"Where are your parents?"
Kulture suddenly asked, throwing the last of her candy into her mouth. She did not like the silence that was beginning to descend on them so she had to break the ice with her question.
"They walked off, I am sure they are somewhere around."
He explained his parents whereabouts" What are you two? Are you a couple?"
He questioned looking between both of them then giggled at his question.
"We are friends"
Owen answered. Kenny giggled again before asking if he could pet him. Owen nodded and allowed Kenny to pat his head.
"You don't look old enough to be here" Kulture stated, still watching their interaction.
"Don't forget I came with my parents"
Kenny answered sharply then looked at Owen and signaled for him to bring his head closer.
"Feeling guilty would not help you heal. When love knocks at your door again, don't hesitate to accept it. The one you think might be the one is actually not the one"
Kenny whispered to Owen and afterwards, he stood up,waved at them and ran off.
Owen was left speechless and Kulture was surprised by the boy's attitude.
Kulture did not get to hear what he said to Owen and she was not going to ask Owen. She did want to sound like she was desperate to know what goes on around him.
Owen still had his eyes on the little boy until he could not see him again then he sighed and looked at Kulture.
"I think we are done for today. You are going to work and I don't want to make you go late"
Owen commented then stood up. He held out his hand to her and she took it.
"We did not go half the town, you know that? Besides, my shift starts by 8pm and there is still three more hours to that"
She whined unsatisfactorily and Owen chuckled.
"I am not leaving white Hills any time soon so we can do it tomorrow, next or even next week. I just felt I am okay with what I have seen today"
He replied then poked her shoot out lips"I want to do something else"
Immediately the words left his mouth, Kulture's eyes lit up in excitement.
"What's that?"
She could not stop herself from asking.
"Since you badly want to do something to kill time, let's shop for Claire."
Owen proposed which made Kultures eyes widen as wide as saucers.
"Oh, my gosh! That sounds amazing! Let's get started!"
she yelled, jumping up and down excitedly. Owen tried to calm her but he failed.
Giving up, he started moving. Kulture did not realize she was alone until she looked up and saw how far Owen had walked.
She quickly picked a race and caught up with him in no time.
"Were you planning to leave me there?"
Kulture joked then laughed. Owen shook his head and continued walking.
After walking for a while, they arrived at a small kiddies boutique and went inside. It was pretty empty so Kulture knew that they were lucky.
"Let's begin"
Owen said, taking a basket after the doorman directed them on how to shop.
.
.
After getting everything they needed and paying, they decided to go back home with a cab. On their way home, Owen could not stop thinking about Mercy.
He wondered if she is awake already and after battling with himself, he concluded to go back to the hospital to check on her.
"I need to understand what's with her and I, why can't I stop thinking about her? There has to be an explanation for that?"
He thought. His phone vibrated and quickly pulled it out of his pocket.
He did not check the caller ID and picked up.
"How dare you, Owen? You have the audacity to hide my medical condition away from me. I thought we are brothers who meant to look out for each other. You did not only sleep with my wife, you kept something as essential as my inability to have children at the moment away from me. One thing is just keeping me from showing what I am made off to you"
The call went up as soon as Zain finished talking.
"He found out"
Owen breathed out, looking at the phone in his hand as his thoughts ran wild.
"How do I face him now?"
He asked again and looked at Kulture,
"My brother knew that I slept with his wife"
The cab driver turned immediately and stared at Owen with a mad expression.
"That's the highest betrayal. If you know what is good for you, make up with you brother but for now, let him be" The man stated and faced the starring
Kulture sighed and squeezed his hand.
"It's a good thing he found out. The guilt will be lesser now. Like Mister here said, you will talk things through with your brother but for now, let him be mad at you. It will help him heal faster."
Owen nodded and relaxed his head on the headrest then closed his eyes.
"I have really crossed the lines. It's up to me to make things right"
He concluded in his mind.
