success comes with consistency. Do you understand that?" I asked

"Smart girl!" Carol complimented with a satisfying smile. "Uh..that reminds me, what are your plans?"

"Plans? Do I have a plan? I don't think so."

"Well I think you've got some upper hand then. My very own hand man has some good news about this one person that has the final say like liberating us from a very dubious and unsatisfied person like Jada." She stopped

  "Like who? I'm curious!"

"Like you, my dear! Give it a thought if you feel otherwise." Carol finalized. I took my tea to gulp then she sipped classically on it

                     *****************

A week later, I had a visitor I always wished to never see, Jada. I wondered why she's been a pest to my life and what exactly she wanted from me after appearing to me and disappearing and the result would be a dirty scandal or a win win somewhere.

"Hello Danielle!" She called with this cunning aura of gets that never seemed to die for a second.

"I really wonder why you've been a huge problem to me." I blurted out

"And I would definitely be your solution in the end." Jada said smiling, it was really hard for anyone to provoke or threaten this woman but once she feels any of it, death would surface.

"So I try as hard as possible to let them be. You're just like a fish bone in my throat, I can't swallow up and still can't throw up; I just have to deal with it. Jada, what is it you want?" I asked finally after making up my proverb that I figured it to be less important

"What I really want? Do you want to know!" She stopped expecting my answer

"Mm-hmm!" I answered simply. She scoffed and continued

"I've warned you numerously about the McClure's but you wouldn't listen. Poor Danni! The mother for all type of lady. Young girls like strife to live life to the fullest while all you do is try to be of help to everyone?" She stopped again to breathe

"Everyday i live, I live to the fullest. I've lived to the fullest right from my younger days right from the moment I made my first million. If you're trying to provoke me about some threats you make up everytime we see coincidentally then your loss. What exactly is your problem, Jada?" I asked her again. She did what I regarded as disregard, that cunning smile that makes you feel like you've done nothing but make sounds in my ears.

"Danielle, my dear! You are hurting yourself. A cling to the McClure's is hell doom effected on you. I-am-not-joking!" She warned, that was the moment I saw her face squeezed in a frown.

"And you think that was scary, it wasn't. Most times you try as hard as possible to ruin everything we've worked then that moment counts your very own hell doom. You chose to be wicked not me, you chose to be unhappy not me, you chose to be the devil not me and you chose to revenge not me, how on earth am I your problem Jada?"

I pointed out to her as she stared at me lost in thoughts. I couldn't tell if she was listening or not but I knew passed a message that she must have understood one or two.

"Did you like the pictures and commotion in your family lately? Did you ask about your loving Brownie? And about Lacy who spilled the real truth?" She stopped then my face changed.

"What do you mean? What happened to them and what business have I got to do with them?" I asked her trying yo understand

"I killed all of them same way Sabrina died, I sent their bodies to their families respectively." She confessed

"Jada?" I called almost yelling "these women only tried to help..."

"Yet they got too nosy and mouthy. A business remains a business, no emotions attached and I paid off their asses." She added

"So are you really the one behind my husband's..." I tried to point out

"Whatever you think, Danni. I warned you already 'coz next time, you'd pay with your dear one!" She left furiously.

I sat back in confusion, why would Jada do such a thing to me and Jamal. i was hurt and I didn't think of Jada being in the picture as well, I capitalized everything against Mrs Brownie then I realized I was wrong and Jada wouldn't be lying about this, she was straight forward and evil at the same time.  I headed home without any idea on what to tell Jamal and to crown it all up i was the center of it all. I concluded every thing to be my fault even though I knew he was very vulnerable at a point. All I had to do was tell him how it all began.
