Chapter 22

The next day, the bloodline called

for another meeting so that it can

warn its members about taking

irrational actions. A new meeting

location was sent to members and

every member was mandated to

attend. When they converged, the

bloodline made it known to its

members that it does not want

them to go looking for Fred as it is

obvious that the lady vampire and

her Shadows wants to lure them out

with Fred. The Ace looked around

as he said, my officials and I have

have invited the best strategists and

they have looked into this matter.

The lady vampire and her shadows

are known to cause chaos openly

and that is what they are trying to

make us do. They want us to easily

locate Fred so that we will have a

face-off in open combat and

disturb the whole city. But we will

show them the reason why many

people in this city do not know about

our existence. We do things in secret

not in the open for everyone to see.

They want us to do the same thing

that made the city let us chase them

out but we will prove to them that we

are better and wiser. Fred has now

become collateral damage. We will

show them that we are not afraid to

lose a member. If they can lose theirs,

we can also lose ours without

blinking an eye. We want to appear

weak to them while we attack them

from underneath. Henceforth be

careful with whom you interact and

where you go as these ladies are out

to hunt down members of the bloodline.

Our mercenaries are ready and

they are already on the move, so I

will like us to pretend like we do

not care and we are scared of them.

When we will hit them from behind,

they will never know what hit them

as we will take them at unawares.

 News reaching me right now is that

Fred was taken because certain things

he did were found out and I also

heard that he has a daughter whom

he auctioned at the annual sales.

Who amongst you is in possession of

her? She was punished for the sins

of her mother, but if Fred never makes

it back alive, she will be set free for

the devotion of her father but she

can never be a member of the

bloodline because she's the

daughter of a betrayer. Her

mother betrayed the bloodline

so the only mercy she is getting

from us is for the devotion of

her father. So whoever is in

possession of that girl she would

set her free if her father comes

back dead.

Someone from the crowd spoke up

as he said, Ace and members of

the bloodline, I don't think the girl

should be set free because it

doesn't seem like what Fred

wanted. If Fred wanted the girl

to be free, he wouldn't have

auctioned her. Perhaps until the

death of Oma, we never knew

that her child belonged to Fred.

So he would have found a way to

protect the girl if he wanted her. I

feel that setting the girl free after

Fred has passed on is betrayal.

After that man spoke, some people

began to agree with him as some

were saying yes it's true while some

disagreed. Another man stood to

also speak. He greeted the Ace

and members of the bloodline

before he started speaking, Oma

paid for her crimes as she suffered

till the day she died, so I don't

think her daughter should be

made to suffer the same fate.

She should be allowed to make

her own choice, whether to join

the bloodline or suffer the same

fate as her mother. But since

there is a rule already which

states that the child of a rebel

cannot be accepted into the

bloodline, I think we should set

her free because Fred was too

extreme. And let's not forget that

Fred will do anything to hurt that

girl because he never expected Oma

to be pregnant or leave that

pregnancy, so Fred sees this girl

as a reminder of his tardiness

and not his daughter. I expected

the Ace to stop Fred from his

madness when he wanted to

auction his daughter after her

mother passed on. This kind of

act is only making us appear like

those that we kicked out of this

city years ago. In a place where

a man sells his own daughter and

nobody is saying anything about

it. What do you expect to happen

in such a place? This is not how

the bloodline operates because

this does not show mercy of any

 kind. Acts like these are beneath

us and I feel they should be left

for the lady vampires and her

Shadows because that's their

way, not ours.

Another man spoke up and said

when was it written in the laws

of the bloodline that we should

show mercy? Mercy is a sign of

weakness not strength, and Fred

understood that properly. Grow

some spine and stop talking

about mercy. If you got weak over

the years, do not blame it on the

bloodline rather you should blame

your weak heart which couldn't

appreciate the rules of the bloodline

that has kept us going for years.

People fear the bloodline not

because of our ability to show

mercy, they fear us because they

know that we don't show mercy.

So I say she should never be free

from whoever has bought her

because nobody does business to

lose.

There was noise everywhere as

people began to argue. While some

were in support of freeing Lotanna,

some were against it. They argued

that such an act of mercy will

make them appear weak.

Finally, the Ace spoke up as he

ordered all of them to be quiet

before asking who bought the

girl in the auction. Kamsy came

up and said he was the one who

bought the girl. Then, the Ace

asked him  what he wants to

do with the girl. 

My wife Samira and I cannot

have children because she had

some complications after her

first miscarriage. She came up

with an idea that I should get a

young girl who will be too vulnerable

to claim her child and get her

pregnant so that she can have

the child for us. When Fred came

up with the auction of his daughter,

my wife saw it as an opportunity

and made our bid for her. We won

the bid and got the girl. We took

care of her for five years and made

sure she was of legal age before

taking her away and today, she is

pregnant.

As Kamsy said the girl is pregnant,

some of the members began to hail

him and asked him how many times

he had to go before he knocked the

girl up. And some began to tell him

that he is one lucky bastard to have

taken the virginity of a girl in his

lifetime. The Ace got angry as he

roared in anger and shut them up.

He looked at Kamsy and asked him

so what do you intend to do with

this girl after giving birth to your

child?

Kamsy shook his head to indicate

that he doesn't know what to do

with the girl after she gives birth

as that is a decision for him and his

wife to make.

After their meeting with the Ace,

some members of the bloodline

approached Kamsy and told him

that they will like to contract the

girl in his care to also have children

for them after she gives birth to his.

One of the members even suggested

that they could turn her into the

Bloodline's surrogate mother and

Kamsy will be handsomely rewarded

for that.

 While listening to what the members

of the bloodline were saying, he

was mad within him and felt like

throwing a punch at their faces.

But being irrational does not solve

a problem so he was calm as he

smiled and said we will think about

it. Only his friend Joshua knew what

was really happening in his mind

he walked close and pulled Kamsy

along with him as they walked out

together.

When did you return from your

journey? You did not call me while

you were there neither were we able

to talk when you returned. What's

the matter? Kamsy laughed while

looking at Joshua. He shook his

head at his friend and said if the

mountain does not come to

Mohammed then Muhammed

should go to the mountain. Since

I didn't call you, what stopped you

from placing a call through to me?

Josh laughed and said I have been

very busy lately.

Busy doing what? Oh! I get it. You

have been very busy trying to

please your women isn't it? Josh

gave Kamsy a hug and said I just

want to kiss you right now because

I no longer do women. I'm now

interested in men and you, my friend,

is the only man that I have been

crushing on all these years. He

pushed his friend away and said

you pervert stay away from me.

Josh burst into laughter after seeing

his friend's reaction. Kamsy looked

at his friend and said you had better

not become gay because you will

ruin the asshole of any man you

meet. Believe me Josh, the only

thing that can accommodate you,

is a vagina. They kept laughing as

they discussed before Josh said,

okay, guess what has been keeping

me busy apart from my women.

He smiled and said that should be

your job at the hospital. Josh

looked towards his friend

mischievously and said, I know you

won't believe this, but I now have a

woman living in my house and she

has been the one keeping me busy.

Kamsy could not believe what Josh

had just said because the Josh he

knows we will never allow any

woman live with him not even for

twenty-four hours because he loves

his space. He slapped his friends

arm and said this woman must be

very special, or oh! I know your

mum is around and she found a

way to come stay in your house by

force.

 Josh kicked Kamsy and said I am

offended by your word. What will my

mum be doing in my house and who

will grant her access to the house?

Has my mum finished touring the

whole of Europe that my house will

be the next tourist site for her to visit?

Remembering Josh's mum made

Kamsy laugh out loud because when

Josh wanted to start up his hospital, 

his mum was horrified at the location

he chose. She wanted him to

travel out of the country to start

his medical practice.

Joshua, you can't stay in a third world

like Africa to start up a hospital

because you are too talented for that.

What do you want to treat around

this area? My son listen to me you

need to go to Europe because

nobody will take you seriously in this

country as they believe that the

best medical care comes from any

of the continent except for Africa. Please

listen to me, do not waste your

talent in Africa and just come with

me to Europe already. I have

contacts who will set you up with

the right people and before you

know it, you will be at the peak of

your career and not wasting away

in some third-world country. Josh

People prefer to travel out of this

country to get treatment because

they don't trust the medical system

of this country.

Josh looked at his mother on that

day while she was giving him her

best advice according to her. He

sighed heavily and thought his

mother was impossible. Josh told

his mother about his hospital

because he wanted her to be proud

of him for once in her life as all she

has ever had to tell him is how

disappointed she has been with him.

After listening to his mother on

that day, he gave up on ever having

a peaceful relationship with her

as their conversation that day

proved to him that he can never

please his mother in this life.

Kamsy held onto Josh's hand and

said if the woman in your house is

not your mother then who is she?

And please do not lie to me that

you fell in love because you and

love do not get along. Josh laughed

as he said I think I enjoy the

suspense. Kamsy pulled his friend

towards him and said you bastard

tell me what you're hiding already.

If you kill me in suspense, you will

have my wife, Samira to take care of.

The mention of Samira's name made

Josh shiver as he said Kamsy do not

mention that woman's name again.

The woman living in my house is

Linda. After hearing what Joshua

had just said, Kamsy went for quiet

for a few minutes as he was looking

at Joshua with his mouth opened.

After a few seconds, he regained his

senses and shouted, no way! You and

Linda living together in one house?

That's not possible. I know you're

pulling my legs. You hate that

woman with everything you've got.

You even hate the sound of her name,

so how did you end up living together?

Kamsy looked at Josh and said I

think I need to call your mum and

tell her that all is not well with you

right now.

Josh looked at his friend and said if

you call my mother, I will chase you

in your dreams and make sure I

murder you so that you don't wake

up from your sleep. They both

laughed for a while before Kamsy

looked at Josh again and said

please tell me the truth. I have only

been gone for a week and so much

has happened already. What about if

I travel for a year? That means I'll

just come back and discover that

my friend Joshua already has

grandchildren. Joshua chased after

his friend and said it is you that

will have grandchildren within a year

and believe me Kamsy, you will die

before me you dirty old man.

After joking for a while, Josh finally

told his friend everything that

happened and his legal arrangements

with Linda. Kamsy was short of

words as he did not know what

to tell his friend because

somewhere within, he smells a rat.

Linda was so keen on staying with

Joshua come rain come shine? So

what will make her change her

mind in an instant? Kamsy could not

bring himself to understand why

Linda will just wake up one morning

and say the only thing she wants

from Josh is for him to give her

three children without any

commitment. Well, that is new.
