A Welcomed Development

"Miss Setory, can you help me with my breakfast please?" I asked politely. She nodded and walked forward. That's why they call her and I bought the name, I can't even remember her name actually.

I watched as she made my tea and fixed jam on two slices of bread and handed the plate and the tea mug to me.

She was happy to help. I could see it from the excitement in her eyes. I thought since Mitchell and Michael are eating what she made, I might as well follow in their footsteps. I can't remember the last time breakfast was made for me.

  "Thank you"

She smiled then left.

Mitchell had her last slice then wiped her mouth clean.

  "You liked it?"

I asked taking a sip from my tea.

"Of course I do. It taste different and it's a welcomed development "

"What do you mean by that?" I could not help my curiosity.

"I meant, for as long as I remember, we have eaten what you made. Eating what someone else made gives a different vibe and I like it and most Importantly, we have get to relieve you of much work in this house."

I nodded and continued sipping.

"Michael and I are really sorry we made you work your butt off both here and in the restaurant. I did not understand why you had to leave us at Miss Celine place. I know we were little but I knew quite a lot. Like you left us with her for two years. I was sad and when I grew older, I thought I should make you pay for doing that to Micheal and I. I don't know about Michael but that was why I insisted you do everything for me. And you being a great mom, you never complained. We are sorry, things will be different from now on, whatever reason is it that made you do that we will understand when you are ready to explain"

I gulped and dropped my mug, clutching it tightly. So this is what this is all about. They had a glimpse of their first two years aside from me. It has to be the reason they never got to call me mum until they decided to, they were mad at me. I do owe them an explanation but how am I going to go about it? I looked at Michael, he was quiet, just sipping his tea. He was done with his slices of bread. I took my stares to Mitchell and she had her eyes on me. I felt a twitch in my stomach and I pushed back my tears inside.

"I do owe you explanation but can you let me do it in my own time?"

Mitchell looked at Michael who shrugged off his shoulders "Alright mom, you owe us an explanation and because we love you, we will let you do it in your own time" I smiled, knowing full well how they always understood me.

I sighed with relief and took my mug again.

"By the way mom, you look exceptionally beautiful this mom, only that you have circles under your eyes. Did you sleep well last night?"

My super detective daughter, nothing pasess her without her notice. She might have Susan's look but you see mom's character, she has got it.

"I went through the sales of the past week last night that's why I did not get enough sleep but don't worry, I will take a break from the office, maybe leave earlier enough or take you guys shopping "

Last part of my statement wasn't planned. It just came out like that. Their eyes lit up,"Really mom! That's awesome. I know we went shopping last week but I never get tired of shopping." She said excitedly.

"That's great, Mitch, new outfits, new playstation. That's cool"

Michael chipped and I was so glad that the morning was turning out better than I imagined.

"Back to why I said you are exceptionally beautiful this morning. I have this gorgeous teacher who is like 35 and so single, I was thinking mom, you both should meet. I can't remember you ever talking to any man. You had us doesn't mean you don't have a life aside from us or are you mourning dad forever."

I never expected her to make the last statement so it came as a shock to me. My mug slipped off my hands and the content splashed all over the place including on our body, which means we are gonna have to change our dresses this morning.

Did I really say that their father is dead? What the heck and why is she matching me with her teacher?
