Jenny's point of view….
We got home and I ran out of the car without getting the shopping bags. I needed to wash my mouth and it was so urgent. His taste refused to leave my mouth and I could not bear it.
I ran into Owen who brushed me outside without saying anything yet I muttered sorry as I ran into my room.
I got to my room and searched through for my toothbrush. I saw it and I rushed Into the bathroom to brush off Zain's taste in my mouth.
I got done quickly and breathed in reliefly after checking my mouth to see if his taste was still in my mouth.
My stomach growled and remembered that I had to eat and that will be after cooking which will take up to an hour.
I just hope he brought in those bags. I left my room almost immediately. When I got to the kitchen, the bags were lying carelessly on the counter with no one in sight.
Since I just arrived, I would not know what Susan will be having. You know, pregnant women and trouble are friends.
I left to ask her what I am to prepare. I don't want to be in a situation where she has to complain that I cooked without asking her what to cook.
I got to her room and knocked, she invited me in and I went inside. She was on her phone with a glass of juice by her side.
"Sis, we came back and we got a lot of things, pasta is among and we got macaroni too so I don't know what you would like me to prepare for all of us?"
"Jenny, I know that you are not a baby and you are not so daft. You don't need to ask me a question like that. You are in charge of the kitchen from now so whatever you prepare they eat but be ready to prepare what I want. You know I'm pregnant,I can't eat all that you guys eat"
She said calmly.
"Sis, you don't expect me to prepare for the family then prepare your own separately. We got to eat what you eat, sis. So that's why I'm here to ask you what you will eat so that we all eat it?"
She dropped her phone and glared at me.
"If you're waiting for me to say what I want to eat then be my guest. I guess you are hungry, you can prepare what you want, my husband and his brother will eat it as well. When I am ready to eat or know what I want to eat, I will let you know. Jenny, don't be a headache to me. you are not 5 hours here and you really giving me headaches"
She said angrily and looked away from me like I am a disgusting thing or whatever. I sighed inwardly. I didn't expect her to be like this. I know I'm here to help her but she should at least address me calmly, not like some sort of stranger who is in her house.
I turned around and I left her room. On my way out I ran into Zain who did not look my way as he walked towards his room.
I know what he does, he pretends I don't exist in his house then outside he wants to be all over me. I wish he would treat me outside the same way he treats me inside his house.
I got to the kitchen with a deep frown on my face. If not that I love her so much, I would have just picked my bag and left without caring about what mom says or anyone else. They can't just be running my life anyhow.
"Jenny, calm down. You know pregnancy and mood swings so you don't have to blame your sister for the way she's behaving. Don't be too angry, alright"
I said to myself trying to calm myself down and it worked like magic. I know right but I've got this gift of talking to myself and it listens. Like when I'm angry, I pick a mirror and I speak to myself and boom, the anger will go. You know I have always believed in this saying: how you react to what people say depends on you. If you don't want to react you definitely won't react but if you want to react you surely react. It's up to people to say something and it's up to you to take it however you want to take it.
Having you dealt with my anger, the next thing was to know what to prepare. I just need to prepare something that would not take time and since it's in my capacity to prepare what I want, I decided to go for noodles. It will not take me time.
I don't care if they're going to eat noodles or not but since Susan said I can prepare whatever I want, I don't care anyway. If I prepare and they don't want then they should cook whatever they want by themselves, I am no one's slave.
I searched for a pot and when I got one, I rinsed it and added two cups of water inside and had it put on the burner while I began arranging the things we bought. I don't know how she does her things so I am going to do it my way. I would be too daft to go ask her again where to put these things. If she comes to the kitchen and sees that they are not in their right places then she would take it from there.
I was going to prepare noodles for three so I picked four packs of noodles and broke it down inside the hot water in the pot and allowed it to boil for some time.
By now I was done arranging the stuff we bought, so I sieved the first water I used to parboil the noodles out then put it back on the burner.
I added the necessary ingredients and let it cook to finish.
