Life Staking Investigation

"She disclosed that for some months, people have been abducted by so-called members of the poison tribe."

"And anyone who goes missing have never been found or returned home," Qin Feiye said.

"She also added that the members of the poison tribe use a dark technique which enables them to take the life force of people and greatly increase their cultivation."

"They also use the core of these individuals to make powerful elixirs and poisons," she said.

"Hmmm...I think what you said is interlinked with the jobs Hu Mei and Chen Feng were offered," Elder Si Yin cut in.

"Such wicked act, I can't believe they would go so far and use humans to increase their cultivation,"

"What an evil technique," Elder Si Yin said.

"Chen Feng! Seems you and Hu Mei need to be extra cautious in order not to get caught or victimized," he said.

"Yes Elder, we would do our best and be safe", he said.

"Good", Elder Si Yin said.

"Back to team three; how was your investigation," Elder Si Yin asked.

In that moment, Tan Ning stood up to speak.

"I must confess that our experience are indeed interwoven. As part of our plan, Gui Shan and I went to a tavern to see if we could get any useful information," Tan Ning said.

"On getting to the tavern, we went to the drinking bar and grabbed a seat. Just when we came, we met four men already seated on a table opposite us."

"One of the men was kind enough and offered to pay our bills no matter what we ordered," he said.

"Gui Shan and I picked interest in them as they looked so spirited,"

"So we decided to listen to their conversation. Just then, one of the men started saying some things as he was already drunk."

"Still listening, we overheard them talking of an overnight job that would earn them a huge amount of money."

"At this point, my interest grew wider so I and Gui Shan decided to stalk one of the men home to see what we could find," Tan Ning said.

"But fortunately, as we got to his home, we discovered that he is just a poor man with a lovely family. He actually made it known to his family that they'll desert the village tomorrow,"

"So after that, Gui Shan and I decided to return back to the inn and here we are. But we planned to stalk them later in the night to see what job they are given," Tan Ning said.

"Lest I forget, they agreed to meet at Zu coffee shop by 9pm", he said as he sat down.

"Did you just say Zu coffee shop???," Elder Si Yin asked.

"Yes Elder," Tan Ning replied.

"Isn't this address similar to where Chen Feng and Hu Mei are to meet with the waitress?," he asked.

"Yes Elder, the address is same with where we agreed to meet," Chen Feng confirmed.

"Seems the poison tribe are using the villagers to do their dirty jobs. What a sly and despicable method."

"Gui Shan! Tan Ning!" Elder Si Yin called out.

"Yes Elder," they both replied.

"Please, get ready to backup Chen Feng and Hu Mei in case anything happens."

"But I advice the both of you to watch closely from afar and avoid being spotted. Also ensure to take details of the place you are carried to and pay attention to the terrain," Elder Si Yin said.

"Yes master", they responded.

"Also to counteract any form of surveillance, Gui Shan and Tan Ning should lay wait close to the meeting point," he said.

"For Chen Feng and Hu Mei, you should abide by the agreement in order to ward off suspicion and arrive there at the stipulated time," he said.

"Yes Elder," Hu Mei and Chen Feng responded.

"For Qin Feiye and Bi Yao, you both should keep watch in the inn as usual. Don't go along with them," Elder Si Yin advised.

After that, the meeting was dispersed as Elder Si Yin returned to his chambers. Meanwhile, the students were mapping out some tactics on how to curtail their skills and keep their personality in check.

Time ran so fast, it was already 8pm. Gui Shan and Tan Ning were already on the move as planned to arrive there beforehand.

They moved surreptitiously as they headed for the Zu coffee shop. When they closely approaching the coffee shop, they both targeted a place to hide while they awaited the main event.

True to Elder Si Yin's words, some members of the poison tribe came before the stipulated time and took specific positions ready to act Incase anything occured.

It was 9pm eventually, all the men joined the game one by one. Try were all in attendance as Hu Mei and Chen Feng were already present.

The leader who disguised as a coffee shop attendant, came forward and addressed them.

"I'm Zi Lan and it's a pleasure to meet each and everyone of you", she said.

"I believe everyone of you present is in agreement and are ready to carry out the job."

"I must announce to you that you have all come to a bridge where you can't go back," Zi Lan said as she smirked.

"From this moment on, you'll do as I say or lose your life, the choice is yours."

At this point, all the men were angered by her words and in exasperation decided to challenge her.

"Hahaha...I can't believe that one woman is so confident to order us around wanting us to be her dogs," one of the men said.

Just then Zi Lan laughed loudly as she gave a signal to her underlings to come out of the shadows. Upon her signal, they appeared with terrifying look on their faces.

That moment, fear gripped all the men. Most of them lost their balance and confidence. Meanwhile, Hu Mei and Chen Feng played along.

"Forgive me for not introducing myself properly. I'm Zi Lan, leader of the poison tribe in Sushi division," Zi Lan said as she laughed in a despicable manner.

All the men at this point we're already scared to the bones.

"We'll do as you say, please spare us", the men said.

"Good for you!" She said in as she laughed.

But to the surprise of everyone, a man dropped his cowardice, came out from their midst and challenged her in a defiant manner.

He attacked Zi Lan with a dagger and after some struggle got killed by Zi Lan.

"Anyone else?" She announced as she laid the man's dead body on the floor.

Hu Mei and Chen Feng were already boiling at this point, but they had no choice than to stay calm and watch with their arms folded.

Zi Lan then instructed on of her underlings to dispose of the man.

"From this moment on, you'll do as I say", Zi Lan said.

"You all would enter into these houses and abduct a family. Not to worry, each group will go in four," she said.

"If you try to escape, consider yourself dead," she said.

Hu Mei and Chen Feng played along and did as she said. All the men went to some houses acted as they were told. Soon all the groups returned back, each with a family.

"Good, I never thought it would be a huge success", she said.

After that, Zi Lan instructed that the men blindfold the abducted persons as they lead them away.

After that was done, they were all led away as they followed Zi Lan and her men. Soon they walked out of the village and headed for a cave which seemed deserted.

They entered the cave and soon went underground. Meanwhile, Gui Shan and Tan Ning stalked them taking note of the terrain.

Surprisingly, as they went deeper, they started hearing some sounds and crying. Soon they entered a room and to their surprise, they saw men, women and children who had been abducted from the village.

So they opened the eyes of the people they brought and locked them up with the rest. After the deed was done, the men stood for a while eager to see her next move.

"Sorry for the disappointment, you know the way here which ought to be secret, so I can't let you off," she said.

"Take them to the slaughter room and feed them to the dogs," she said in a mocking tone.

After her declaration, the hopeless men were forcefully taken to the slaughter room by her underlings.

At this point, Hu Mei and Chen Feng acted calm not wanting to take action before so many members of the poison tribe.

They were then led to a dungeon that was filled with wild beasts. But before the men could carry out the execution and feed them to the beast, Hu Mei and Chen Feng launched a surprise attack on them.

After some physical combat, Chen Feng and Hu Mei took defeated the underlings and fed them to the dogs instead.
