It has been two months since his discussions with Charlie and yet, he still had not gotten his memory. He still felt angry that the guy had told him nothing on what he asked. He had been trying his very best to remember but to no avail.
Charlie being Charlie had decided to play the careful game and not take unnecessary risks. He needed enough time and space to gather evidences against the conspirators and so, he had given it to Jay. He had told him that day that until he was ready to bring back his memories, he was not going to tell him anything. He could see the anger flash in his eyes and would have normally move away but then, he was done running and being afraid. Not of Jay Martins but at the most, whoever was behind this scam and whatever they were trying to protect. Besides, he needed to make sure that his stance was well taken and his seriousness sink in. He could not let himself be subsumed by unnecessary dominance from Jay.
That had always been Jay's style, trying to control people and dominating them into submission. But then, Charlie knew that right now, any form of behavioural display of anger would ruin everything he had been working on. He needed his friend to remember and could not understand what it was that was causing it to take so long. He needed to find out enough to nail Stella and her cronies. The previous month, he had gone to pay Anthony and his son Mikey a visit in an attempt to getting something off them but the duo gave him nothing. In fact, they looked very much like they were hiding something, something really important. He had his hunches that this scam was a lot deeper than it seemed. He decided to go into it gradually.
He had nothing for Jay, he had told him that day holding his gaze. He had to win this time, he held his gaze although he felt compelled to lower it at some point, but he could not give up, no yet. Jay Martins had eventually given up and rose angrily. Looking Charlie square in the face, he promised him that they next time they met, he would have his memory intact and he was going to make Charlie pay for wasting his time. With those words, he stomped out of the office, banging the door behind him as he left. You see that attitude, that was just about what Charlie had been avoiding. He was like this now, how much more when he tells him that he was being lied to all this while and had been living with the enemy.
Charlie smiled as he watched his angered friend leave, it was for the best that he had done that' two months ago. But then, he needed to focus on something of great importance to him, he needed to find Bella. Wherever she was and he needed to understand this talk about her pregnancy, was it true or false. There must be a way, he believed. He prayed sincerely that the hands of fate brings him answers. It had been a long wait, yet nothing from Jay Martins. He could tell very well that he had still not gotten his memories back, and knowing Jay, he was going to do everything possible to achieve that. It was only a matter of time before he came back but then, for how long was he going to hold out.
Just then, his phone rang, it was Jonathan and the lad claimed that he had something really urgent and important to discuss with him.
"Well, out with it son", Charlie had said.
