Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-six

Bella continued until she got to the public phone booth. She went in and punched in his numbers, she could not feel the morale to hit the dial button as she made a brief prayer that his wife had better not pick up the phone. The pain she felt when she thought of her as his wife seemed to come at her with another level and version of pain. That should have been her position even if he had not proposed back then. She said and prayer briefly then played the eyes closed guess the button game saying if she somehow miraculously hit the dial button, then the hands of fate was on her side. She closed her eyes and did so what she heard it ringing. She had hit the dial button exactly and slowly opened her eyes with such anticipation in her eyes. It was ringing for a while and then, he picked up the phone.

"Hello ", he said to her over the phone and she felt the familiar electricity coarse through her body. He was the one quite alright. His voice sounded distant and lost, or had she imagined it. She could not bring herself to say anything and that had prompted him to say 'hello' again.

This time she knew she had to say something. She lacked the words to express herself and managed to breathe out hoarsely, "Hi Jay, how are you doing? ".

She said those words and closed her eyes tightly as she anticipated him to lash out at him. His next words broke her heart in two as if he had lashed out at her or threatened her, it would have been preferable to her. If Stella had also been the one on the phone, she might have been able to deal with that fact but then, his words not only broke her heart in two, they pierced through like a flaming hot sword.

"Who is this", he had demanded.

Bella gave a rather loud shocking gasp and quickly replaced the receiver. She could not believe that he could not even remember her voice or acknowledge that she was the person. He had to pretend not to even recognize her. She slid down slowly until she was sitting on the floor of the booth, her head buried in her legs and her hands on her head. She could not believe her ears and felt hot steamy tears flowing through. She had made a grave mistake calling him, she should have listened to her father and Jonathan and forgotten about him. She felt really upset and angrily tore the paper she had in her hands of his number. He had already forgotten about her so soon and was obviously doing well without her in his life. She sat down there, crying for a while that she had not noticed the person approaching until he tapped her.

"Are you okay miss ",the dark tattered guy asked her. She looked up and he saw her tears. He looked like one of the homeless people staying amongst them.

She rose up quickly and pretended like she was absolutely fine and left the place. She could feel him staring after her, but that was the least of her worries at the moment. She just needed one thing, to get rid of everything related to Jay Martins. She somehow wished he had done this when she was just discovering about her pregnancy, then, she might have gotten rid of his snakes in her belly. She walked briskly until she got to a lonely park and sat on the bench. Every other person there was minding their business and no one took into cognisance, the affairs of the next person. There, she let her emotions flow in tears.

She had been there crying for a while as he watched her form afar. He had actually gone to see her that morning and her father had told him she had gone for a walk. He guessed she might be tired and decided to go pick her up. He saw her leaving the phone booth and immediately he had his suspicions on whom she might have called. It dawned on him right then, that she had not forgotten about that bastard and looking at her right now, he could guess what answer she had gotten. He must have told her, he wanted nothing to do with her baby, and thus, Jonathan had followed her carefully. Getting off his car to avoid drawing attention to himself and he watched her every movement.
