I wonder what kind of friend I am? The one who abandoned her friend because she has got feelings for her. I sighed again and sank deep on the chair. My hand reached my hair to tug it harshly. How can I blame myself for that? I did what I did because I did not want her around. I needed my peace. I was dealing with my breakup with Zain and being anywhere close to her would have ignited the fire of flame and she would have done the world to convince me to date her.
I will just have to find a way to reach her. She is still my best friend and the twins' godmother no matter what has happened. I believe by now she has gotten over her feelings for me.
I will try to contact Mrs Martins, she will be kind enough to give Tasha's contact to me, if not anything, just to ask how she has been doing over the years.
Something dropped and I jotted back to the present. It was a box tied with ribbon. It fell off from the bag and I wondered how it came. I am so sure that it was just the dress in the bag or maybe my excitement did not let me see something else was inside the bag.
I bent and picked it up, there was a tag attached to it.
"To future Mrs Ford"
I chuckled, shaking my head. Harrison is really out of his mind.
I tore the box open and guess what I found? A gold necklace. It was pure gold. It was glistening like the ray of the dusk sun. It was as beautiful as the gown.
I must agree that Harrison has a good taste. He must surely be trying to impress me so that I will not stand him up for tonight. For a man who thinks he has got me wrapped around his fingers, is he not doing too much?
It doesn't matter, what he thinks or feels is none of my business. Only business I will be having with him tonight is this dinner date and some business talk. He will have to listen to me this time around because I am ready to bend the rules in my favour. This time he won't be able to push me away easily. I smiled thinking about his face when he realized that I am not as fragile as he thinks.
Oh, it is going to be a great evening... I closed the box, putting it away with care before standing up. I need to get ready.
Writer's point of view…..
Claire dragged her teddy bear behind her as she left her room. Whatever she will be needing at white Hills has been packed into the car that will be taking her there. Susan smiled at how childish Claire was dragging the teddy as if she was fighting with it. It warms her heart. She can't get enough of Claire and whatever Claire does sweetens her belly.
"This is going to be fun"
Claire giggled the moment she walked outside. Everyone turned in her direction and was surprised to see that she was actually happy going to white Hills. Zain wondered what might have made her this happy, it can't be him then if not him, who? As far as he is concerned, the only person in the mansion who lightens Claire's mood is him.
Mercy was so happy that her daughter could be this joyous going to white Hills, it actually means there is hope for her. Owen was not left out in her joy. He squeezed her hand and nudged her on the shoulder before winking.
"There is hope, you know"
Owen said smiling.
"I can see that"
Mercy responded in that same manner.
Lora scoffed and shifted her weight from left leg to her right. She was angry she had to be ordered out here to say goodbye to the ZIDAT PRINCESS.
"Why is everyone staring at me in surprise?"
Claire asked, looking from one person to another. An answer was not provided. She shrugged her shoulders carelessly and walked to Zain.
"Uncle, see you in two days?"
She kissed his two cheeks.
"Okay, my dear. I will be here waiting to have you back. Make sure to have fun and don't give grandma headaches. I won't be happy if you do"
She smiled,"I will keep that in mind"
She then moved to her father and kissed him as well.
"See you soon, dad. I love you"
"Sure darling. Have fun"
Claire nodded at what her father said then hugged her mom,"Mom, I love you"
It was a whisper, only meant for Mercy to hear. Mercy felt tingles in her stomach and realised she is having butterflies. Her daughter had meant these words for the first time and her hope of a miracle rekindled. Maybe one day, she will finally be her daughter's mother in the real sense.
"I love you very much sweetheart. See you in two days"
"Alright mom"
And with that being said, Claire stepped away from her mother and dragged her teddy to the car waiting to drive her to white Hills on everyone's watch.
