Chapter 94

She didn't say anything after my reply as she simply turned her back on me, I could sense that she wasn't happy at all and I don't even know what to do about it so I simply tapped her shoulder and gave her a kiss on the forehead while I went to take my bath because my body is filled with different alcohol smell and it doesn't look good at all. I finished up from the bathroom few minutes later and I went to sleep without even checking the time.  

   Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months ever since Andrew migrated to Nigeria, I now feel relaxed every single day because I know that my son won't be at home to disturb my peace, perhaps this is the best decision I have made in my entire life and I hope t make more valuable decisions like this in the future but life is becoming boring for me because all I do is to go to work, come back home and eat. It's getting so boring to the extent that I wonder if I was born to work forever. Thank God Ramsey is coming over for lunch today, at least we can talk a little while my wife is way on her trip to Dubai, she left few days ago and promised to return back tomorrow.

She was initially angry that I refused to follow her to Dubai simply because she wants to shop for herself and update her boutique with the latest designs in clothes and expensive jeweleries, I'm not cut out for that kind of stress at all so it's better to stay behind and simply mind my business. "Good afternoon sir, Mr Ramsey is here to see you", one of the guards said as he walked up to me to inform me that Ramsey was the one who drove into the compound few minutes ago. "Let him in, have you forgotten already, he is my friend and you should let him in whenever you see him or I may free you from your duties", I replied.

   "I'm so sorry sir, it won't happen again", he said and rushed out to open the door for Ramsey. He walked inside looking a bit pissed off by the way my guards treated him, "I think it's high time you talk some sense into these block heads you call your guards. They told me to wait outside while they inquire from you if you actually sent for me, what the fuck is that?", he asked. "Calm down my man, you know that these are my new set of guards, they might have forgotten your face so soon so please forgive them", I replied trying to calm him down

I do change my guards every two months because I don't want them to start predicting all my moves when they stay too long with me and I learnt that habit from one of my rich friends who recently got attacked by some unknown kidnappers, they kidnapped him and told his family to provide the sum of $10 Million dollars or they will end his life. If not for the fact that his wife had access to his bank accounts, he would have been in the past by now. So I don't want to take such chances at all and that's why I do endeavour to change all my security guards and body guards, the workers in the house can stay as long as they don't go against my rules.  "Where is your wife?" Ramsey asked, waking me up from my thoughts, "she traveled to Dubai for her shopping and she may likely come back tomorrow morning", I replied.

  "Why didn't you follow her?, or you are not a fan of shopping?" Ramsey asked, "I don't just feel like going with her at all because it would be stressful for me especially now that my health is not so good at the moment", I replied. "What's wrong with your health, are you sick?. Please talk to me", Ramsey replied with a sad voice, he was trying to see if there's any issue bothering or affecting my health. Ramsey has been my friend for a long time and I find it hard to keep secret from him but I chose to keep this one to myself because I don't want him to feel sad once hears it, "There is no issue at all, I didn't feel like traveling with her to Dubai, that's all", I replied with a smile

"If you say so", he replied, I walked down to the bar where I store my assorted wine and I brought out one large bottle of red wine to spice up our discussion. Ramsey started smiling on seeing the wine and I could tell he was ready to dive into it, "So you said you want to discuss something important with me", he said as I placed the wine and some glass cups on the table. "Yes, I would like to take a break from all these work, I really want to go on a vacation just the way my son did few months back" I replied, "So you really want to go on a vacation now, I thought you don't like spending time on unproductive things?", he asked as he burst into laughter.

  "Come on Ramsey I'm serious, life is getting boring for me by each passing day and I don't know what to do anymore, that's why I called you for advice", I replied, "Going for a vacation doesn't sound bad at all if only you have an idea of the place you want to visit?", he asked. I have never really thought of the place that I would like to visit, I want to go somewhere far away from here, perhaps one the great countries in Africa "Maybe I would travel to south Africa to chil out for a while", I replied after a long period of silence.

"Why don't you travel to Nigeria instead and also use that means to pay your son a visit?", he asked. He was actually right though but traveling to Nigeria will make it look like a family reunion instead of a vacation and I don't want that at all, I want to go to somewhere new, a place where none of my family members have ever visited. "I don't think that would be a good idea, let me leave my son to live his life in Nigeria, he is not a kid anymore and I don't want to start bothering him by traveling to Nigeria to see him", I replied. "Okay then, if you say so, but will your wife travel with you?", he asked.

   "I would prefer if she stays behind, don't want any disturbance at all", I replied. "And what kind of disturbance will I give you if we travel together?", my wife interrupted. I and Ramsey were shocked to see her walk through the front door, I had no idea that she would come back today, I thought it was tomorrow. "I thought you said you will come back tomorrow?", I managed to ask "Yes, I initially planned to come back tomorrow but I changed my mind since I have already bought all the things I wanted, so you were planning to travel behind my back or what?", she asked with anger filled in her eyes 

"Please calm down, he wasn't trying to travel out of the country behind your back, you are clearly mistaking", Ramsey cut in. "How am I mistaking?, I overheard him saying that it would be best to leave me behind and travel out because he doesn't want any kind of disturbance, do I look like a disturbance to you?", she asked, directing her question to me. Seriously I'm short of words right now because any thing I say may worsen the situation so I decided to remain quiet after all, there's nothing she can do even if I want to leave her behind and travel alone. "Alright then, you can travel alone. Now I understand better that you care about yourself and nobody else", she replied and walked away in anger 

  I chased after her and grabbed her hand, she tried to free herself but I held her tight and was not willing to let go, "I'm really sorry, I only wanted to spend some time alone and enjoy life a little. I had no idea that it would hurt your feelings" I said softly. She looked into my eyes to confirm if I was actually serious with what I just said, "I'm not angry, you can travel if you want. I will be at home waiting for you till you return back", she replied.

"How about you travel with me?", I asked, she smiled for a quick second and I noticed that her mood changed suddenly. Women are strange creatures and it takes patience to flow with them else, you will end up breaking your home into pieces, "That would be nice, so when are we leaving?", she asked with a smile. "I don't know yet, we are still planning on the date but I will tell you everything once we finalize our discussion", I replied. She walked upstairs without saying anything and immediately she left, Rasmey burst into laughter.

  "Why are you laughing?", I asked looking so irritated, "you wife is really funny. I can see the trouble you pass through everyday", he replied. "Hope you are aware that she is still around and she can even hear you right now", I replied trying to signal him to keep his big mouth shut but he didn't seem to care at all, "So back to our discussion, how is it going to be?", I asked trying to change the topic back to what we were discussing earlier. "You are the one who is traveling, so you get to decide what happens", he replied

"Okay, would it be good to travel next week?", I asked "If that's good for you, then it's okay. I will miss you", he replied. I didn't say anything for a while, Ramsey has no idea that his family is going to come along with me, I want to do it in such a way that it look exactly like the one Andrew and his friends organized. I want to hang out with all my friends in another country entirely and I also want their families to be there too so that no one would start rushing back home with the aim of retuning to see their families. "Do you know that you will travel with me, in fact your woke family would travel with me", I replied.

   The look on his face made me realize that he doesn't understand what I just said, "How do you mean, I thought this was going to be your own personal vacation. How did my family get involved in this?", he asked looking so confused. "You see, I want my vacation to be a memorable one, so I want to hang out with all my best friends in a different country and I want their families to be there too", I replied

"And how do you intend to carry everyone along, do you know if we have plans. By the way, who else is into this vacation idea you have?", he asked. "Rooney and James agreed to follow me and their families also agreed to join them too so you are the only one left", I replied. "I don't know if my wife would agree to this?", he replied looking a bit scared. "Seems your wife is also giving you a hard time at home", I said while bursting into laughter.

  "It's not funny Philips, I don't even know how to tell her", he replied looking so worried. "If you would let me talk to her, I will explain everything and you will be quite surprised that she will agree without any question", I replied. "And what makes you think she will agree just like that?. You definably do not know a single thing about my wife", he replied.

"I don't need to know anything about her, just let me talk to her and I will change everything for you. Next week is around the corner and we have no time to waste", I replied and stood up to use the bathroom
