Dr Emmanuel sighed,
"It's dangerous for you to carry the baby without the baby car seat so I made arrangements before you arrived. This is just a little gifts to baby Claire"
I wondered why he would get a baby car seat for Claire. Is it his way of saying sorry for cheating with my wife?.
I gestured for the nurse to place the baby car seat and after that, I had Claire put on it. She made a baby sound. I smiled sadly.
"If only your mama did not leave us, it would be so much fun raising you up"
I thought as I smoothed her hair.
Closing her door side, I got to the driver seat then drove off on Dr Emmanuel and Nurse Grace watch.
I will still have to come back here in the evening.
Jenny's point of view…
Opening my eyes I found June and Thomas hovering over me, concerned.
I sat up, confused as to what was happening.
"What is it?"
I asked, trying to shake off the drowsiness from my head
Thomas looked relieved that I was awake before answering.
"You collapsed and we were worried…" he trailed off as June spoke up, a concerned look on her face,
"How are you feeling?"
"Fine."
I replied with a yawn, rubbing my eyes slightly as I took in the sight around me.
" What am I doing in their house?"
I asked myself then I remembered what had brought me there, Susan's death.
I shivered suddenly.
"Hey, hey calm down. It'll be ok,"
June comforted me with a hand on my shoulder,
"I am sorry about your loss. You need to put yourself together. She's gone and nothing is going to bring her back even if you cry a river, she's not coming back so take heart my dear."
She said calmly
Tears welled up in my eyes but I brushed them aside instead saying,
"Thank you for comforting me, June"
She smiled brightly.
"We are here for you"
Thomas said reassuringly.
"Thanks guys"
I responded with a smile, I couldn't help the little tears escaping my eyes though. My sister was gone and no one could replace her
I stood up and made to leave but June held me back .
" I don't trust you to be alone. Thomas said Zain brought you here so you would be here until he is back"
This was true, Zain did bring me here so Thomas could keep an eye one me
I nodded in agreement and Thomas left, leaving only June and I .
"So this is what it feels like, to lose someone,"
I thought sadly, looking at June who seemed just as sad as I felt.
June moved closer, gently wrapping her arms around me and pulling me into an embrace.
"This will past"
I nodded then buried my head on her chest as I sob quietly. She made no attempt to stop me, rather she comforted me by rubbing my back gently.
"If you need to cry to get better do it, just don't overdo it"
I laughed softly then continued crying. I cried for a few minutes more before calming down enough that June let go of me.
We remained silent for a while until she asked,
"how did it happen?"
"I don't know. A news came from the hospital that she is dead."
I paused and looked up at her,
"How did you hear about her death?
I asked confused, I know did not tell them anything.
"News travel faster, don't worry how we got to know"
she said cryptically.
I looked away from her.
"It's fine."
I mumbled then closed my eyes. I was tired from all the crying and just wanting to rest.
I heard footsteps and I opened my eyes to see Thomas coming back to the living room with Tea and cookies.
He passed me one of the cookies then sat next to me and June on the other side. We ate quietly until Thomas said,
"I am glad that you're okay".
I simply nodded in response
I turned to look at him, his expression was serious and sincere,
"Thank you so much "
I said sincerely from the dept of my heart. He smiled and ruffled my hair making me to smile.
"You are most welcome. Anything for a pretty girl like you"
He said winking. June gave a hearty laugh.
These are people I just met and they are this kind. It shows we still have good people.
