The next day, I woke up feeling so tired but I then remembered that I have an appointment with Obi by 5PM and my time says it's 8:30AM so I have some hours to relax and chill, I went downstairs but I couldn't see anyone and it looks as if my aunt is not at home because she would be in the kitchen or living room by this time, "Andrew!" a voice called me faintly and I turned around only to see that's it's my aunt fiance who called my name, "Good morning, guess you slept well" I replied and made my way to the kitchen to fix break fast for myself since no one has prepared anything, I'm beginning to miss my parents home in New York because all I have to do is wake up, brush my teeth and head over to the dining table for breakfast unlike this place where I have to either wait or prepare what I want myself and mind you, I'm a very bad cook
"Your aunt told me all that happened when you guys were in New York, I just want to say that I'm sorry, it's not easy to live with the fact that your father will die soon" he replied, that word that came out of his mouth made tears flow from my eyes but I quickly wiped it off so that he doesn't notice because it would look shameful and it would also make him think that I am weak, "it's okay, at least I will make you use of the of the little time I have to make him smile" I replied. He walked towards me and gave me a tight hug, "it's going to be okay, and I will always be here for you anytime you need me" he replied and left immediately while I tried to figure out what I will eat this morning because I'm famished
I managed to prepare some fried egg and tea, alongside with some toasted bread and I sat down on the dining table as so many thoughts ran through my mind. It feels like my whole world is coming to an end and I don't know where to start from but I will try my best to come out of this situation because there is no other option for me. Being the only son of my parents has made everything look so tedious for me because they expect so much from me, the responsibilities and so on. I left the house few later and drove down to the cinema house to watch a movie, I need to let out some thoughts if I want to stay healthy and happy.
Thank goodness, they have some nice romance movies but when I entered the cinema room, I noticed that they were playing the Titanic movie. I have heard about that movie so many times but I haven't found time to sit down and watch it from the beginning to the end, maybe today is the lucky day that I will finally get to watch it. I spent close to two hours watching that movie and I didn't know when I suddenly burst into tears, I didn't expect jack to die at all and seeing him sink down into the cold water was the hardest part for me
Everyone in the room cried out like they had lost someone very special to them but I just had to clean my tears, the movie was interesting and emotional too, I checked my time and found out that it's 1PM already, perhaps i should call Obi to meet me at the restaurant but maybe he might not be able to make it at this time because I told him 5PM. While walking down to the reception, I bumped into a lady and she accidentally dropped her phone on the floor, the screen was completely shattered because it fell with a heavy force, "is there something wrong with you, can't you see?" she asked with anger after picking up her phone from the ground, she was definitely angry and at this point, I began to sweat profusely like a thief.
'It was a mistake ma'am, i was lost in thoughts and didn't know I will bump into you like this, please forgive me" I replied while bending down to pick up some of her things that fell on the floor, the look on her face expressed anger and sadness because my apologies won't repair her damaged screen and the phone in her hand is an Iphone 11 pro max, "so what are you going to do about my damaged screen, I didn't buy this phone with sorry neither will I repair it with your apologizes" she said after I helped pick up her stuffs
I took the phone from her hand and saw that it was badly damaged, seems she didn't even hold the phone with care at the first place because I didn't bump into her with force but her phone fell with an extraordinary force, mistakes do happen but this one would definitely cost me my money. "Alright, can you follow me or take me to any phone shop so that I can get you a new one?" I asked, repairing the screen will be of no use because it won't be the same so it's better to buy a new one for her, "do you know the important files I have in this phone that you have scattered for me?, see the way you are just talking like it means nothing to you" she replied rudely and this statement of hers got me angry but I quickly calmed myself down so that I don't do anything stupid.
"Ma'am I'm sure he is obviously sorry for what he did, mistakes do happen and there is nothing we can do about it being that we are all humans" a man called out to her after he saw the way she talked to me rudely, "please will you keep your dirty mouth closed, who asked you to talk?, mind your business and take your monkey face away from this conversation" she replied. That word she said shocked me to my bones and it made me step back a little because I'm getting scared of her at this point, the man obviously did nothing wrong in trying to advise her over her aggressive character but the man simply walked away without say a single word and now she turned to me with her red eyes, "Alright, let's go to the nearest phone shop so that you can get me a new phone, now I will have to start restoring my files from the cloud. You are very lucky that I backed up all my files and what's app chats to the cloud storage if not you would have smelled your anus today" she replied
I kept staring at her not knowing what to do, this lady seems to be very toxic in nature and I fear that I may say something that I will later regret but I pray God helps me through this ugly situation. She got into the car and we drove round Lagos looking for a big phone shop because she rejected all the small phone shops, she wants to go to the popular ones, "Let's stop here, this is the mall I where I buy all my things" she said after we came across a big shopping mall named "Ikeja shopping mall".
The mall was indeed big and it was also filled to the brim with different people ranging from white Americans to black Nigerians, they walked about while trying to get the various items they came for but this lady however dragged me like a toy to the phone section and she pointed at the iphone slot which had varieties of different iphones, "Which one do you want" I asked while trying to bring out my credit card from my wallet. She kept staring at me as I brought out my master card, can't wait to buy her the phone and get out of her, I'm tired of this her constant looks, "Good afternoon sir, which of our products would you like to purchase?" the guy in charge asked with a lovely smile
"Bring an Iphone 12 Pro Max for me" she said without even waiting for the guy to ask her a question first, I was quite surprised because she seems to be ordering for a phone higher than the one I spoilt for her, "But the phone that fell from your hand is an Iphone 11 pro max, why are you asking for a 12 pro max?" I asked looking a bit pissed off, "you spoilt my phone so you will have to buy me another type because you made me dislike Iphone 11 pro max after seeing the screen get shattered" she replied
"Sir here is the Iphone your fiance ordered, and your bill is nine hundred thousand naira" the young man replied and this really stirred up my anger with a massive boost, "She is not my fiance and don't ever call her my fiance if you don't want to have issues with me personally" I replied with anger and the guy quickly apologized for his actions. I walked up to the cashier to pay the phone fee with my master card and I came back with the receipt while they handed the phone over to me and I quickly gave it to the the lady with care as I walked out of the mall without even waiting behind to see what she has to say. I got to my car and stood there thinking about what just happened within the past one hour, I couldn't believe that the sum of nine hundred thousand naira just left my Nigerian bank account because of just one mistake
The lady however came out with the brand new phone in her hands and she smiled like a new born baby while taking selfies with the phone, I kept staring at her like she was a movie and luck however ran out on her when she missed her step and fell down on the floor with the phone in her hand, she was wearing a high heel alongside a gown which was super short as it exposed her thighs. She kept exposing her thighs while we were in the car but I looked away like she wasn't there at all, "oh my God, she is bleeding" one of the security officers shouted as he rushed to help her from the ground, her lips were bleeding and when I looked at the ground, her brand new phone was shattered again, the back glass was broken and there was a large crack on the tip of the phone but it didn't affect the screen that much
I didn't know when I burst into laughter but I quickly entered my car so that she doesn't notice that I'm still around, I zoomed off with speed and when I looked at my side mirror, I noticed she was still staring at my car but I simply gave her the "Smiley face" and zoomed off like nothing ever happened. I later went to the restaurant by 5:20PM after spending some time in traffic, "You came quite late, hope everything is okay?" Obi asked when I walked straight to where he was seated. "Where do I even start from, as you can see me right now, do I even look well to you?" I asked looking so stressed out mentally
"Just start from the beginning, your face seems like you have been through a lot lately but I'm glad you came to meet me, we will find a solution to your problems together" he replied and this made me smile for a while, "I'm just coming from a mall where I spent nine hundred thousand to get a brand new phone for a who lady who I accidentally bumped into at the cinema, I accidentally broke her phone screen by mistake and she made me but her a brand new phone that is even higher than the one I spoil" I replied looking a bit sad about the past issue that took place few hours ago.
That's sad, why didn't you repair it for her instead of buying a new one that is quite expensive?" he asked looking a bit confused, "She said she wants a brand new one and I have no other option than to give her what she wants because she looks like someone who is very toxic in nature and I don't want that bad energy to affect my day" I replied. "Some ladies just move around looking for whom to devour of his or her hand earned cash, I pray she gets what's coming for her" he replied looking a bit pained, "she did get something bad in return as she fell down at the entrance of the mall when she missed her step, it was an hilarious moment for me and I couldn't stop laughing about it because she also broke the back glass of her brand new phone and cracked the tip of the phone" I replied looking a bit happy by the misfortune that happened to that young lady
"That's suits her right so how was your trip to New York, it was splendid right?" he asked, my mood changed immediately after that question because I started remembering all that happened that very day I spoke with my dad, "Andrew do you look alright, what happened?" he asked after noticing the sudden change in my facial appearance, "it's nothing bro, perhaps I shouldn't have bothered you in the first place" I replied while trying to stand up from my chair and head back home because I don't want my emotions to take the better part of me but I was surprised when he pulled me back to my chair
"You aren't going anywhere until you tell me what's wrong, I can't just let you walk out through that door looking like a sad soldier who came back from a bloody war first of all, let me order some drinks to spice up our discussion before we hit the nail in the head" he said and called out to the waiter to bring two bottles of wine with some chicken wings. "My heart is heavy right now, you wouldn't last a day if you were in my shoes" I replied looking completely depressed, "I know I might now last a day in whatever is happening to you right now but one thing I wouldn't do is to walk away from friends who are ready to give me their attention and aid me in solving my problems" he replied and I turned to him looking a bit happy to know that he really has my best interest in his heart
The waiter brought what he ordered for and we started eating till we were completely satisfied and the way Obi ate his chicken wings made me laugh a little because he ate everything without even leaving a little piece in the plate, he sure behaves like a pure African man and I do like him this way
