Owen had nothing to say, he was speechless. He just pities those on Zain's list of revenge and number one is Jenny, it's funny how those we love soon turned enemy because life happened.
If he should start from now to eternity convincing Zain to stop his quest for revenge, it will be a waste of time. What he has to do for him so pray for him not to be consumed by it.
"I can imagine my dear brother but don't you think I should be included in that list of yours. I am as guilty as charged"
"No Owen, you did nothing but to go for the one you love and sad enough I was too blind to see it and because of my blindness we lost her. You are paying for your sins by having to live with the guilt of Susan's death. It's enough punishment already"
" But sti.."
"No but, Owen. If you are not going back to the office, go do something else order than pester my life"
Owen turned and started leaving the room. The discussion was over because Zain said so. It's Zain's life, his decision. He is tired of trying to make Zain see clearly.
The door closed and Zain took a deep breath and headed to the bathroom to take a shower like he had wanted to before he was interrupted.
*****
Claire Jumped from one side of her bed to another laughing. Susan had done everything ghostly possible to make her stop jumping but Claire will not hear of it. She was obviously in a good mood but it can't be associated with her journey to White Hills. She was simply happy.
"I will be the one to bear the pain if anything happens to you from up there. Now get down"
Susan screamed yet again, Claire Jumped.
"I won't, you will have to make me"
She responded and jumped again, this time higher.
"What can I do to make you stop jumping?"
Susan asked and sat down. She was tired of shouting. Claire suddenly stopped when she saw Susan was tired of telling her to stop jumping.
"I know what you can do"
She sat beside and nudged Susan on the arms.
"Go to granny's house with me"
She requested and Susan raised her brows.
"No I won't, it's your granny's house not mine"
Claire was surprised that Susan had to refuse her. First time, she refuses to do something for claire.
"But please, you know I have no one to talk to there. I will be so bored that I would want to come back as soon as possible"
Claire pleaded with her lips pouted. She was cute with those fine lips of hers shooting out. Susan giggled but her expression turned serious the next second.
"If I go with you, will you stay the weekend?"
"Of course, I will. We will have so much fun. I don't care what people will think of me, I wouldn't mind. I will talk anytime I want and play anytime I want to so far you are with me and I will also not get bored"
She stated excitedly.
"Alright I am going with you but you will have to be mindful when you talk so that your grandparents would not think you are going insane by talking to yourself"
Susan said sternly and Claire Jumped up again,"who cares, they can think of whatever they want"
Her voice was higher than usual and Susan was afraid that someone passing by her door would hear it.
"I care'
Both turned towards the door and there stood Mercy. It's obvious she just arrived but how come they did not hear the sound of the door when it opened. They were so engrossed in their discussion that they never took notice.
"Mom, what are you doing at my door?"
"Good afternoon to you too Claire. Have you seen me this afternoon?"
Mercy asked, walking into the room fully. Claire countenance changed and she dropped on the bed, crossing her legs on the process.
"It's because you were not here when I returned from school."
Mercy sighed because of her daughter's reply and made to sit down but she was stopped before she could.
"Don't sit"
Claire screamed when she saw mercy trying to sit where Susan was seated. Mercy was frightened by the tune of Claire's voice that she jumped away.
Susan smiled and disappeared and that's when Claire understood what she unconsciously did.
"Sorry Mom, you can sit"
She said apologetically.
"No, I am fine here. Are you okay?"
Mercy refused to sit. Her daughter acted weird a little while ago and she thought standing will enable her to see if she is truly okay.
"Of course, I am fine. Do I look unwell"
"Not physically but mentally. Do you see things?"
