CHAPTER 242:FLEE THE COUNTRY.

He texted Mish who was busy in her office. When she saw the text message from her dad. It was labelled, Urgent: Can you come home quickly there's an urgent matter"

She panicked when she looked at the screen of her mobile phone. She dialed her father's number but he was not picking up. So she walked to the head of department and told her about an urgency to be at home at that time.

The head of department allowed her to leave as long as she returns after attending to the matter. if it will be still working hours.  Since Charo was to pick her in the evening, she didn't have her own car yet. So she walked outside the company hurriedly and boarded the taxi.

She was worried and scared at the same time, this was the first time her dad have texted her like that. Her mind was in a turmoil wondering what might have happened at home.

She told the taxi driver to speed up, she wanted to arrive home so fast to know what kind or urgency was there

What Mr Mukhongo didn't know was that the moment he drove out,Mrs Wechuli boarded a taxi and followed him and now Mish was on the way too.

"I will have to flee this country before you know it, you are a very foolish woman," he murmured to himself. 'I hope Mish arrives early before that woman notices anything,' he thought as he pulled over in the compound.

He opened the door and he hurriedly walked inside his house. Before he could think of doing anything he heard the police cars with their siren on entering the compound.

He got confused and surprised at the same time as he stood to look at them. He thought maybe they have confused his house to someone else.

So he walked outside the house to meet with the commander in charge of the police that are in the compound.

"Good day officer, how can I help....

He was cut short as the commander asked,

"Are you Mr Steve Mukhongo?"the commander asked.

"Yes sir how can I..

"We have two warrants for you the warrant to research your house again and the warrant to arrest you for the murder of your wife Elizabeth Mukhongo some months back!"the officer said.

Mr Mukhongo chuckled then said,"Officer is this kind of a joke or what? Can you leave my wife to rest in peace? Why would I kill my wife? How can you arrest me when you have no evidence that I did that?"

"That's the reason why we have a search warrant for your house. We need to find a new evidence that will prosecute you," the police officer said.

Mr Mukhongo was very sure that there is no evidence that will be found in his house. He knows that the gun he accidentally used to kill his wife was safe with Mrs Wechuli and also he knows that he bribed the doctor who performed the postmortem and the police who were investigating the matter to cover up the whole story.

"Woow you are free to do so, what are you waiting for. Come in and search the entire house," he said as he moved away from the door to give them space to pass.

They were six police officer in number so they divided themself into three groups, two police officers were to search a room.

So two police officer went to the kitchen, the two other went to Mish's room. While the other two searched the sitting room.

So the police at the sitting room have nothing to search as they were no place to search. Unless they search under the coaches and beging the seats. They were done with that as they proceeded to Mr Mukhongo's bedroom.

That all searching was the cover up to show that no one had told them the entire story of Mr Mukhongo possessing a gun that he used to kill his wife. So the moment the police officer entered his room. They walked to the wardrobe an exact place that they have been directed.

They fished out a gun and put it in the Investigation carriers. They came with it in the sitting room where Mr Mukhongo was relaxing waiting for them to finish so that he continues with what he wanted to do.

"Mr Mukhongo we found this in your wardrobe, do you have a lincese to posses a gun?" The chief police officer asked.

Mr Mukhongo scratched his head as he moved closely to take a look at the gun that he was holding. He didn't believe that, the gun was in the house. 'How us this possible? I gave it to Carol the same night,' he thought.

"Sir that's not mine, I don't know how it got there I swear," he said

"Then why did you have it in your wardrobe if you  don't own it?" The chief officer asked.

"I don't know? I don't know the person that had framed me," Mr Mukhongo said as tears threatened to come out of his eyes. When he remembered that the previous day Carol searched his house in the name of looking for the legal documents of the company.

He had recognized that gun the moment he saw the officers carrying it. He knows that he was going to spend the rest of his life behind bars. He knows that Car was the only person that had framed him. One thing it's because after he accidentally pulled the trigger and killed Elizabeth. He trusted Carol to keep the gun with her because Investigation would be carried out.

The second thing, she was the only person that accessed his house the previous day. So there was no one else would have an access to that gun.

"You will have to come with us and write a statement about this. "You have a right to remain silent as anything you say right now will be used against you in the court of law.
