CHAPTER 27

You stupid and ungrateful man despite

everything that I have done for you,

you still went out there to betray me.

"Shut up, nobody betrayed you. You

betrayed yourself. Why will you

leave me and your friend in the

same house don't you know we are

two adults and anything can happen?

Perhaps I only wanted to make you

see how bad your friend is." And you

have to do that by sleeping with her

right? So you are now a chicken that

runs after every hen in the barn. You

are even worse than a chicken

because even chickens have

preferences. I hate you and I regret

the day I married you. "Stop

pretending to regret because you

loved me and you forced me into

marrying you by hooking me up with

a pregnancy. If not for the pregnancy,

what will I be doing tied to you? Stop

behaving like you never knew that

all I wanted from you was sex but

you decided to tie me down with

pregnancy. How sure am I that that

girl is even my daughter?" So you

are doubting if Samira is your

daughter, isn't it? So, I am now a

prostitute who sleeps around. "You

never can tell." The woman spoke

in tears and a shaky voice "what

did I ever do to you? Why don't you

have even single respect for me? You

know that I never wanted to keep

this child but you forced me to. If I

had known that you will use this as

a weapon against me, I would have

terminated the pregnancy when I

had the opportunity.

Young Samira who was just in year

four in school was seated outside

while her parents quarrel to their

heart's content because that's an

everyday thing.  you can never stop

her parents from quarreling because

it's already a part of them. Every day

she listens to their quarrels and

their regrets of having her as their child.

If it's not her father cheating today

it's her mother keeping late nights.

The little girl just sits outside telling

herself that when she grows up she

will not have a husband and children.

Samira who was once a sweet girl

began to change as the years go by

and who could blame her? Her

parents never cared to know if she

was happy because they felt that

they have given her all she needed.

When Samira was fifteen years old,

she came home from school one

day and met her parents fighting. She

has always known them to quarrel

but not fight. Today was different and

she could feel it. She felt something

bad was about to happen, so instead

of sitting outside I'm waiting for them

to end their quarrel as she does before,

she decided to enter the house before

her parents will kill each other. She

ran inside and shouted, "why did the

two of you give birth to me when you

know that you can't make me happy?"

Her parents stopped and looked at

the girl in front of them. "Why don't

you ask your mother who tied me

down with your pregnancy? Look,

don't get it wrong sweetheart. I love

you as my daughter but I was not

ready to have you at the time you

came. You should be grateful that I

insisted that we keep you. Your

mother does not just understand

that I need my space sometimes. I

am not ready for commitment and I

want her to understand that." Her

mother laughed "oh really, so you

knew you were not ready for any

commitment when you were having

unprotected sex with me without

thinking that it can lead to pregnancy."

Young Samira watched as her parents

began to shamelessly quarrel in her

presence again. She has never

remembered a time when there was

peace in this house.

"Why did you get married when you

know that you can't bear each other's

presence? I am old enough to see

and understand what's happening. I

have had enough of your childish

quarrels so why don't you behave like

two adults and go get a divorce?"

Her parents stopped to look at their

daughter because what she has just

said does not sound like what a child

should say. Her father turned to her

and said, "how old are you, Samira?"

She looked at her parents as they were

waiting for her answer in anticipation

and she felt more disappointed that

they do not even know her age. "I am

fifteen years old." Her mother spoke

first "do you take us for fools? The

fact that we quarrel all the time does

not mean that we are fools. When did

I give birth to you? It only seems like

yesterday when I had difficult labor

before I could give birth to you. Girl,

you are only this tall because you eat

healthily." Samira asked herself when

they provided the healthy food for her

to eat. Her father laughed and said

"did you see? Even your daughter is

now trying to play pranks on us

because you don't respect yourself.

She has now grown to the point that

she now tells lies. She is following in

your footsteps." Samira felt like

slapping them both in the face

because these two people who call

themselves her parents are not

acting like one. Rather she's the only

one acting like an adult here. "Do you

even know what grade I am in? You

only have a daughter whom you don't

care about. Every time I am in this

house, I always wish I was never

born because the only thing you do

is quarrel and regret the fact that you

gave birth to me. I never asked you to

bring me into this world, but since you

did, you should at least take

responsibility for that and stop blaming

each other." After speaking, she walked

away with her head down because

she was sad. But all the words she has

just said did not stop her parents from

quarreling. Rather, it was like she

added fuel to the fire that was already

burning.

After her parents quarreled to their

satisfaction, her father came into her

room. "Can I come in?" You are already

here, so why ask for permission? "Hey

sweetheart, how are you holding up?

You know, after everything that you

said today, it got me thinking and I

realized I've been a bad parent. It's

really very embarrassing that I do

not know my daughter's age or what

class she is, in school. I don't know

who her friends are, and a whole lot

of other things. I am ashamed to call

myself a father because I know nothing

about my daughter. Please child, forgive

me." I don't blame you and mum for

how you live your lives. I just feel that

two of you should be responsible for me

 sometimes and you should stop

quarreling all the time. I really have

no friends because nobody wants to

be friends with a person whose parents

are always fighting. Everyone in my

school knows that my parents fight

because you don't only fight in the

house, you fight in public also. The

other day, mum landed in the hospital

and both of you were lying to me

thinking I'm a toddler. When I got to

school the next day, that fight was a

trending topic in my school. I was made

fun of for over a week as bullies kept

drawing pictures of you and mum

fighting. Sometimes someone might

just stand up in class and do a

demonstration and say, who do I

look like? The others will reply

"Samira's mum."

That was how Samira and her father

became the best of friends. But what

do you expect from a child who has a

troubled childhood already? Samira

only appears calm and nice on the

surface but within, she is one evil that

nobody ever dreams of meeting.

There was a boy in Samira's class

who was always bullying her and

making fun of her parents. Every time

he does that Samira does nothing but

one day while he was in the toilet, she

made sure no one was looking her away

when she sneaked into the toilet. When

the boy looked at her, he became scared

because he felt like he was looking at

the devil himself. Samira walked closer

to the bully, held his head, and slammed

it into the tiled wall three times. Then,

she walked out like she has done

nothing wrong, took off the gloves

she was wearing, put them inside a

purse, and shoved it inside her pocket.

Later when the boy was discovered,

Samira behaved like she has done

nothing. She never felt guilty for what

she has done rather she felt like she

had just gotten the Justice that she

deserves. That boy never even made

it to the hospital let alone telling

anyone what happened.

She got home one day from school

and everywhere was quiet which is

unlike her parents. When she got into

the house, she saw her father sitting

on the floor and crying with a knife in

his hand and she saw her mother lying

dead on the floor. "Dad, what have you

done? Dad, she's dead. Did you kill her?"

Her father raised his head with tears

in his eyes "I didn't mean to stab her, I

only wanted to scare her but she wasn't

scared and ran into the knife. Now I am

very sure that I'm going to jail." Samira

walked closer to her father and

collected the knife. "You are going

nowhere. Mum had it coming anyway.

If you hadn't done it, I would have done

it myself one of these days. You can

only go to jail if you tell someone about

it." Her father looked at her and said

what are you talking about? Of course,

everyone will suspect when they stop

seeing your mum, and what do we do

to the body? Everyone around knows

we quarrel and fight all the time so

nobody would believe it's a mistake.

They will all say I killed her on purpose.

"Dad you have to stop talking and let's

get into action now." Samira and her dad

cleaned up the house and took her

mom's body out of the city to bury at

night. After that day, they never spoke

of that incident again.

The next day, Samira got to school

looking very sad as she refused to

eat and sat at her desk crying all day.

When her teacher approached her to

know what was happening, Samira

told her teacher that her mother

packed her bags and left her and her

father behind yesterday. "I know that

she and my dad have always quarreled

and I know that they make the worst

couple but I am still her child. I don't

want to leave my father and I don't

want her to leave either, so I beg her

to stay. I went on my knees, I cried, I

held onto her legs, and I kept begging

but she kicked my hands off and told

me I can go to hell with my father. She

said she never wants to set her eyes

on me again as I was the reason she

went through hell all these years living

with my father. She left without even

looking back." The teacher felt sorry

for the young girl as she looked

devastated. She brought Samira into

her office and said, in this life, there

are certain things that we cannot

control. It is better that your mum left

your dad. it is better to know that your

mother is somewhere and alive than

see her dead because, at the rate at

which your parents fight, one of them

is sure to end up killing the other

someday. I just want you to always

remember your mother as a brave

person. She was brave to have taken

that step but she made a mistake by

not explaining certain things to you

and making you feel like you are the

cause of her predicament. Whatever

has happened between your parents

is not your fault. Rather, it is a result

of their own decisions, so don't let

anyone blame anything on you.

While the teacher was talking, Samira

was recording everything that she

was saying and was smiling within her.

She even complimented herself for

being a good actress.

For weeks, Samira continued with the

charade, and everyone who saw her

kept taking pity on her as they all

thought that the separation of her

parents was taking a toll on her. She

graduated that year in flying colors

because she has always been an

intelligent girl.

She and her dad left the town and that

became the beginning of their Bonnie

and Clyde adventure. The only difference

here is that these two are not a couple

but father and daughter. Their

reputation preceded them wherever

they go and that was how they met

with a member of the bloodline who

introduced them to the Ace. Samira

and her father gained more power and

wealth over the years and they were

even eviler than barrister Fred. They

were wiser than Fred as they never

bared their fangs for the world to see,

unlike Fred who will trample on people

without thinking about the

consequences. These two were very

intelligent that once they get you in

their grasp, there is no escaping for

you and Kamsy knew that.

After Samira and her father deceptively

made him marry her because they

needed his family's wealth, he carried

out investigations and realized he was

dining with the devil. Kamsy was no

fool for following all Samira's orders. He

was only trying to stay alive while putting

together a plan that will take them and

the bloodline out for good.

 After Kamsy married Samira, he

discovered that he is the fifth man she

is getting married to and all her previous

husbands died in one mysterious way

or the other. He was horrified after the

many things he found out about his

wife because Samira looks like one

who can never hurt a fly let alone

committing, such crimes. Kamsy knew

that if he does not tread carefully, they

will take him out sooner than they

wanted to, so he decided to play the

fool for she and her father. The night

he took out Samira and her father, was

the happiest night of his life. He told

his men to make her will all their

properties to him before they killed

her but Samira must always be

Samira. Even in death, she refused

to be intimidated into doing something

that she does not want to do. According

to Kamsy's men, they said she laughed

and told them that she will rather die

with the joy of knowing that Kamsy

never laid his hands on their properties

than sign that will.
