I could not move forward towards him, it felt like my feet did not want to move. No matter how I tried to take a step, my feet will not comply. He has not seen me yet, which he will do very soon.
Catherine lifted her face up from the file she was looking at and stared at me, asking me with her eyes if something was wrong.
I shook my head no and took several breaths and forced myself to walk towards the couple.
He had his face on the magazine, pointing something out to his girlfriend.
I sat down on my own seat and cleared my throat, the lady was the first to look up and my mouth dropped. Here I was thinking I was going to be surprised by one but it turned out to be two.
She stared at me longer than expected then smirked,
"Tasha Martins!"
She exclaimed and at that moment, Felix raised his face up. He first had a confused expression which later turned to recognition then shock expression.
"Tasha!"
He muttered surprised, trying to see if I was the one he is seeing. I was speechless. How in the world did Felix and Ava Bailey meet and are they really the couple I will be hosting?.
"You know yourselves?"Ava asked, turning to him. He nodded yes with his eyes still fixed on mine. He was not shocked anymore but angry.
"We do, as a matter of fact?"
He replied coldly and looked away. I was disappointed that he was actually angry at me, not that it matters anyway.
I smiled like his presence was not affecting and looked at Ava,"Ava Bailey, nice to see you again. What a small world?"
The sarcasm dripping from my voice was quite noticeable. Her smile remained on her face, which was kind of annoying. She took Felix's hands into hers and gave it a little squeeze.
"It is indeed a small world. Who would have thought that my old schoolmate will be the one designing my engagement gown?"
There was a way she said the last of her statement that stirred up something in me. Felix remained motionless as he had his eyes on me. I bet you, a lot is going through his mind right now.
A part of me wanted to turn around and run from there but I kept my gaze on his face.
"Such is life. You can't imagine the surprise seeing you here and with a good guy, who thought it could be possible?"
Her smile faded away and her cheeks puffed as if she had tasted vinegar or something else unpleasant. I could tell she was annoyed with my answer and Felix noticed it but said nothing only to keep watching me.
Catherine cleared her throat and looked up at me.
"Can we do what we all here for, there will be time for catching up"
She said and I knew she said that to clear the tension in the room which I am grateful she did.
"That's right, so what exactly can Tasha Fashion do for you, Mrs Shylin to be?"
I asked maintaining a professional smile.
Ava cleared her throat and looked at Felix briefly before turning her attention to me.
"I have picked a design and I am just hoping to get the best out of it. I hope I am at the right place?"
I smiled, nodding my head.
"You are at the right place. Can I see the design?"
I demanded and she nudged Felix on the arm, bringing him back from whatever thing he was thinking.
"Yeah;"
He mumbled, bringing out his phone. While he was in his pocket, I took in his appearance. His hair was still jet black and he was taller than when I knew him. His facial features looked different since the last time I saw him but I can still recognize those chiseled jawlines and those strong chins. The only thing I haven't forgotten were his eyes, they were just the same. Same color and depth. He remained undoubtedly handsome. I also noticed that both of them were wearing matching outfits. His green jacket was the same design as the short dress she has on. Same sneakers and designed couple necklace. They were both stunning.
He handed his phone to me and in the process our hands brushed together. He looked up at my face and quickly pulled his hand away like it touched a hot coal. I felt wounded that he could behave like that. I knew him for a little while and why I never wanted to get in touch with him after I left home was because I felt there was no need for it but right now, I knew I had thought wrong.
